Hello LGBuyer,
Ring understands how important it is to receive motion notifications in a timely manner. Please know that We are here to resolve these concerns with you today.
Notification delays are normally attributed to poor wifi or cellular data connections. Do you happen to know what your upload speed is? We recommend running a speed test next to your router and at the mounting location of your Ring device:
Open Ring app Click on the hamburger menu or 3 lines in the upper left corner Select devices Select a Ring device Select device health Select "Test your Wifi" under the tools section Tap "start test" Tap start to begin the speed test Once the test is done, tap your phones back button, this will take you back to the Ring App Enter your results from the speed test
Sometimes, even with high internet speeds, the connection is not as strong at the location of the Ring device. Would you kindly reach us today so that we can work together to find the best solution?

Hello LMC20,
As a leader in home security, we understand how important it is to conveniently charge your Ring devices. Ring Spotlight Camera's batteries can be recharged with the included USB cable, and should provide lasting service.
For added convenience, this device can be trickle charged via solar power with a Ring Solar or a Super Solar panel. This, along with the second battery slot should ensure you can go longer periods of time before recharging manually.
Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ for some additional tips and support. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hello ProfessionalJAWD,
Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review of the Ring Spotlight Camera. At Ring, we believe that stronger communities are the key to safer neighborhoods. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home, and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. We are saddened to read that this device did not meet your expectations, but are still here to assist you, if needed.
Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Here is a helpful article that explains this feature in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency.

Simply put, and for the price you pay, there are MUCH better options. I purchased two Spotlight Cameras and I spend more time waiting for the view to load than actually viewing the cameras. The cameras began working great, but after the first month, everything slowed down significantly. On average, and if it actually works, the live view takes about 5-10 minutes to appear. The product is not reliable though, and most times, the live view doesn’t work or the cameras are offline and unable to stream. Because of this, the motion detection also goes down, tending the cameras entirely useless. I believe I’ve called Ring Customer Support about 5 times in last 2 weeks because apparently the only solution to this issue is to constantly restart each device. I am currently awaiting shipment of a different brand before returning the two cameras. I am having the same issue with the doorbell as well, and will likely be swapping it for a different brand as well, but that is less important, generally.

Hello AbeK,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Here at Ring, we hear your concerns and are here to help. Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. It is important to us that you have all the necessary information needed to ensure that Ring App is performing optimally for you, and that you are able to answer your motion alerts.
Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with answering your doorbell from your Ring App. Rapid Ring is a "light" version of the classic Ring app with most of the features stripped out except for the ability to activate a Live View and respond to an event as quickly as possible. By using the Rapid Ring app in conjunction with the original Ring app, you'll be able to answer your notifications as quickly as possible. Please see our help center article for more information on the Rapid Ring App: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028023571-Rapid-Ring-App-Information.

Bought these because we already had one Ring camera that was pretty old. Thought they had made some improvements, but obviously not! Sound is terrible, and camera resolution is pitiful. If you don’t know who is on your property, you would never identify anyone from these cameras. And forget trying to understand anything. Also makes some very odd noises when nothing is there.

Hello John,
It is important that the features available to you on your Spotlight Cam meet your needs and expectations. We do appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring product for your home security.
If you are experiencing poor audio or video quality during a live view, but your recordings are fine, this can be caused by either a poor connection between your mobile device and the cloud servers, or a connectivity problem between the Ring device and your router. In rare cases, however, this can be caused by settings in your router.
It is imperative that we get your Spotlight Cam setup and working to its full potential. Would you be so kind as to reach out to our support team directly via our community forum at, https://community.ring.com.

Hello Slopez,
Thank you for leaving a review. We can understand the importance of the video being displayed correctly. Please know that we are here to ensure that we can get your Spotlight Camera to respond correctly to the environment.
Certain models of Ring devices have a night vision feature that allows you to see through the camera in low light conditions. By using infrared light, the camera can create a black and white image that is then beamed to the Live View in your app. By turning the color night vision feature on, the camera will use whatever ambient light is available to try and create a "false color" image in your Live View. This lets you get a better sense of what’s happening in the image by creating a false sense of color depth. Here is a helpful article that walks you through how to enable this feature: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038559351-Understanding-Color-Night-Vision-and-Troubleshooting-Night-Vision.

I installed the Ring doorbell over a year ago and have had good experiences with that. I decided to add a camera to cover our back deck/sliding door and decided to integrate that and stay with the Ring brand. However, I'm rethinking the Ring brand. My neighbor has competing Nest cameras and he has much better visibility. Often times I use his camera to look at my yard despite my cameras being 1/2 the distance.

After doing all my research , I walked into BB and was going to purchase earlier the Arlo or the Nest. Both not being exactly what I wanted but nonetheless I haven't found a fool proof camera yet. Then got thrown a curve ball with the Ring Spotlight Camera. The $199 price tag was appealing, the specs being , Outdoor, Motion, Live View, battery, wireless, and affordable storage. The Spotlight feature was a huge plus in the dark area I was putting this in. This definitely acts as double trouble to scare of any would be criminals...Not to mention a built in Siren....!
My Experience: Setup was a breeze, but I did run into an issue with the Live View feature in the APP. I also noticed, the battery seemed to be draining quickly. Contacted customer service and let me just say Josh who helped me has kept me from returning the product..For my troubles he is sending me a backup battery for free. I really think that Ring is for the people and not trying to price gouge you like the other competitors. The device was released 2 months ago, so there is going to be some bugs that will need to be worked out. Being the tech-e that I am , my issue ended up being a conflict with my smart watch interfering with the live stream. So now I am gauging battery life on the device and this will determine if I will return and purchase the wired version. One last thing, the Ring Community feature is also something that is like a built in neighborhood watch...I will update this review after I complete the testing...but don't let the low stars scare you away just yet....!!

Had a lot of connection issues to Wi-Fi. Once everything finally connected, the "videos" were either black, or 0:00 seconds long and only gave a picture. Worked maybe 3% of the time. Returned along with the doorbell and larger spotlight. There's no point in having cameras if they're unreliable.

After having a Best Buy professional come to the house to let me know if it would be okay to install this camera in the front of house and paying for their professional installation, we are disappointed in this camera. It rarely, if ever, records because of the wifi connection which the Best Buy professional said should not be a problem.
We even went back and paid for an extender and tried several wifi boost options, but we can never get it to work properly. It's very frustrating. We are willing to pay extra it would help, but nothing seems to be working.

Hello Rusty06,
We are thankful for your feedback regarding your experience with the Ring Spotlight Camera. We are constantly pushing ourselves to develop products to empower users with an affordable, effective way to monitor and secure their home. In pursuit of our mission to make neighborhoods safer, when applying technologies to our business, we always consider our three pillars of customer security, privacy, and user control. We understand how important it is to have your devices working as intended, as it offers a level of security in your home.
After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Spotlight Camera is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below:
Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off).
If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.
Additionally, if you have not already, please check out our Ring Community forum where other Ring users, like yourself, have an open discussion platform to share their experiences, as well as solutions to issues experienced: https://community.ring.com/.
