What Ring doesn't tell you is that you have to buy a subscription for $10 a month for each camera in order to use the most valuable part of the camera which would be to record a short video clip when motion is detected. It can only be stored in the cloud. What a scam Ring has set up. There is no way to add a memory card or any other way to use this function. If you don't get the subscription from ring the camera is only good for a live view which is delayed somewhat. Even with good internet connection the audio communication is poor or absent. The motion detector has very poor control so that it is difficult to set it in an area that would not be disturbed buy cars going by or animals. Got this for a Christmas present and Best Buy refused to take it back because it was bought on Black Friday, poor ratings for Best Buy also. I purchased a cheap, $40 security camera for in the house that has a video card and stores small Clips when there is motion on the card no need for a subscription and only cost $40 they also offer free cloud storage. Ring is a scam do not buy any of their products.

A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. It is important that the features available to you on your Spotlight Cam meet your needs and expectations. We do appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring product for your home security.
The Spotlight Cam works great at about nine feet above ground level with the motion sensor parallel to the ground. From this height, your Spotlight Cam can cover a wide visual area, as well as capture HD video of visitors' faces.
Poor video quality can be attributed to the wifi/bandwidth connection. One of the most important measurements in your Ring security network is the strength of your wifi signal. You may run a special connectivity test at any time to see if a bad wifi connection is responsible for problems with your device. We have included step by step instructions below:
-Open Ring app
-Hamburger Menu/ 3 Lines
-Select Devices
-Select a Ring device
-Select Device Health
-Select "Test your Wifi" under the Tools Section
-Tap "Start test
-Once the test is done, Enter your Results from the Speed test
Sometimes, even with high internet speeds, the connection is not as strong at the location of the Ring device.
