    Extremely Versatile Indoor/Outdoor Camera

The Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery is a very versatile battery powered camera with a variety of mounting options allowing for ease of installation in places where an outlet or POE network connection isn't available. When removing the camera from it's packaging, the first order of business is to remove and charge the battery. Depending on the charger, Ring says expect 5-10 hours to fully charge. I plugged into a Leviton USB equipped wall outlet, and charging took a long time. Close to the upper end of the quoted charge time. Ring sates in their literature that using their charging dock results in the shortest possible charge times, so if you are deploying several of these, it might be worth the investment in that and a spare battery to make for quick battery swaps. Prior to installing the camera. I downloaded the Ring App. set up an account, and added the camera to my account. Setup in the app was simple, just follow the prompts, scan the QR code, and enter the Wi-Fi password. In just a few minutes, you'll be up and running. The Ring account sign up comes with 30 days of Ring Protect service as a trial. Without a paid account, you will have no access to recordings, but can still view in real time, as well as utilize two-way audio. You can also participate in the Ring Neighbors app, which provides information about events others are seeing in your area. Installation is extremely simple. The mounting arrangements available include any flat surface at almost any angle. The mounting base can be moved from the bottom to the back with just a Phillips screwdriver. The base clips into a plastic plate, which is in turn secured to the mounting surface with four self tapping screws. wall anchors are also included for mounting in masonry or drywall. Video quality is excellent full HD 1080p HDR. The two-way audio quality is also very good. The camera offers night vision which has always been good with Ring cameras and doorbells, and tis one is no exception. the 3D motion detection feature works well and helps extend battery life when properly configured. Overall, the Stick Up Cam Pro is a versatile, easy to use option for placing a security camera where cords don't reach, but Wi-Fi does. It is important to remember that weak Wi-Fi will lead to poor performance if you try to get too far away, but for my use case, this little camera is the perfect solution.

Great picture and sound quality, Pre-roll is a +

Because the first day I could use my Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery Indoor/Outdoor Security camera was a rainy day, the text of this review may be biased based on how I tried to set It up as an indoor camera when my original plan was to set it up outdoors. It can be used either indoors or outdoors, so I felt I could review it based on indoor performance. Not only is the picture quality good (which you expect from Ring), there also wasn’t much delay in the live video relative to actual time. If I made a motion, it reflected a second later, on the live view. The sound quality on the camera also sounded clearer than I’m used to over any other camera we have (this is our 10th active Wi-Fi security camera). Also, the camera roll that catches motion just before motion detection was triggered seems like it is extremely helpful in getting a fuller picture of the motion that occurred. (Sometimes, with any of these kinds of cameras, motion is triggered late). The battery is the standard ring camera battery pack used across recent ring devices. In our case, we had at least one battery on a charger fully charged, so we could get up and running quickly. In an indoor setting, I ran into issue where motion detection through a Window was not working well – but they warn you about this when you set it up as an indoor camera and it asks if it will be placed in a window. It does detect some motion through a window, including detecting people walking on a sidewalk ~15 feet away, and cars in the street beyond that. There was also an issue with lack of notification sounds from the Android Ring App but doing the equivalent of reinstalling the app fixed that. You'll note that the menu options say you can turn on features like HDR and Color Night Vision, but they will consume the battery faster. The same thing is also true if you want "frequent" notifications of motion, as opposed to the camera going to sleep for a period after motion is detected. Since this is the battery version of the camera, you may decide you don’t want to use those features (if you were planning to). If you instead decided to set this up as a wired device (which may require extra accessories), that is less of a concern. I would recommend this camera, especially if you're already using the Ring app with other devices.

Great addition to the Ring Family

If you have any other Ring products like the doorbell, then this will be a great addition to your setup. Having this will provide an extra set of “eyes” basically anywhere around your home. Since I already have two Ring doorbells, setup was truly a breeze. Just open up the Ring app, go to settings, and click add Stick Up cam pro. From there the app will have you scan a QR code to add to your system. There are a few more guided steps after that and then you will see the camera on your dashboard. The view of this camera is so clear for us. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to keep it inside or outside but ultimately I mounted the camera outside. I needed to have a camera that points to the side of my home. With this camera I can now see this and more. It’s battery operated so this allows me to place it pretty much wherever I wanted. The only downside is having to take the battery out every now and then to charge. I can see everything so clearly. I know it’s not 4k but it sure does seem like it. There are absolutely no problems with the video and this camera is just as good as any on the market. It was super easy to mount as everything you need to mount comes with the package. The bracket slides right off and once the bracket is secured, the camera slides right in. It’s kinda bulky in my opinion but that doesn’t take away from its functionality. I had to adjust the sensitivity due to all of the notifications for every passing car. It became pretty annoying in a short amount of time but I was able to create a zone to only receive notification inside that zone. Pretty neat feature but I believe most security cameras have this nowadays. The audio is very clear as well. I had my dad help install and when we tested the audio it was very clear. It may have taken us no more than 30 minutes (if that) to install. If you already have a ring doorbell then I highly recommend this camera. It’s a needed extension to your Ring system. I read that there is a solar panel for purchase from Ring also. I may invest in that so I won’t have to get the ladder and charge the battery as much.

This is a recent addition to the Ring family and if you have subscribed to the eco-system, this will not disappoint you. If you are not, it will work just fine except you would not be able to go back and see recorded footages prior to 30 days. Set-up is super easy. You will not need any tools except maybe a screw-driver. Once you have it up and running and connected to the wifi and the app, just put it where you want to set it up. For me the perimeter scan was not needed as I put it in a place where the only traffic would be from animals. We live in an acreage so animals do come at night and it sometimes gets worrisome when we take the dogs out at night. This installation saves us a lot of headache. The wifi connection is sharp even though it is now mounted outside. The motion detection has worked flawlessly and since we are not keeping an eye on people movement, I have not been stressed by any lag, and honestly, I have not found any. The resolution is good and just to help at night, we have a motion detecting light mounted side by side and in my experiments, the light has helped immensely with the resolution. If you have Alexa with the screen, you can connect to the camera. The speaker works well. The build quality is good and the stand is flexible. The camera is a bit larger than what we expected. The ring app is awesome and well thought out and everything works seamlessly. You can spend time and play with the app to make things look the way you want. Honestly, I do not have anything major con to share about this product. I am hoping for a good battery life but it has been just to early in the game to have a clear opinion about that. One note: the lower end of operating temperature is supposedly around -5 F. So if you leave in the north or the upper mid-west and northern plains, this might not be a good fit depending on your climate. Highly recommended.

Great camera with not so great mounting hardware.

The Ring Stick Up Cam has great video quality with a fussy mounting bracket. Connecting the camera to the app was a relatively painless process. It did end up taking me two attempts as the camera struggled to find my WiFi network on my first attempt. But once it connected, the setup process was an absolute breeze. The app gives you a variety of different options in terms of motion sensitivity and notification frequency. You can also program a “blind spot” if you don’t want to constantly receive notifications for certain areas (i.e. a sidewalk that children walk on daily). The camera can be used both indoors and outdoors. I’m opting to use it outdoors mounted to an exterior wall to monitor my front door. The camera has a rechargeable battery that surprisingly uses the older micro-USB standard instead of USB type-C. The camera itself has a USB type-C port on the back (I believe this is for the optional solar panel that you can purchase separately for this camera). Image quality was nice and sharp, and motion notifications seemed to hit my phone quickly with very little lag. Now for the not so great . . . The mounting hardware that comes with this camera is fussy and unpleasant. The instructions for reconfiguring this to mount on a wall aren’t very good, and you have to unscrew and rearrange multiple pieces to reconfigure the swivel arm. Once reconfigured, the range of motion isn’t terribly good either. You can tilt the camera “slightly” in just about any direction, but emphasis on the word “slight.” Fortunately, the camera itself offers a nice, wide field of view. This helps make up for the poor mounting angles. The Ring camera supports an optional subscription monitoring service. I value my privacy, and I don’t intend on taking advantage of this feature. Fortunately, the camera works just fine as a self-monitored device. Assuming that you don’t need to position the camera anywhere too unusual, then I think this would be a fine choice for a home monitoring device.

Wireless camera that runs on battery power

Ring is a very well-known name in the security camera business, mainly for their doorbell cams. This is a portable, wireless camera that runs on battery, only needing to be charged periodically. I've been using mine for 5 days (with lots of foot traffic in the area where the camera was, so lots of alerts and videos) and the power level was only down to 88 percdent. You can mount the camera with the included stand, either having the stand on the bottom, like if you were going to mount it on a railing or fence or putting the stand on the back of the camera so you can mount it to a wall or door frame. I didn't permanently mount it at first, just setting it on a post on my railing, so I could try a few locations before I decided. If not permanently mounted, it could get blown over by wind, so be warned. Setting up and charging the camera itself was easy. They include a USB cable to charge with. You have to download the Ring app to control and setup the camera. That was a little difficult, since they set it up with the app, then want to set it up with your phone number and then want to link it to your Amazon account (since Ring is owned by Amazon). Once the app was set up and the camera placed, it worked fine. It can notify you when there is an alert, you can select a lot of options on when and how you're notified and the level of sensitivity for the camera. The camera video and audio quality is excellent, even with night vision. One thing I don't like is that you can't save videos or review them later unless you have the Ring Protect Plan (a monthly or yearly subscription fee). Without the Plan, you are limited to real-time alerts and viewing what is happening live. You can also talk to someone over the camera. I think it would be better to have some type of storage on the camera (micro-USB card, etc) for people who don't want to pay a monthly or yearly subscription.

Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery does it all. It can be used for indoor and outdoor In conjuction with Amazon I can ask my Alexa voice command device what is going on from inside the house. Some of the features that come with latest new Ring Camera are: -Completely Wirefree -Bird's Eye Zone -Two-way talk -3D Detection -1080 HDR Video and Color Vision The Ring Security Camera can be used on flat surface or wall mountable that adjust to whatever angle is best. I decided to use it in my home to keep an eye on my sweet puppy Gilbert while I am away or in another area of the house. The Ring Stick Up Cam has an easy setup with the Ring App to download for operation. I noticed that the battery took a long time to charge but once it is charged you are able to pop it back into the bottom of the Ring Security Camera. The Ring App guides you through the setup of indoor or outdoor and connect to your secure wifi. I mounted the Ring Camera on top of my mantal with a wide view of my living room area. There is Live View and Living Room area that I labeled as location for my Ring Camera. The picture has good quality and full range of my living room at 1080 HDR video and color vision. The Ring Camera comes with many features to personalize for your specific needs. I would like to see higher video quality in the future.

I'm a happy user of the earlier generation of ring battery stick up cameras (all with the solar panel option to eliminate trips up the ladder) as I have six of them spread around the house. I was excited for a chance to review this new camera. It came with a few surprises. First, the barrel socket for the solar panel has been replaced by a USB-C socket. I had to order an adapter (roughly $15) from another site. The barrel socket is quite snug so it should be watertight. The new USB-C socket is vertically mounted on the back under a substantial lip so it should also be watertight. I'm really hoping for minimal maintenance which is why I mention this. Anyhow, I replaced an existing Ring camera and discovered that the grey plastic adapter that mounts to the wall is slightly different from the earlier generation so the old one had to be removed and the new one installed. The new one uses four screws instead of the two that the previous version used. Setup was a breeze. The App recognized the new camera and quickly guided me through the steps to get it working. I love the HDR video and the 3D motion detection (which was easy to set up and seems less prone to false positives from the neighbor's driveway). All in all, I highly recommend this improved Ring stick up camera.

This RING stickup camera is the perfect addition to my home security setup. I’ve had it for about 5 days now, and I am very pleased. Very easy to setup out of the box, and even easier if you have had other ring services and already have the app downloaded. I will say it took a very long time to charge out of the box, I can’t say exactly how long because I fell asleep but it is something you may want to leave charging overnight and check on in the morning. That is to be expected since the battery life is meant to last much longer than other cameras. It comes with everything you need to mount, including extra screws. You can either follow the instructions in the app, or the paper instructions included. The camera paired to my WiFi with no issues, and I was able to have it mounted and setup all within a 20 minute period. You have several different mounting options, and also you can use it indoors or outdoors as well. Mine is mounted outside and you have so many upgraded features that include privacy zones, and bird eye zones so your camera only picks up what you want it to. Overall very satisfied with the product, and the RING app is a step above others with staying on top of all things happening in my neighborhood to be aware of.

I have numerous Ring Cameras & they are wired or plug in since dealing with charging batteries can be a challenge. This new Battery Stick UP a camera is quite a bit larger than my plug in cameras. To charge the battery, you need to disassemble the device and an orange USB cord is provided. It took several hours to fully charge. Set up for a Ring camera is very easy as well as changing the settings. I just sat the camera on the mantel of my fireplace but it comes with mounting screws and can be used both indoors and outdoors. If you mounted it up high, it would be a pain to take down & charge the battery. This camera has an awesome picture as well as night vision. As much as I prefer wired or plug in cameras, there are times when you don’t have access to electrical power. I don’t know how long this battery charge will last or if it can tolerate cold weather since cold temps will drain the battery. The best thing about Ring products is their reasonable fee structure & their customer support. I am in the process of totally converting to Ring since one of the competitors have no phone number to call for customer support and their fees are much higher. So this is a good camera with many new features.

Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera is a very good security camera. The still pictures and live view recording are very clear and crisp pictures. The Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery records in 1080p HDR video and color. I really love that you can see the night-time pictures in full color with its 3D motion detection with color night vision and Bird's Eye zone/Bird-eye view. It also boasts 2-way talk which is very clear ingoing and outgoing. This is an indoor/outdoor camera that is weather resistant. Being battery operated, this is perfect for my older home that has limited outlets. Include in my box was the Ring Stick Up Pro includes camera, mount and USB-b charger for the battery. You can use this camera without the subscription and with limited features. With the subscription you may record and save your videos. The set-up was very simple. After charging the battery overnight it was ready to go. I first downloaded the Ring App and followed instructions. I had no problems connecting to Wifi.

I've used this Ring Stick up Cam Pro now for just a week and compared it to a few of my other Ring cams and doorbell. Very pleased with it so far. Super easy typical setup via my iPhone app just like the other Ring devices. A bit larger than the prior gen Stick Up Cams so if you are replacing one, make sure you have enough space to mount in case you are in a tight area. I've only used this sitting on a couple shelves so far (a few days in my basement and then a few days out in the garage). Picks up my wifi signal just fine. Motion detection seems maybe a little better than the prion gen. This one definitely has a wider view it picks up which is nice. Battery drain so far has been just as good as my others (I have sensitivity set to Max and Motion Frequency set to Frequently)....down to 83% after 7 days. Video quality has been excellent and nice to have a little pre-roll as well. May get another one of these to add to my home. Definitely recommend.

An OK Camera, but Wouldn’t Call it Pro

The Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera is just an OK security camera. The first thing you will notice is how large and heavy the camera is. It seems larger than many wireless/battery cameras that I have seen. Not sure why the device is so large. This was my first Ring device so I had to create an account. It was going well until it forced me to enter the address where the camera would be located. I was unable to get past that step so entered an address of a random business. This seems like a large privacy red flag and address should not be required. The other huge negative on this camera is that you have to have a subscription plan if you wish to keep recorded video past your trial. The subscription model is getting out of hand and security cameras should have on-device storage capabilities. I won’t be paying for the subscription once my trial ends so will just be notified of real-time events. The video is clear, both during the day and night, but for a “Pro” device, it should be in 4k, not 1080p. But the HDR option does provide crisp video overall. Will have to see how the battery holds up over time as the camera is used outside, especially in the cold. It is relatively easy to charge the battery (though it takes many hours to charge from empty to full it seems). There is a wired option (wire and plug sold separately) if you wish to keep it plugged in all the time. The camera comes with settings and customizations you would expect to see on security cameras today. That includes motion sensitivity, zones, motion alert scheduling, etc. Overall, it’s not a bad camera, but with the pro moniker with only 1080p, the requirement to have to have a paid account to save videos, and the forced process to provide your address, I recommend folks needing a security camera look elsewhere.

I don't find that this Ring security camera is reliable enough for outdoor monitoring. It would be fine using it indoors. The battery takes a while to charge before being able to set up the camera in the app. Once it is charged, the app setup can be a bit tedious to set up an account. If you already have a Ring account, it says it will automatically connect to that account. This is my first and only Ring product so there was a lot of verifying back and forth between the app and my phone and my email before it was finally convinced I'm me. Connecting the camera to wifi was easy and the walk through set up was easy to follow. But I find the settings to be lacking in options. For instance, I've found no place that I can choose which events I would like to monitor (say I want the camera to ignore cars and animals). I can choose an area to monitor, and I can add pets, but none of the many animals that pass through are mine and they can keep the camera busy overnight. The video is clear and night vision looks fine, but be aware that this camera does not have a spotlight to help deter intruders. I have other security cameras outside so I know that many events (cars, people and animals) that this camera has missed. It also identified a person as an animal and a car as a person. It's not reliable for outdoor use, I feel it would be best suited for indoor use.

      Hi BarbM.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is to have your Ring Stick Up Cam Pro capture all the correct motion events. The Ring Stick Up Cam Pro was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to person detection. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."

Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
      Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
      Tap "Motion Settings."
      Tap "Smart Alerts."
      Tap "Enable Feature."
      Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Stick Up Cam Pro, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Camera quality is lacking for a ‘Pro’ device

I have the previous version of Ring stick up cam with battery, so some of my feedback on this camera will be in comparison to the model that I have been using. My first impression when unboxing this camera was that it is BIG. Compared to the previous stick up cam models I have, this camera is significantly bigger and heavier. I’m not really a fan of the size of this and am not sure why it had to be so big. The previous model stick up cams were small and compact. I set this up inside my house, but this thing is an eyesore because of how big it is. Really wish this had been sized more like the previous stick up cam models. When moving the camera around on the indoor stand provided, the camera was wobbly. This probably isn’t a major issue since the camera seemed to stay still when not moving it, but it was surprising how wobbly it was on the stand. This didn’t happen with the previous model stick up cams. Given that this is bigger than the previous model and weighs more, that is probably why it was wobbly. It seems like the stand on this could have been made to better stabilize this camera. Given that this is called a stick up cam ‘Pro’, I expected some pro features with this device. This device does not feel ‘Pro’ to me. Several other cameras on the market now offer 2K and 4K cameras. This camera only has 1080p. The crispness of video footage is lacking in my opinion, especially for a pro device. There are some details such as text at certain sizes and distances that you would be able to make out if this had a 2K or 4K camera. The clarity and crispness of video footage on this device is lacking and does not capture details that would be very helpful to see. This camera advertises some extra features such as 3D motion detection, Birds Eye view, etc. While these might be nice and helpful in some circumstances, I don’t think these are groundbreaking features. They seem a little gimmicky to me. I think having a better quality camera would have been more valuable than those features and would have made this feel like more of a pro camera. I have other Ring cameras as well as the Ring alarm system, so it is really nice that this camera integrates within that ecosystem, and Ring definitely has some great features to go along with that. Ring’s app works great and has many different customizations that you can set up with motion detection and other functionalities, so that is definitely a positive with this device. Overall, I don’t find this camera to be much of an upgrade over the previous model stick up cams that I have. In some ways, this is actually a downgrade because of how big and bulky it is. Additionally, my other stick up cams are mounted outside and have a built in connector for Ring solar panels, so they can stay charged year round and the panels can plug right in. With this new stick up cam pro, you have to purchase an adapter to be able to plug in the Ring solar panel. The stick up cam pro is already significantly more expensive than the regular stick up cams, so it is disappointing that you would then need to buy an additional adapter just to be able to use the solar panel with this camera outside. Honestly, unless there is a feature unique to the pro that you really want or have a good use case for, I wouldn’t recommend this camera. In my opinion, this camera is too big and bulky and it doesn’t have any compelling features that justify the higher price and large size. If this had a 2K or 4K camera, I expect the price and size would be easier to justify. It is really disappointing that this is missing a better quality camera, and given that, I don’t think Ring should be calling this a ‘Pro’ device. It certainly does not feel like a ‘Pro’ device to me and does not feel like an upgrade over the regular stick up cams that I have had for the last few years.

Hi Liam. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback with us. We understand the importance of having your Ring Stick Up Cam Pro record clear and concise videos. The features and technology provided by the Stick Up Cam Pro are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring Stick Up Cam Pro has advanced features including: 3D Motion Detection with Bird’s Eye Zones and Bird’s Eye View, Audio+ for enhanced audio, HDR video, and dual-band wifi. The dimensions of the camera are: 6.06 in. x 2.76 in. x 2.76 in. (153.9mm x 70.0mm x 70.0mm).

Ring devices require high speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can effect the performance of your Ring device. Diagnose and fix common video issues you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.

Here are some examples of video quality issues:

Overexposed, washed out videos: Washed out videos may be due to overexposure to sunlight.
Poor wifi signal strength: A decline in wifi signal strength may be caused by a weak connection between the router and your Ring device.
Traveling signal strength: This may be due to a wifi dead zone in your home where you loose signal strength between the router and your Ring device.

Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In edition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.

Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
      Tap Devices.
      Select your device.
Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera.
Answer the event and examine the resulting video.

We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:

Footage is crisp and clear: If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extend your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
Footage is heavily pixelated: If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
Severe pauses in Live Video: If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
Long delay before your video starts: This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on, Then see if there's any difference when it's back on line.

While there are no video settings that allow you to change exposure from sunlight, there are other ways you can fix overexposed, washed out videos. Using a wedge kit or corner kit can to change the angle of the doorbell. There are many different corner kits and wedge kits, so make sure you get one that is compatible with your particular model of doorbell.

Works great except the bird's eye view is blurry and i don't see the window for bird's eye view all the time. Not sure where to navigate and to see via bird eye view.
