    works half the time

When you need these ring products to work they fail 98% of the time. It doesn't record motion until the person is gone or it freezes halfway through. Would be a great product if they didn't blame the consumer for all the app issues...black screen....frozen screen.. not loading images. If anything goes wrong I wouldn't have an accurate account.

I had Arlo it was slow, picked up movement on video 1 min after the person left! Ring get it asap and the clarity is WOW. Easy to install and comes with everything you need incl the screwdriver! I love the support and the features you just cant beat it. The app interface has tons of things you can do with it. Im RING ALL THE WAY!

    Not great, not awful

I've been using multiple Ring products for 4 years, give or take. First, even though Ring insists their products are "security" products, they are not...they are surveillance products. Having set that bar, expecting security from these cameras is expecting too much. The very nature of these products creates a latency issue that I have complained to Ring about for a long time, but they just blame the latency on the wi-fi. Having defined these cameras as surveillance devices, I will say that they serve that purpose pretty well. I've had several issues with Ring equipment and when all things are considered, I do tell folks to consider Ring, but not without many caveats. For the money, Ring stuff is just OK.

I bought this camera set to have a sense of security for my grandma and I. And the salesman told me that this was a good security and that the battery life was 3 to 5 months, but after I charged the batteries up and installed them the charge lasted about less than 2 weeks.

Overrated!!!!! Too expensive for service you get!

These are piece of junks!!! I wasted too much money for these overly rated device when you can get different brands way cheaper and with more than comparable quality. I had two (even bought solar panels for each), and they are on their way to the trash: 1. LAX security infrastructure, remember the infamous hack in to a child's room installed with this junk device; 2. Even with presets done on their app to avoid unnecessary motion detection other than people (squirrels running, tree branches and winds humming, etc.) It records just about anything I don't really need to see, BUT missed ALOT of those actual person intrusions in my property that I know occurred, and nowhere to see any recordings on these USELESS cameras; 3. CENSORHIP of postings on their "Neighborhood" features - this company has jumped in to the PC bandwagon, that it pulled out my posts making a plea to my community to take action about matters of security and safety in our neighborhood, i.e. the controversies about the law enforcement! it is so laughable that whoever who reviews your posts claimed it's not within their parameters, and yet they allow another police precinct from a suburban city to post theirs to campaign for support and community participation by the neighborhood. And of course.. they would also have postings appeared in there about cats, dogs, fox roaming around and people talking incessantly about unconfirmed incidents of gunshots that is really becoming so annoying. THEY DO NOT HELP! Forget it. Too expensive. Not worth your money. Look for brand like Geeni and other real cool surveillance cams here at Best Buy. You do not even need to pay for monthly subscription. It is a MONEY PIT! For what???

    Waste of money

Let me start off by saying I used to love Ring products. When I first looked into getting cameras for my home, I decided to get the doorbell pro and 2 floodlight cameras. It was easy to install and setup. I learned that the cameras are sensitive and don't pick up signal that well. I upgraded my home to an Orbi mesh network which helped with the connection issues I was having. I also upgraded my internet service package. There was one side of my home without a camera, but also no way to hardwire one there. That's where the spotlight camera came in. I also have the solar panel to keep the batteries charged up. Since day 1 the spotlight camera works intermittently. It detects motion when there isn't any, and a lot of the times the video recorded is a black/blank video. I've also stopped receiving motion alerts and recordings. I've reset the camera to factory and set back up, which did fix the motion recordings. However, no matter how I position my router/satellites, I still have issues with live view and blank videos being recorded. I came across some forums online that believe it's because the Ring cameras powered by battery go into a power-save mode that causes them to disconnect from wi-fi. Upon motion, linked, or live-view the camera doesn't reconnect quickly enough for the video to start recording. Tech support has been especially useless, with almost every single contact being a poor experience. I've spent so much money on upgrading my wifi system and internet package to just have Ring support blame "interference" and my connection as being the cause of the issues. The hardwired cameras don't suffer the same issue, and some of them actually have worse signal than the spotlight battery.

    Disappointed

I purchased the ring system (doorbell, two cameras) and I am extremely disappointed with the system. First, the system only records in 20 second increments once a motion has been triggered. A couple of times I get a recorded alert and I see the backside of a person as they walk away. There is no way to extend it further. Often people walking don’t even trigger an alert. I bought the system primarily to monitor my house when i am out of town. Not once, but twice the camera disconnected from the network when out of town. There is no way to reconnect it remotely and have to wait until I get back. The doorbell is ok- but the unstable system and lack of 24 hour recording makes me regret purchasing the system. I see they no longer even sell the inside cameras- if just getting the doorbell - it’s cool. If you are looking for a complete system go with a competitor

The picture resolution on most of these is not even close to 1080i. More like 480i. He battery lasted me 8 days on a full charge. The detection zones are poor at best. I had to walk up about 15 to get detected. Being the battery version it turns in after the subject is way to close. My Wyze camera at $25 is better. I am glade I returned it and didn’t have to pay for poor service. I bought it to pair it with the Ring Security which is a very good buy. I wish ring update its zone dectection and put the inferred lights outside the white plastic to be brighter.

      Hi MyWatchBling.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here today to provide you with solutions that will assist you in finding the best device settings for your home’s environment.

With normal use, the rechargeable battery for your Spotlight Cam security camera may not need recharging often. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home environment, such as the weather and the number of activities captured.

You only need one battery for your Spotlight Cam to work properly. However, if you want extended battery life or don't want to experience any downtime charging the battery, a second battery is available for purchase.

When the areas that you're monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. The Motion Frequency Controls can be found in the Ring app:

Tap the three lines on the top left.
      Tap Devices.
Select the device you'd like to adjust.
      Tap the Motion Settings tile.
      Tap Advanced Settings.
      Tap frequently, regularly, or periodically.
Tap Save in the upper right corner.

    DECENT

Ring spotcam showed RSSI 71 when connected to to my modem, which is not a good signal. So, I connected spotcam to my ring chime pro, which my ring doorbell is connected to. The signal still shows RSSI 71, but my ring doorbell is RSSI 51 and the spotcam and doorbell are close to one another. I can, most of the time, still veiw my spotcam. I like that it does detect movement and sends me notifications, but not when it's just my tree blowing in the wind. Need better enhancement to detect human presence, not a leaf blowing. Reminds me of "the camera that cry's wolf."

    So far not impressed

I purchased the Ring Battery Operated Camera on a Firday. Four days later on a Tuesday we had heavy rain. The next day I notice that I kept getting a message the battery door was open. I checked multiple times and in fact the door was closed. Because of the error this caused issues with the camera functionality, the motion sensors failed to work and I wasn't receiving notifications but I was able to live stream. I took the camera down and I noticed condensation inside the camera lens so I immediately took the mount down and went back to Best Buy. So much for being waterproof....I am hoping it was defective. I received a new camera mounted it backup and so far will see how this one goes I am not confident it will go well. I gave 2 stars because the installation and set up was easy.
