      Hello Ring,

Thank you for leaving a review of the Spotlight Camera Battery and sharing your user experience with us. We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.
This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773. The more events are captured by your Ring device, the more your battery is used. Also, using Live View often can drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In order to prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change the motion frequency to "regularly or periodically," or adjust the direction of your Ring device, so it doesn’t detect as much motion.
If after trying these steps, you are still experiencing issues, we would love to investigate this further with you. Please feel free to check out our community forum at https://community.ring.com/for additional tips and support!
      Thank you,
      Jamila and the Ring Ring

I own two hardwire ring doorbells and two hardwire ring spotlights and I have not had any problems for the past few years. I decided to invest in a wire free version to expand my system. The wire free did not want to connect to my system. I tried many times with no luck and one time it brought down my entire system. I had to reconnect my chime and doorbell camera which was a hassle. I thought connecting this unit would be as easy as the rest but I was wrong. Maybe I got a bad unit.

Hi Cent, I know it's important to be able to get your Spotlight Cam up and running with the rest of your system. You should be able to follow the steps under Set Up a Device to get your Spotlight Cam connected to wifi. I'd recommend completing the setup with the Spotlight Cam near your router. If you run into any trouble during the setup process, we have some troubleshooting steps here https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217240386-In-App-Setup-Failing-Repeatedly. For additional questions or concerns, check out the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/ to find answers from other neighbors. Best, Ashley from Ring. Ring

      Hello Angela,

Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review of the Ring Spotlight Camera. At Ring, we believe that stronger communities are the key to safer neighborhoods. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home, and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. We are saddened to read that this device did not meet your expectations, but are still here to assist you, if needed.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble keeping your Ring Spotlight Camera battery charged. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment and preserve battery life. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Here is a helpful article that explains this feature in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency.

Hi Bigpapa148. I understand the importance of having your Spotlight Cam online so you can rely on it and have that sense of security. Checking what the RSSI is on the Device Health page in the Ring app will give you a good indication on if your Spotlight Cam is receiving a strong wifi signal or not. Sometimes moving the router closer to your Camera can improve the connection, as different materials can weaken the signal strength. For more information, check out this Help Center article: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Understanding-RSSI-and-Wifi-Signal-Strength. If that information isn't helpful, you can browse the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/ to find the solutions from other neighbors. Best, Ashley from Ring. Ring

      Hello Adam,
We appreciate you for bringing your Ring Indoor camera experience to our attention. The Ring Spotlight Cam is a High Definition (HD) security camera with spotlights designed to be mounted anywhere you need some extra security. The Ring Spotlight Cam features 1080p full HD resolution, two-way audio, HD video recording, and a wide viewing angle. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern. After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Spotlight Cam is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below:
Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off).
If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.
Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
Wait for your internet to be restored.
Here is a helpful article which walks you though additional steps to take if the issue still persists for you after your modem/router reboot: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217240386-In-app-Setup-Failing-Repeatedly.
Additionally, if you have not already, please check out our Ring Community forum where other Ring users, like yourself, have an open discussion platform to share their experiences, as well as solutions to issues experienced: https://community.ring.com/. Thank you, Jamila with Ring Ring

Hi Elizabeth. Being able to keep an eye on what's happening around your home is a key feature of your Spotlight Cams, and I'd be happy to offer some help. If you find that your Spotlight Cams are missing motion events, you may need to adjust some motion settings. Try reviewing the information in our Help Center article here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022462472-Utilizing-Motion-Detection-with-your-Ring-Battery-Devices. It can take some trial and error to find the combination of settings that work best based on your home environment. Hello Jess,

We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security. Your Ring Spotlight Cam is intended to provide this for you. Please know that we are here to assist and are confident that we can find you a resolution in a timely manner.

The more events captured by your Ring Spotlight Cam Battery, the more your battery is used to power the live HD Video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the Live View to look or speak through your camera. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, adjust the motion frequency to best fit your needs, or adjust the direction of your Ring device.

Ring Spotlight Cam contains advanced Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors. In order to pick up all the motion you want to capture, it helps to understand a bit about how Spotlight Cam's sensors work, and how to position your Spotlight Cam for maximum effectiveness and battery life. This article has more information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003821023-Proper-Positioning-for-Your-Spotlight-Cam-Battery.

I have a solid wifi connection. Cameras were placed close to the access point and did not work well at all. Most times I wanted to see live view it would crash. I think this system is not ready to be on the market. Not stable enough for a security system. Customer care was very supportive but couldn't make it work well even after sending new units to me.
