If you are currently a satisfied Ring Doorbell (generation 1) user and are interested in upgrading to Ring Doorbell 2 - I would definitely advise you to pass this up and stick with the original. After 2 days of messing around with the Ring Doorbell 2, including expensive upgrade of my wifi infrastructure - I'm returning it. I have been very happy with my original Ring. I decided to add a second Ring, and purchased the Ring 2 to install in place of the original Ring so that I could move the first generation doorbell to a second location. I was looking forward to the improved motion detection and video quality that I had read about. Unfortunately I was disappointed to find that the Ring 2 works sporadically at best. I found that it works great right after you set it up, but then very quickly stops alerting for motions and rings as well as not working with live view. I have troubleshooted quite a lot (including resets and reinstalls) as well as even deciding to finally invest in upgrading my wifi infrastructure. Unfortunately, even with the snazy new expensive wifi infrastucture, the same connection problems persist. Meanwhile, the original Ring Doorbell is still working like a champ. I have to say, I wished that I had saved myself the headache by reading the reviews and seeing that connection problems are not uncommon.
