Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble keeping your Ring Spotlight Camera battery charged. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment and preserve battery life. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Based on your review it seems that you are having trouble with your Spotlight Camera picking up motion at night time. The Ring Spotlight Camera was designed to offer security at both day and night time. If you are having trouble with your camera detecting motion at night time we recommend adjusting your motion settings. Please pay close attention to the Motion Frequency setting and consider adjusting this to frequent within the Ring App. Frequent gives you the most motion alerts and ensures you don’t miss any activity.

While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Spotlight Cam Battery so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the battery on your device is draining sooner than expected. While you only need one battery for your Spotlight Cam to work properly, you can extend the battery life or avoid any downtime while charging with a second battery (sold separately).

Your Spotlight Cam security camera may not need recharging with normal use. However, this depends on a number of factors in your home environment, such as the weather and the number of activities captured.

If you are experiencing a large number of motion events, we recommend adjusting your motion settings to avoid excess events. You can draw your own custom Motion Zones for your security camera in the Ring app, so your device can focus on the specific areas that are most important to you.

To access Motion Zones, go to Motion Settings on your Ring app and edit the zones by dragging the dots and creating unique shapes to monitor a specific area.
