It works great butter you need two batteries unless you like changing them once a week. Maybe the wired connection is better

      Hello Okay,

Thank you for leaving a review. We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble keeping your Ring Spotlight Camera battery charged. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment and preserve battery life. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Here is a helpful article that explains this feature in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency.

Ring Spotlight Cam Battery - Video Door Bell 2

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So I see a TON of negative reviews about the Ring products. I felt compelled to post a POSITIVE review based on my own experience. I own a Spotlight Cam Battery w/solar panel and (2) batteries and I also have a video Doorbell 2. I absolutely LOVE both these products. Are they perfect? No, not in any way. Are they worth the cost, ABSOLUTELY 100% every day of the week! Most of the problems I see and hear about are setup related issues. The products work well in my opinion. Some of these things I see are basic, like charging the battery fully before first use. Motion Issues: If you have this pointing at a tree, the motion sensors might go nuts on a windy day. (As an example) Just FYI, you are not going to get a motion sensing device that can tell the difference from a dog to a person for $200. Just sayin’. This is not the cure for cancer here; this is a $200 wireless security camera. Try to mount the Camera in a place where it points towards the house maybe? Case by case situation. Consider turning down the sensitivity and distance to get the results you seek. It may take a bit to dial this in and remember to work slowly. When you change the alerts from “Frequent” to “Standard” give the CAM a few moments to download the new policy from the cloud and reset. The walk in front and test it. Wireless Issues: I have to address the myriad of wireless and Wi-Fi issues I read about. As a Network/Electrical Engineer for over 20 years I almost never see a home with what I call “Good Wi-Fi”. :-) An Access point can only service a small area (with 2.4GHz) and only so many connections and only so much bandwidth. I am so tired of everyone thinking 2.4 Wi-Fi stuff just works well. Maybe, if you’re lucky. But uploading 1080 streams of video is no small feat WIRELESS Networking wise. If you are having issues with 2.4 wireless have you downloaded SSIDER and looked at what channels your neighbors are on? Probably not, and most devices default to Ch. 1 or 11, leaving the middle of the band for guys like me who know what to look for. Move your crummy cable modem device to channel 5 or 6 and watch what happens, literally. Also consider using a wireless survey tool to move around and confirm good signal in the area you propose to mount the camera. People have to realize that many run video wires for a reason. Moving this high resolution video around wirelessly is amazing we can even do it. My system works very well due to the (3) wireless access points my Wi-Fi system uses. If you are serious about wireless and security get a Ruckus, AeroHive, or WatchGuard type system (Like I have) and your results will vastly improve I assure you. Video Quality Issues: The video quality of my 2 ring devices is nothing short of outstanding for the money. The night vision is good and if you give it good lighting, the video at night is excellent as well. I do not understand the many issue with video quality except to say that may actually be a wi-fi issue. If you see an ATM video with a perfectly clear face of the robber that was NOT by accident. Some tech spent time making sure the lighting and camera positioning was just right. This is no different. In closing I think Ring gets “Beat Up” unfairly in many cases with these reviews, and I hope this post helps someone decide to purchase a Ring product. I have had nothing but positive support experience when I had a question or needed to add my 2nd camera to the cloud. All calls to ring have been answered by a human and they are helpful and sincerely care about the customer in my opinion. The company, it's culture, and story are nothing short of awesome if you ask me. Don;t forget the fact the product is always under warranty as long as you pay for the cloud. I believe that ever covers theft, if someone steals your video doorbell. That is awesome coverage, what more can you want? Ring products are AWESOME and work very well for the intended purpose. I think the video doorbell 2 is the best electronics product I have seen in years! My 2 cents - no refunds! -Tom

Hi there, I know how important it is to be able to rely on your home security devices. If notifications are delayed, or the Live View on your Spotlight Cam loads slowly, it could be due to a weak or unstable wifi signal. You can learn more here https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Checking-Wifi-Signal-Strength. Improving the signal strength should reduce any delays you're experiencing. Good Camera - wish it had better vision in the dark, but has good wifi range. Ring is good, but in my opinion slightly overpriced for what it does. You do get a quality product out of it though.
