Well I'm sorry to say that the motion lights do not come on. I want to return it buy I threw the box away and I live 60 miles from this store. I have two ring cameras and that is why I bought this spotlight cam. The package was not sealed and I presume that I got a camera that had been returned as all the parts were not available. I will purchase from Ring direct in the future. Bummer, Bummer, Bummer. I would recommend this item. But I don't trust the Santa fe store.

I own the battery operated Ring doorbell and hardwired, outside security camera. These units work flawlessly so I purchased this unit for use inside of my home. Unfortunately, it has never worked properly. The Motion Zones do not turn off and on as they are designed when changed through the app. I work from home, so turning off the zones during the day is necessary. I like to turn on the Motion Zones when I am not at home. This function has never worked. I have had 6 troubleshooting calls with Ring but the issue has never been resolved. They sent me a new unit and it has the same problem. There is an issue with this system that needs fixed.

Great camera so far. Setup was simple, camera has good image quality both day and night, field of view is really wide and the spotlights are bright. What has really surprised me is the battery life is excellent considering how much I've played with it in the first week. I also love that it has a spare battery compartment and therefore I have ordered and extra for $20.

      Hello Melissa,

We understand how important it is to experience timely Live View video from your Ring Spotlight Camera. This device should deliver video in a genuinely useful manner. Its installation was designed to be easy, and includes a tool to make attaching the camera simple. Rest assured, we are here to help.

Please ensure that your camera has switched to your wifi extender's signal. Otherwise, you won't notice an improvement with the internet connection. You can do so through the 'Device Health'section of the Ring app. If you have a Chime Pro, you can learn how to use the Chime Pro Network here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003763123-Connecting-an-Existing-Ring-Product-to-Chime-Pro

To easily attach the camera into the mounting bracket's socket, please use our included screwdriver to remove the security screw. Then, push the ball on the back of Spotlight Cam into the socket until it pops into place. Make the necessary adjustments to your device's positioning, then tighten the security screw.

Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ for some additional tips and support. We look forward to hearing from you.

      Hello DJKP,

Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review of the Ring Solar Panel. We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security, and having an unresponsive device can be concerning. Please know that we are here to assist and are confident that we can find you a resolution in a timely manner.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Solar Panel is not fully charging your Ring Spotlight Camera Battery. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could cast a shadow on your solar power device, such as an extended roof, tree branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.

The solar panel requires direct sunlight. Filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your doorbell/camera. Here is a helpful article that explains this in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005282806-Solar-Panel-for-Spotlight-Cam-and-Stick-Up-Cam-Battery-Information.

      Hello Teresa,

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team is always striving to improve our products and their performance.

We understand the importance of being connected to live events in the moment. We recently released the Rapid Ring App, which was designed to facilitate a speedy response when answering notifications. Rapid Ring is a "light" version of the classic Ring App with most of the features stripped out except for Ring device statuses and the ability to activate a Live View and respond to an event as quickly as possible. By using the Rapid Ring app instead of the original Ring App you'll be able to answer your notifications as quickly as possible.

Think of this app as a companion to the Ring App. You'll continue to use your original Ring App for all the settings functions built into your Ring devices such as checking video history or adjusting motion and video settings.

One of the most important measurements in your Ring security network is the strength of your wifi signal. There are three main factors that can weaken your wifi quality:

      - Physical Obstructions: Certain materials can reduce the range of wifi signals (or even block them). Here are some examples of things that can interfere with your Ring device’s signal strength:

Heavy-duty walls and floors made of materials like concrete, brick, or metal.
Household objects such as fish tanks, bookcases and mirrors.
Windows made of Low-E glass also cause interference.

While other materials like wood and glass don't have as much effect, the more walls and floors between your router and your Ring products, the more interference you're likely to see.

      - Competing wifi networks: If you live in a densely crowded area such as a big city or apartment building, there can be dozens of Wi-Fi networks around you which can cause interference and lower the quality of your network. If you open the wireless options on your mobile device or computer and see a long list of networks, you may be experiencing this type of interference.

-Other electronics: This is a difficult kind of interference to detect, as it can come from almost anything—even from appliances such as microwave ovens and baby monitors that aren't connected to your wifi network. The biggest source of electronic interference though, are those appliances that use the same Wi-Fi network as your Ring device to perform their basic functions. These include cellular phones, iPads, other smart home devices, TVs, and video game consoles.

Please reach out to us directly via our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ so we can find a solution to best resolve this and ensure the device is functioning as it was intended.

Motion detection does not work reliably. I mean not little mishaps but missing entire events with people in detection zone. This has to be one of the worst purchases I have made this year. Also there is a software bug that sends continuous warnings about an open camera battery door. The door is closed. They can't or won't or don't care to fix it so every time I open the app that's an annoying modal dialog making a bad experience worse.

      Hello Djsolis,

Thank you for taking the time to bring this concern to our attention. The Ring Spotlight Cam Wire-free is intended to provide you with a reliable connection to your home security. I want to provide you with a few possibilities and solutions for this concern. When dealing with battery draining quickly, the first thing we want to look at is inclement weather, which may impact your batteries operation. Extreme heat and cold may cause your battery to drain quickly, or shut down to preserve function. As we are in the colder winter months, there are specific temperatures we may want to keep in mind:

36 °F (3 °C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in you having to charge the unit more frequently.
32 °F (0 °C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5 °F (-20.5 °C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.

For more information on things you can do to help prevent these concerns, please follow this link to our Help Center on Ring.com: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005939463-Cold-Weather-and-Battery-Powered-Ring-Doorbells

Sometimes, the weather may not impact your device, and we have other factors to consider such as device activity, user activity, and occasionally the wifi connection. I would love to get you connected with one of our tech specialists today, so your concern is resolved in a timely manner: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406-Contact-Us

      Hi Moom,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate the value and trust you have placed in Ring for your home security needs. The Ring Spotlight Cam Wire-free is designed to bring you peace of mind with reliable performance. By using one, you should be able to see, hear, and speak to your visitors.

Although distance does play a big part in the overall connectivity and quality of the live video, there are other factors to consider. Nearby interference, network limitations or a combination of both can also affect your cameras' ability to connect to quality video in a timely manner. For example, if your cameras are mounted on a surface that is made out of heavy-duty materials, an otherwise strong signal may diminish as it passes through those. Materials such as metal, brick, and cement could prove to be a challenge. Do you happen to have your cameras mounted on or near something like this?

While Ring batteries can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment. Battery life is heavily dependent on frequency of use, therefore, please consider the following. If you have located your device in a high traffic area, please ensure the motion settings accurately reflect your needs. For example, you could reduce the size of the motion zone to pick unnecessary movement and thus save battery life. If your needs require maximum performance, consider using a Ring Solar Panel. These can help trickle charge the battery and extend the time between manual recharges.

Our priority is ensuring you to have devices you can rely on to keep you connected to activity around your home. Please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support!

Please see our help center article for more information on the Rapid Ring App: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028023571-Rapid-Ring-App-Information.

Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our neighbors. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The system sent notification, the the light came on but couldn’t view video. Called their customer service after doing the on line troubleshooting. Tried to view on a different phone (also a iPhone 6) but no luck. Their customer service is great (tried many things, patient, really tried to get it to work). Had to take it back. My friend and sister in law have the same system and love it. Not sure why I couldn’t get video. Once again, their customer service was great.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
