Great addition to our home. Clear picture. We have the solar panel and additional batteries because we realized the batteries died relatively quickly.

    Waste of money

This was easy to install and set up but a complete waste of money. Battery life is terrible. I had the light turned off and the motion off and it still only lasts 4-5 days. That is very annoying especially if you have installed it high up and it is not the easiest thing to take battery out to recharge. I did buy the solar panel because I didn't want to have to do that. I have the solar panel pointed directly at the sun and does work, but never enough to keep the camera from dieing. Supposed to work only using 2 hours of sun a day but even with a full day of sun my battery only charged about 3%.

    Disappointed loyal customer

I am a ring customer. I own two hard wired ring door bells and a hard wired ring flood light. So when I found someone trespassing on my property in a area that didn’t have a camera I turned to another ring product. The reason I don’t have a camera in this particular area is because I have no electric I could hard wire a video camera to. The battery operated spot light made sense to buy. It was easy to assemble, but that was the only good thing about this product. After I hooked up the spot light and the solar panel that they recommend to buy with it,I put a completely changed battery in and programmed the device to my other ring products. It work well for about two days then that was it. The battery kept draining too quickly. The battery lasted about two full days and that was with the solar panel attached. So I climbed up the 9ft ladder took out the battery and charged it , I also moved the solar panel to a better position so the sun can hit it more directly. Once the battery was charged I put it back in and again the battery drained in two full days. It turns out, since I live in a cold weather climate the battery drains too quickly once the temperature goes below 32f or 0 c. I knew this before I bought the product but they stated if the solar panel is connected and it receives 5 hrs of direct sunlight a day it will keep the battery charged. That was a complete fabrication. I positioned the solar panel on my roof that it received sunlight for the entire day and it only charged the battery about 15%. Not enough to keep the charge with the cold weather draining the battery so quickly.. I also discovered that if you have more than three ring products joined together that it slows the system down so there is delays to your video feeds,Horrible. I was very disappointed overall with this product and finding out that having more than three products on the same system delays the video feed. Never buy this product If you live in a cold climate or need more than three devices, definitely not worth the price.

      Hello Danny,

We completely understand the seriousness of these issues. Fixing this for you is our top priority, as we value your business, and we never want our customers to feel a sense of insecurity. You should be able to link multiple Ring devices to trigger recordings with no issue. Our Ring Solar panel should provide a daily trickle charge for your device to help prolong the time in between manual recharging. Our team is here to help find the best way forward.

If you haven't already, please ensure that your Ring Spotlight Camera - Battery's motion settings are truly meeting your needs. Having the motion sensitivity set too high can cause additional battery drain, even with a solar panel. Our solar panels are intended to provide up to 10% trickle charge per day, weather permitting. For those who need even more power, we do have a Super Solar Panel which provides even more power.

Additionally, we recommend that you check your camera's internet connection strength through the 'Device Health' section of the Ring app. If you find that your RSSI reading is high, such as in the 70's or 80's, your Ring device may underperform, and the battery could drain faster. The 'Device Health' section offers advice as to how to address this.

A poor internet connection or slower upload speeds can cause video delays. Please follow the guidance in this article to learn how to test your speeds, and help improve overall performance.

This is a great camera with powerful lights. Really a good addition to your RING ecosystem. They recently added advanced motion zone settings making this even better. Can't go wrong here, buy it.

Camera is very visible at night and captures movement without issue. Can support up to two batteries for extending usage. Had to purchase extender for it to reach to my wireless gateway. When setting up the extender, it was a bit of a hassle. If you can connect this camera and still see wireless gateway without extender, that would be even better!

Ring - Spotlight Cam Wire-free camera is wonderfully easy to use. We put it outdoors by our patio area. The Ring Spotlight Cam captured video footage of deer and other wildlife walking around in our yard. How wonderful.

Ring makes great products and stand by them. Super easy to setup and install. You'd be a fool not to purchase the accompanying solar panel. App is ready to use and user friendly. Great system for the money!

The Ring Spotlight Cams are pretty solid. The ability to add two batteries makes keeping them charged pretty easy, and adding the solar panel really helps. Great that wireless cams have come this far!

Once I upgraded my router the cameras connected to our wifi and we were off to the races. Easy to mount, the 2 pack was a good value. IM customer service was not real helpful on router issue, I chose a new router, an extender could be a less expensive alternative.

Purchase the solar panel and get extra battery, it can hold two so you don't have to change it as often in case you don't get much sunlight or don't use a solar panel. Currently only records for 30 seconds vs 1 min like my other Ring products.

Great security camera. I have it outside. I bought it in conjunction with the Ring Doorbell 2.Keep in mind though , you need a good WiFi system (router) in order for it to work outside. Bricks and steel can inhibit it working.

These cameras are great! The only issue I have is they are hyper sensitive, and although the advertised battery life is 6-12 months, I have found it to be more like 6-12 weeks. Nonetheless, I would still recommend these cameras, just make sure you buy a second battery!
