It is important that the features available to you on your Ring Spotlight Cam meet your needs and expectations. We do appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring product for your home security.
Poor video quality can be attributed to the wifi/bandwidth connection. One of the most important measurements in your Ring security network is the strength of your wifi signal. You may run a special connectivity test at any time to see if a bad wifi connection is responsible for problems with your device. We have included step by step instructions below:
-Open Ring app
-Hamburger Menu/ 3 Lines
-Select Devices
-Select a Ring device
-Select Device Health
-Select "Test your Wifi" under the Tools Section
-Tap "Start test
-Once the test is done, Enter your Results from the Speed test

Too many false alarms

The 20 second video is inadequate.

It stops right in the middle of the motion and after the 20 seconds, users cannot tell if the action is continuing.

Based on your review, it seems that your motion settings may not have been properly setup. If you notice your Ring Spotlight Camera is not recording motion, we recommend adjusting your motion settings within the Ring App. Adjustable motion zones are now enabled in all battery-powered Ring devices, and use passive infrared (PIR) sensors to detect motion. By enabling adjustable motion zones, it allows you to adjust the sensitivity of your existing motion sensors. You will also receive only the alerts that you care about most. Adjustable motion zones work by identifying visitors based on a change in temperature, and sending a notification to your smart device when it detects one.

Waste of Money

Two big downsides are the motion detection are severally lag and you will have to pay $3 monthly fee to view any camera history. Which means you can only view the live camera if you don’t want to pay for the subscription. Since the live view is always delay which means you will never see anything unless you paid for the subscription service. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!!

Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. Defective - both cameras

Keep getting error message that the battery doors are open on both units. After "attempted" troubleshooting, Ring is sending 2 replacement units, hoping that they will work. Overall, wasted several hours of my Saturday.

The Ring Quick Release batteries used in these devices were designed with longevity in mind, and should provide lasting performance. We know how important it is to rely on your battery powered cameras, and we are here to help.
If your Ring battery has stopped functioning, please ensure that it is fully charged. The LED lights on the battery will glow green when it is finished charging.
If your concern is regarding battery life, the below-mentioned settings can be adjusted to optimize battery power:
* Snapshot Capture
* Motion Frequency
* Video Recording Length
* Advanced Motion Detection
The Ring app provides a convenient Power Settings menu that helps adjust these settings. To find it, please launch the app and open the menu in the left-hand corner. Select the Devices tab and then select your Spotlight Cam. The Power Settings tile will be listed on this page. Please follow the guidance within that tile to optimize your Ring battery.

Before anything, we appreciate the time and investment you've made in home security through Ring. Although you may no longer own your Spotlight Cam, we are still here to acknowledge your concern, and provide some assistance wherever we can.
The Ring Spotlight Cam is intended to help users secure their homes. By providing 1080p HD video, two-way audio, and real-time motion detection, one can stay in the loop with events happening around their home.
Although wifi is very useful, it does have its limitations. An otherwise reliable wifi signal can experience issues when nearby interference, or distance, gets in the way. Common causes of interference are brick, metal, cement, and other electronics.
For those experiencing issues, a good place to start is the Device Health page of the Ring app. Here, you can test your internet connection, review the RSSI reading, and find links to common solutions on improving your connection to your Ring devices.
Please note: your RSSI reading should be between 40 - 60, and be displayed in green text. If yours is higher than that, and in red text, please select the question mark next to it for more info. You can learn more below.

We know how important it is to have your devices charged and online to secure your home. Although this device supports a second battery, most can go with using the single battery that is included. You should be able to connect to your camera's Live View in a timely manner. Our team is here to help find a solution.
If you haven't already, please check the RSSI reading through the Device Health section of your Ring app. A high RSSI reading can indicate a poor wifi connection, thus causing battery drain and Live View connection issues. Doesn't work

The camera in front of my house, doesn't even record me when I drive in and out of my driveway. Nor does it record me when I walk in front of it. When a car drives on the street, it sometimes stops recording in the middle of the car driving. Also not happy with camera in back of my house as it stops recording also. I am worse off with these cameras than before I bought them as I spent lots of money, but still do NOT have security nor peace of mind.

This doesn't sound right. With regular use, your battery life should last you between 6-12 months. With that being said, battery life is contingent on usage so the volume of alerts you receive per day will affect it but we can provide optimal settings to conserve your battery. Rest assured, we are here to resolve your concerns and ensure you have a device you can rely on for the long term.
After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Spotlight Camera is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest-working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below:
Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off).
If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.
Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
Wait for your internet to be restored.

Monthly payment for your own videos

I find it greedy, I get that the is just focused on the subscription service everyone is doing these days but there are plenty of other home security camera services that you can use that don't ask for the monthly subscription that have the same quality I recommend using one of them instead.
