We bought 3 Ring cameras and 2 Ring door bells. We like the technology, but the recording times are very short. The cameras will turn on when a person or vehicle enters the yard, however after a minute the camera will turn off.
If the person pulls in your driveway and sits in the car for a minute before getting out of the car, the Ring cameras will not turn back on when the person exits the car. The cameras can’t read license plates either. I called Ring tech support and they said the recording times cannot be extended; we were very disappointed that the recorded time can’t be extended, that’s a serious flaw with their software.

Hi Rincam.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam Elite are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. We'd like to clarify that wired Ring devices do offer adjustable recording lengths of 50, 60, 90, and 120 seconds. You can select a longer duration to capture more footage during motion events. To change the recording length of your security camera, please follow these steps:
Open the Ring app. Tap the Menu (☰). Tap Devices. Select the device you want to adjust. Tap Device Settings. Tap Video Settings. Tap Video Recording Length.
Regarding continuous motion detection: Ring cameras are designed to record in segments when motion is detected. If someone remains stationary (like sitting in a car), the camera may stop recording until new motion is detected. To improve detection, adjust motion sensitivity and zones in your app.
We are happy to provide you with more information regarding your concern with the video quality from the device. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. We recommend downloading video clips prior to zooming in for optimal resolution.

Got the cameras on 05/24/2021 and they worked briefly before going off line. Am waiting until after the holiday before calling Geek Squad for help.

Hello Tomjh,
The Ring Stick Up Cam is designed to work in many home environments to provide you with peace of mind and a sense of security. Please be sure to push the included power cord in firmly, until you hear a click. Next, if you're not able to successfully complete a setup, try rebooting your modem and/or router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, these devices like to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance.
Your Ring Stick Up Cam has an LED light located on the front to show you the status of your unit. A blinking blue light can indicate several statuses, including setup mode, or in most cases the device is doing a firmware update after setup is complete. Here is a helpful article regarding all the light patterns of your new device: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038641472-Understanding-the-LED-Patterns-On-Your-Indoor-Cam.
