Rest assured, we are still here to help you resolve your Spotlight Camera’s night vision concerns and ensure you have a security device you can rely on. 

Certain models of Ring devices have a night vision feature that allows you to see through the camera in low light conditions. By using infrared light, the camera can create a black and white image that is then beamed to the Live View in your app. By turning the color night vision feature on, the camera will use whatever ambient light is available to try and create a "false color" image in your Live View. This lets you get a better sense of what’s happening in the image by creating a false sense of color depth. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Spotlight Cam Battery device so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can find the correct settings for your home’s environment.

It sounds like you are having to recharge your device frequently. Your Spotlight Cam security camera may not need recharging with normal use. However, this depends on a number of factors in your home environment, such as the weather and the number of activities captured.

There may be things in your environment, such as the shadow of a moving tree branch or the sun glinting off a shiny object, that may trigger a motion event and send out notifications that you don't really want. You can use the motion sensitivity slider to reduce these kinds of motion alerts.

To Access Motion Settings:

Tap the three lines on the top left of your Ring app.
Tap your Spotlight Cam Wired.
Tap Motion Settings.
Adjust the motion sensitivity according to your preferences.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking me up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life.
