I think it does the job but it's not worth that price. I get people walking by my house and this will, sometimes, pick up the image after they've walked by completely and other times it picks it up from the beginning. Inconsistent. I don't know why this doesn't have the advanced motion detection grid like the doorbell model.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking me up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Too much trouble to rewire so went with wireless spotlight cam. It works well.

It has taken some getting use to the settings so we are not being notified every time a car goes down the street.

So easy to install especially when you already have another ring camera installed. I recommend to buy the solar panel to keep the battery charged.

The item is pretty flimsy and I had to take 1 back and exchange it after spending about 20 minutes on the phone to have them tell me it is bad. They really need to design the battery compartment much better. Also, the cameras are a little difficult to find the right angles and such as they cover a lot of area. If you have a busy street in front of your house make sure to get the right angle of the camera or every car that goes by you will get a notification. Overall not bad but for the price they could be better.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Ring spotlight stick-up cameras do not require running an electrical circuit since they are battery powered. The 1080 resolution is clear and the light is surprisingly bright--just what we needed.

It does set off a lot of false motion alerts, which you can turn off. My biggest complaint is that you can’t turn off motion detection; so if you are having an outdoor party, it will record the whole thing. This runs down the battery and also is a huge inconvenience and invasion of privacy. I would like to see a software upgrade whereby I can turn off the camera at my discretion. The Ring Stick-Up Camera has this option, but the Spotlight Camera does not.
