Connectivity issues are generally traced back to nearby interference or other distance related factors. Please know that we are here to help you find a solution.

If you haven't already, please visit the Device Health portion of the Ring app to review the RSSI reading. RSSI is an indication of the camera's current internet connection. Numbers ranging in 70's or 80's may present a problem when connecting to your device.

The Device Health page will also help you test your internet connection and provide tips on how to resolve common issues.

We know the importance of trusting the motion alerts from your Spotlight Camera Battery. This device should provide you with accurate motion detection, so you know when activity is happening in the areas they're monitoring. Rest assured, we are here to help.

The Ring Spotlight Cam Wireless features PIR motion sensors. These sensors detect heat signatures of moving objects in the areas you set up in the Ring app. Once you've completed the in-app setup for your camera and connect it to your wifi network, you will be directed to customize your motion settings. This will ensure the areas you want covered are included, and when motion is detected you will receive a motion notification.

Spotlight Cam works great at eye-level, or slightly higher. At nine feet from the ground, the camera can cover a wide visual area, as well as capture HD video of visitors' faces. When Spotlight Cam is mounted too high, it often gets angled sharply downwards. This can work if you're only looking to detect motion in a very small area, but more often than not results in not detecting approaching visitors or capturing the top of heads when the motion sensors are triggered. Having peace of mind that your device's battery door closes securely, so the battery stays in place, is important. This ensures that the device is powered and online to capture any wanted or unwanted visitors on your property. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with a couple tips and tricks to resolve this quickly for you!

When recharging and reinstalling the batteries in your device, do you hear a "click" noise when closing the battery compartment door? Please try to firmly close the battery compartment door. It might take a little pressure, but you'll know it's secure when you hear a click. Then generate a motion event in front of the device when it comes back online. The message within the Ring app should disappear after a new motion event is captured. The Ring Spotlight Cam Wired-free is designed to connect you to 1080p HD video consistently and reliably. We understand how important the video feature is, as this allows you to see your visitors.

Poor connectivity can sometimes be caused by a wifi issue. We recommend running a distance test in order to discover how quickly the video loads when at your router, compared to how it performs when mounted. For the best results, please do the following:

1. Remove your Ring Camera from its mounting and bring it into the same room as your wifi router.
2. Be sure you've turned off your cellular data and connected to the same 2.4GHz wifi network as your Ring device.
3. Open your Ring app on your smart-phone or tablet.
4. Trigger a motion event on your Ring Camera.
5. Examine the resulting video.

If you find that the video is clear, and you are connected fast, then we recommend improving the wifi signal to your Ring camera by connecting it to a wifi extender, such as the Ring Chime Pro. However, if you find that the video is still of poor quality or takes too long to load, then you will want to address issues with your wifi speeds.

It’s important when selecting a location to remember that the Spotlight Cam is designed to be placed at an optimum height of nine feet with the motion detector parallel to the ground. This will put the motion sensor in a perfect position to detect human-sized objects at up to 30 feet away.

Our Spotlight Cam comes with a mounting plate that, depending on its orientation, allows you to mount it on a wall or under an overhang. To mount the Spotlight Cam on a wall, insert the mounting plate with the ball socket pointing down. To mount on an overhang, insert the mounting plate with the ball socket pointing up. We know that every home is unique, and depending on your vinyl siding you may need to install a vinyl siding mounting block (not included) to provide a level, flat surface, before installing the provided Ring mounting plate. We understand how important it is to have your security camera installed to secure your home. Ring Spotlight Camera - Battery comes with everything you need to quickly and easily complete your installation. Please know we are here to shed some light on the issue.

The included Ring screwdriver comes with a reversible bit, one being a phillips screw bit and the second a torx 6 bit. The torx tip is the one you should use with the security screw located on the mounting bracket collar.

Thank you for your continued investment in home security through Ring. Yes, one can purchase either a Ring Solar Panel or a Ring Super Solar Panel to supplement the batteries in this device. By using one, you can expect a daily trickle charge to help prolong the time between manually recharging the battery. We're here to help shed some light on the subject.

We also recommend users adjust certain settings through the Ring app to ensure they get the best experience. The below-mentioned settings can be adjusted to conserve power:

* Snapshot Capture
* Motion Frequency
* Video Recording Length
* Advanced Motion Detection

The Power Settings menu helps adjust these settings. To find it, please launch the app and open the menu in the left-hand corner. Select the Devices tab and then select your Ring Spotlight Camera. The Power Settings tile will be listed on this page. Please follow the guidance within that tile to optimize your Ring battery.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life.
