    1. Out of a box, battery is not fully charge. Indicator shows that battery life is 100% but after 12 hours. The battery life went down to 6%. And you’ll get a message the battery is critical low. 2. Motion detection is great but once time of 8 days using motion detection recorded a black screen for 30 seconds with Ring.com logo at the bottom left corner. 3. Battery last for 2-3 weeks not between 6-12 months as Ring claims. 4. Sometimes it takes 15 seconds or more to loading up the video. My Internet speed is 1000 Mbps. After all, I liked wide angle view, 2 way talk at the same. I installed the Ring Spotlight Cam inside my garage.

I have the doorbell and its been great so I figured I get everyone in the family the 2 spotlight Cameras for Christmas and myself. Well I hope they like them.....I'm not a fan at all. I set them up and loved them at 1st. I got to watch my horses in their stalls and make me feel a lot better when I have to travel. Then just one day with all the sensors turned off and the light my battery life went down 10% in one day. that means I have 10 days on the battery....Tech support said that is to last 6 months...hahahaha good one! Do the math on that one. Then I want to watch Netflix as a family and my internet would not work the movie kept freezing. So I call my internet provider and guess what they say Do you have the "ring doorbell or cameras"? I was shocked, and asked how they knew. She said; I guess it was a big gift this year and everyone is having the same issue. The ring cameras take up SOOOOOO much of your internet speed its INSANE!!! Guess what I'm doing tomorrow morning? taking them down and returning them. This is a HUGE hiccup for the Ring Doorbell and Cameras. VERY VERY Disappointed. Unless you have upload of 20 and Download speed of 100 you might be okay.

      Hi Greg,

Thank you for sharing your experience and I am so sorry to hear about your disappointment. Battery life is contingent on usage so the volume of alerts you receive per day will affect it but we can provide optimal settings to conserve your battery. I'd like to work with you on resolving these issues and turning this experience around for you in hopes to keep you a part of the Ring family. Would you contact me today at [email protected]?

The picture and sound are great. I have 7 of these cameras. Three are outside, The only down side about these camera is when the outside temperature reaches the negative all my outside camera goes off line. I also have two stick up camera outside to back these camera up because at negative 20 the stick up camera still work. Hope ring will improve these spotlight camera and make them to outstand the freezing cold like the stick up camera.

    BUYER BE WARE!

BUYER BE WARE!!! Don't buy the Ring Spotlight Cam if you expect two batteries and a Chime Pro to extend the life of the batteries before needing to recharge them. I bought 2 Ring Spotlight Cams on the same date. I was very excited about them because I have other Ring security cams that I love. BUT, when it comes to the Ring Spotlight Cam Wire free cam: with 2 batteries in each one and working WITH my Chime Pro, they only provided me 4 to 5 days of battery life before I had to recharge the batteries. I am so disappointed in my purchases of the Ring Spotlight Cam wire-free. I have to recharge each of my Spotlights every 4 to 5 days. I'm told that if I had the solar panel for them, I wouldn't have to recharge my batteries as much. That is an additional $100 with taxes. If I had known that small detail, I would not have bought the two Ring Spotlight Cams wire free. When it comes to the Ring Spotlight wireless Spotlight Cam, buyer beware!

      Hi UNHAPPY.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Spotlight Cam Battery online and working properly so you can keep your home secure. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Spotlight Cam, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like the battery is draining quicker than expected. The rechargeable battery can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured.

There are different settings that can be adjusted in the Ring app to help prolong the battery life of your device. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring App that allows you to customize Motion Alerts to your home environment and preserve battery life. Ring devices detect motion patterns and frequencies. The Motion Frequency Controls help adjust the devices for repetitive patterns of motion. The following Motion Frequency Controls can be found in the Ring app:

Frequently: Motion detection always stays active, resulting in the shortest battery life.
Regularly: Motion detection takes a short break after each Motion Alert. Medium battery life.
Periodically: Motion detection takes a longer break after each alert. Maximum battery life.

If you need assistance adjusting your settings for optimal performance, we encourage you to reach out to our support team.

Nice picture and makes the house more secure. Bought two extra batteries for the cameras and very happy with the battery life. Been up for 2+ weeks and batteries are in high 80%. I have a dog so cameras come on pretty often every day. Very happy with the product. Very easy to install but hard to get camera in base, do this a couple times before mounting to make it easier once base is mounted.

I've had the ring battery spotlight cam for 5 days. It's been a big disappointment. First of all the health page shows all systems are good. I've contacted support and they don't know what's wrong. Live view works 5o% of the time, when it doesn't work you can't pull up a live video and it doesn't record events. 75% of the time when an alert drives you to pull up a live feed or if live view actually works there is so much feedback noise it's unbearable. I sent a video to support and they don't know why. On a good day when you try and load a live view it takes 5 seconds to come up. On average the 50% of the time live view works it takes over 10 seconds to pull up. Like I said the health page shows wifi signal is good and the camera is online. The web app says my battery is critically low but the IOS app shows its 84%. I'm returning it for a wired floodlight cam. The downside is I'll have an unsightly electrical cord running up my siding and into my soffit.

I purchased this spotlight camera to help keep an eye of my property especially with the increasing car break-in in my neigborhood. One of the most useful thing about it is the notification/alert it gives you when it detects motion. It also turn it’s light on immediately which help deter anyone from doing unlawful things. A bit pricey but that added peace of mind makes it worthy. I gavebit 4 satr due to occasional disconnection from the wifi even when i have the chime pro/wifi extender.

    Battery Life is a Joke

Do not buy this camera, battery life it terrible. I purchased 2 and I get about 6 days out of them. Product says 6-12 months, yeah right. Maybe if you turn everything off and just let it sit there. I contacted Ring customer support and they said that battery will drain faster with motion detection, well whats the point of having motion detection turned off to save battery life? They weren't any help at all. If you do want this camera, I highly recommend buying the solar one, because the battery life is terrible and I would love to hear from the people who say they can get more than a month on one battery......shoot a week for that matter.

I am a first time user of these ring product , I waited for my husband to be off to get them installed to find out that the batteries were not included. Customer service told me that my return duration expired yesterday. I should have bought them form Amazon rather. Soo dissappointed and upset. Hi user237592.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We understand how important it is for you to receive a product that is in working order when it arrives. The security features and technology provided by the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery are incredibly valuable to your peace of mind, and receiving a device missing parts is not the experience we want any of our neighbors to encounter during the purchase process. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device you received was missing a battery. The Ring Spotlight Cam Battery includes one 6,000 mAh Ring battery pack in the box. It has the ability to hold two Ring battery packs for long-lasting battery life. If one dies, the device automatically switches to the second battery for power.

In this particular case, we'd suggest you reach out to Best Buy's customer service: 1-888-237-8289 or https://www.bestbuy.com/services/triage/home. We are confident that they will be able to provide you resolution to this order concern.

I have read so many bad reviews and I have found nothing that I do not like about the Ring2! It has given me a very secured feeling about who is at my door and it works perfectly! No complaints here and I even bought one for a Christmas gift! I am not the brightest on installing things like this but it was so easy and had no problems! So glad to have made this purchase! Love it!

Crappy system, not worth the money

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The $3,000 mistake. After my car was broken into, I decided to install security cameras.  A friend had Best Buy install a Swan system at his house and he was very happy with it so I went over to look at it.  I liked it so I contacted Best Buy and scheduled a consultation.  The guy who came out told me that because I had a two story house (my friend's house is single story) I couldn't use the Swan system and would need to go wireless.  He recommended the Ring system.   I bought 8 of these cameras along with the solar panel chargers and an Aero WiFi (this was an up-sale because the installer said the Google WiFi I original bought was not powerful enough.  Coincidentally he had an Aero WiFi with him at the time of the installation!).  BIG mistake.  From day one I've gotten between 400 and 500 alerts a day.  Adjusting the motion zones to minimum for all the cameras reduces this number down to about 100 alerts.  I get so many alerts that I need to recharge my phone twice a day. 95% of the alerts show no activity other than the breeze rustling leaves or my wind chimes moving.  I fail to understand why these crappy cameras don't have a sensitivity adjustment.  I mean who wants to be woken up in the middle of the night because a cat wanders into the back yard! A human yes, a cat no, I went to Ring's website to see if i could salvage this costly mistake and found that the Geek Squad didn't understand Ring's guidelines for installation. First off two cameras are pointed into the setting sun.  According to Ring, this is a no-no.  I admit I told them where to mount the cameras but I should have been advised that this might become a problem.  Also motion over sensitivity should have been considered when places cameras around shrubbery. Here are some of the other things I've encountered: One camera doesn't start recording for about 10 seconds and you barely get a glance at what caused the alert. One camera will send an alert for a car passing 120 away but I can jump up and down, wave my hands 10 feet way from it and it doesn't send an alert.  I can see myself on live view but no alert.  This is the camera that covers where my car is parked.  I can walk all the way around my car and get no alert.  How effective is this going to be if my car is ever broken into again! Another camera will also send a alert for motion 50' away but I can walk out the door and cover 20' to the garage and I get no alert.  Again I can see myself in live mode so I am within the camera's field of vision.  This same camera sends an alert when the breeze is rustling the leaves in the trees but it ignores me! I don't even bother to look at the alerts anymore; when you get one every five minutes or so, you realize it isn't practical to look at all of them.  I can only hope that the presence of the cameras are a deterrent because the system is so flawed with false alerts it isn't any help catching someone in the act. I now wish I had read all the terrible reviews before I spent all that money but I guess what is done is done.  I will now explore what steps I need to take in order to return the system to Best Buy. This experience has really put me off on Best Buy and the Geek Squad.  Don't buy Ring!

I like the image quality, however, on several occasions it is unresponsive. We’ll get a really long load time and then it says live view ended. It’s really irritating considering the times we want to view it are when we hear something out back. Most times it works well though. Not sure if I’d recommend to a friend or if I’d say do more research.
