doesn't RING!

It is connected to my former doorbell. My understanding was that it would charge from the doorbell transformer, but it doesn't. Every 2 months I have to remove it for charging. Also I expected it to ring my doorbell. It doesn't work. I had to buy a separate Ring bell which connects via WIFI.
