I definitely feel safer since getting a ring camera. It alerts me anytime a car or person passes by and you can adjust the settings if you the settings if you don't want it always going off. I prefer this one because of the spotlight.

    Totally Unreliable

I purchased this camera at Best Buy in February and have had nothing but problems since. It is not a security system for the simple fact that it is not reliable. It has proven unreliable for me for the following reasons: 1. It fails to connect to wifi much of the time. I get a message that says "failed to connect" or I get an endlessly spinning wheel (on iPhone). I have been in touch with customer service about this frequently and they blame my wifi system. Which it cannot be for the following reasons: I have 180 Mbps speeds consistently and ten feet from the camera that fails to connect frequently is a 4K TV that streams movies using the same network, and never fails. The network that streams 4K movies to a 70 inch screen fails to stream very low res "movies" from my camera to my phone? No. I can't rely on a system with poor connection reliability for security. 2. When it does connect it often pixilates any movement. In other words the image becomes smeared as the object or person moves across the screen, you cannot tell what it is or what its doing. I can't rely on something that does not allow me to see what is moving around my house reliably as a security system. 3. If it does alarm, and if you do connect, and if it doesn't pixilate it often runs too late to detect the motion that triggered it. From my experience there is some kind of delay between detecting motion and triggering an alarm. This means that whatever triggered the alarm can move off "screen" before you have a chance to capture it on the image. I cannot rely on something that is not fast enough to catch events as a security system. I invested in 4 cameras and a doorbell. The total investment I made was near a thousand dollars and after about 4 months I am done with Ring. It is a lovely novelty item, allowing me to see what packages have been delivered to my door and are waiting for me when I get home. But I cannot rely on it as a security system. This is an indicator of how much I dislike and mistrust this system: though I want to get rid of it, I don't feel good about selling this on eBay, as the person buying it will think they are buying a reliable "security system", but, in my experience, it will not adequately protect their home / car / boat, and I would feel somewhat responsible for selling it to them if they had a loss relying on a system that is, in my experience, unreliable. So this expensive system will simply end up in the trash unfortunately. I am very disappointed in Ring and this entire system... I definitely would not recommend this system to anyone.

      Hi Mark,

I am so sorry to hear about this poor Ring experience, this is by no means the experience that we intended for you to have. Your Ring device should hold a stable connection to your home WIFI network. Additionally, streaming performance does rely on both your upload and download speeds as well as the distance between your Ring device and router. For best streaming performance, we recommend that your Ring device is no further than 30 feet from your router, however, the closer it is the better the performance. At this point, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you directly. It is imperative to me that we get your Ring device working consistently to your expectations and I would like to step in and work to make this happen for you. Would you please email me at [email protected]?

I would like to get to work on improving your overall Ring experience today.

The RING selection of devices are known for quality and ease of use. The quality, picture and sound are very good. The camera and two-way audio are the same as the doorbell device, but the added light is strong and useful. I prefer wireless in case of a power loss.

I bought two of these wireless cameras. They have great video quality and are easy to set up. I now have these 2 Ring cameras and two Ring doorbells. I now plan on getting two more Ring cameras for full coverage around the outside of my house.

Ring Products have been my security for years. Never have I had any problems with the camera or spot light cam. Solar panel is the best, no need to change out batteries or climb on ladders every time battery dies. Neighbors notification is at real time and always alerting incidents.

We are always getting notifications, which I think is better than getting no notifications at all. A little bit annoying on times, but I definitely recommend because nothing even a bee can enter your driveway without triggering this camera. Need to recharge battery often, so had to buy two for each camera. Worth it!

These cameras are good for monitoring your property. I like getting the alerts and see the play back in clear view. Also the special offer that Ring has are outstanding. But you have to get the solar panels it so worth it so you dont have to keep charging the batteries.

Works Awesome when it is not too cold. If you live in a cold climate make sure you buy the solar panel. Otherwise you will be changing your battery a lot when it gets cold. Also Rings customer service in CA answers the phone only during European hours.

First oh all the sensor on this camera detects motions very easily. I love the fact that it catches motion right away. I installed this camera facing down my stairs and it has the full view. The lights on it also allows me to check the key for my door. One of the best security camera I have ever seen.

Needs batteries with longer life than 1-2 weeks. Changing them is a pain. Good quality picture. Also adjustment to minimize false alarms is difficult. For example if wind blows bushes I get a false alarm. However this said, I did film someone trying to break in my car the day after it was installed.

The pictures shows up really clear. Buy an extra battery to get more mileage out of your camera before having to recharge. The only issue I have is with the notification settings. It’s not as simple as the ring doorbell to set the range to help minimize notifications. Also, sometimes the app doesn’t flip to the camera right away when there are notifications.

I bought this camera but ended up exchange it for the wireless one. Just a personal choice, nothing wrong with it. Camera works well and has great picture quality even at night. The light is surprising powerful for its size. I gave it 4 stars because it lacks continues recording.

I have ring security set up at my home. They are not cheap. It's been out there for awhile but rarely see a good discount. This camera has not given me any issues...yet. I hooked it up to optional solar panels and works great. Don't need to constantly recharge the battery. If you don't, and there is constant movement, then battery will drain out quick. If you mount this high up, then you need to climb up the ladder constantly. The focus is good up to I would say 15 to 20' in bright condition. Cuts down to 10 to 15' in the dark and with the side lamps. You can still see but not as sharp farther away. Since this is wireless, the WiFi coverage is not that great. You need WiFi extender unless the camera is no more than 20' away from the modem/router and does not pass through several walls. This is the only issue I have with this. Other than that I am happy with the performance. I wish this and any Ring products are more affordable. The service is great when you have issues.

After charging the battery, it only took me about 15 minutes to install this camera. It was so easy. I have been using it for a couple of weeks, and the motion detection is effective with real time alerts to my phone through the app. If I want to look at history, it is easy to navigate also.

I initially put this in my backyard. It's doesn't throw out as much light as a floodlight but it is enough. Ending up getting another one for the driveway. It gets a pretty decent spread of motion detection. One sort of flaw, for vocal notifications, like "You have motion in your .....". The only device name it says is if you used one of the default name choices. For example, my driveway cam I named , well, Driveway. But whenever there was motion it would say, in the app vocal, "Motion in your spot camera". Driveway is not a default. I renamed the cam "Front" and now it says "motion in front". The popup notify on your phone does show any name. I confirmed this with Ring support and they created a ticket to have more name choices. The cam runs on one battery, but you can put two in, then when one drains, it will switch to the other while you charge the one. Solar is also a choice. Because my driveway requires a ladder for me to change batteries, I decided to order the wired one and will put it in the driveway.

The Ring eco system has to be the best retail shelf system I have found to date. The cameras are easy to install and work as intended. The app is easy to use and install the cameras into the system. The cameras have crystal clear video and night time works great as well.
