We understand the importance of being able to connect to your Ring device on demand, so that you can monitor your home no matter where you are. We would like to provide you some tips and tricks to ensure your device is set up for optimal performance.

It sounds like you are having difficulty connecting to live view on your Ring device. This typically means there's a problem in the data transfer between your Ring device and the Ring App. As a result, your Ring App is unable to show you a Live View or display a video recording from your Ring camera(s). You might see a message that says Activating Device, but the camera eventually times out.

If your internet speeds are good, you may still have an issue with the strength of the signal between your router and the Ring device. Signal strength is just as important as speed when it comes to transmitting a video image from your Ring device to your Ring App.

We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Spotlight Cam so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

Extremely cold weather has unfortunate effects on lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in Ring devices. As the temperature drops, these batteries begin to have trouble holding a charge, and if it gets cold enough, they'll stop working altogether. As a result, at certain temperatures, the batteries in your Ring device may run out of power faster than expected and may need to be recharged more often.

Ring devices may have their performance affected by the cold. The following are key temperatures to watch out for in regards to your batteries.

36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in you having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.

Batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors such as local weather, number of events captured, and frequency of activation. We provide information to our customers about the optional Ring Protect Plan on our Ring website, here: https://ring.com/protect-plans. Your Ring app will also notify you during the free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in an email after a successful setup of a Ring device. With the optional Ring Protect Plans, you have the ability to review, save, and share your video recordings for as little as $3.99 a month. Your Ring videos are stored in the cloud for up to 180 days (in the US). Without a plan, you will still receive real-time motion and ring alerts, as well as have access to the Ring live view feature.
