Not Bad but Not Great

Constant Battery Door Open Error
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We've had our wireless Ring Spotlight camera for a year (purchased the first one in June 2018 and another in October 2018) and everything worked great until summer of 2019 and the device we bought in June kept giving us a "battery door open" error message every single day since. No matter how many times we carefully tried to make sure the battery door was closed and that the button on the back clicked into place to indicate it was closed, we still received the error message. The 1-year warranty period is expired and there is no recourse for this faulty product. Video is spotty now and there are times when we try to view video if there is an alert and the footage goes black after a few seconds because of the battery door problem. We really depended on this camera for safety and now we are stuck with something that is not covered.

Error battery door

The error message will not go away and to add to that problem we charged both batteries last week and they just went completely dead today. I’m going to call Ring tomorrow in hopes that the device is still under warranty.

Ring Spotlight wire free

I still need to contact Best Buy about this .

I would evaluate your RSSI, which is found in the Device Health section of the Ring app, and possibly move a WiFi access point closer to the camera. cameras rarely connect

I must have re-set the cameras 50 times over a 3-4 week period. Very seldom could I get a "live view" on the cameras. I have 1Gbps download speed and 200 Mbps upload speed, so it is not my wifi. Would never recommend Ring to anyone.

LIVE VIEW CURRENTLY NOT SUPPORTED ANYMORE

It only has the banner on top of the screen and you have to click on it to see full camera view. Have to be a Ninja, cause it disappears real fast. Already had an issue with it yesterday, as we had someone come to our gate and by the time we realized it, the person was gone. These cameras are no useless for me to use. This is what I received after sending them a message: Hi Sharon, thank you for contacting us today. Currently, automatic Live View is no longer a supported feature in the Ring App.

All Ring Video Doorbells and Cameras have Live View built-in. The Ring app will allow you to trigger a Live View video on demand. Additionally, one can tap on a recent Ring notification to answer a caller in real-time.
Most phones allow you to customize the amount of time a notification stays on your screen. Please visit your phone's settings to make the necessary adjustments.

Same day delivery is a joke

I ordered these in the AM because when i went to the store the sign said they open at 10 am. So i waited 20 minutes. Then when i went up front the sign was removed and turns out they open at 11. So i come home exvited i am a total tech member to enjoy free same day delivery. I waited all day to avoid porch pirates. Then i get a text saying they cannot deliver today . Right before they close. Lesson learned

This and probabaly all RING products are crap

Works just fine until you find out you have to pay something like $4/month to have it work as required - which is to notify you for motion and allow you to view the event that triggered the sensor. Expires after 60 days so return is not possible. So after about 60 days and paying $199 I am stuck throwing away my investment. Understand this is not a Best Buy Problem or issue - but a product problem and thje mfg does nothing to increase customer satisfaction or resolve it.

Piece of junk !!!

It never really worked very well out of the box. We moved and have tried to activate with a new location and new internet system . The activation fails , due to “ already registered to a different owner “ . I’M THE OWNER !!! TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK, WASTE OF MONEY ! My wife and daughter have the alarm on their phones and can activate theater from their phones, but last week my Phone can’t access the alarm. SO FRUSTRATED BY RING.

If you got a message saying that your Ring device is registered to someone else, this means at some point, another person started the setup process in the Ring app. If you purchased it from a retailer, you should return the device and request a replacement. Don't get ring very poor camera and support is wor

Support for ring is beyond bad wanting you to hit buttons that don't exist on the camera. Only to hang up on you because they can't help. Do yourself a favor go with another security camera brand. The pitcher looks good on them unless you need to zoom in then the quality of the picture is very poor.

To connect your Ring device to your new wifi network, please follow these steps:
- Open up the Ring app and tap on the three lines on the top left.
- Look for Devices in the list on the left side of the screen.
- Tap Devices.
- Select the device (camera, doorbell, etc.) you need to reconnect to wifi.
- Tap on Device Health on the bottom of the screen.
- Tap on Reconnect to Wifi or Change Wifi Network.
The app will walk you through selecting your new wifi signal from a list of available networks. Please note, you will have to locate and press the set-up button on your Ring devices when prompted to. On your Ring Spotlight Camera, it is located on the top, flat portion of the device.

GARBAGE, you will lose $ and have broken cameras

Then a few weeks later the same thing happened to another camera. Then the next 2 eventually quit connecting at all. HOURS on the phoneyy and chats with Ring. No refund and I lost $400. DO NOT BUY. THESE ARE JUNK.

If your devices are continually falling offline, the problem is almost always related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss. However, in rare cases, this can be caused by router settings. The first thing we recommend trying is rebooting your router. If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Junk

I called ring and they only replaced 1, but told me the warranty on the rest of them were up and there was nothing they can do. I will never buy this product again and I will not recommend anyone to get this product.

We appreciate the investment you've made with Ring and understand how important your safety and security are. Ensuring you have working cameras is our top priority. It is imperative when reaching out to our community support team you are provided assistance and solutions.
If you've ensured the battery pack inside your camera is fully charged, and it is still not responding, a hard reset may be needed. To complete the reset, please hold the setup button down for 15 consecutive seconds and then release. The camera will take about one minute to complete the reset. Please allow a couple of minutes and then attempt a brand-new set up within the Ring app. Once the new setup is complete, please test the camera for improvement.

Absolutely the worst camera

When trying to connect to the WiFi on my device to set it up it wouldn’t appear on my WiFi list. Followed the instructions to perfection and no success. Bringing it back to Best Buy today and getting my $200 back!
