Replaced the existing door bell with this Ring video door bell 2. Very easy to install - comes with all wiring options, tools etc. Good video quality and instant notification ring app. Nearby incident reporting is great - need subscription for this feature beyond the trial period.

I finally came around to purchasing the ring. Decent device with an app that links to the neighbor app which is great to know whats going on in your area. The quality of video is decent but it might just be my wifi cause sometimes it gets stuck or wont catch motion detection. But overall good product and can become addicting to check.

Cons: battery charge and protection plan

Easy to install. Decent picture quality but the battery life stinks. It say 6 to 12 months. Ours lasted a month only. Of course we live in New England the cold temps reduce the battery life. Also no where on the packaging does Ring inform customers buying Ring 2 that there is a necessary plan you must buy if you want the videos to be able to save and be share the videos ie with the police or neighbors. Without it you have 5 to 7 seconds to view the image the doorbell captures. It would take me longer than that to dig my phone out and access the ring app. fortunately it costs only 30 dollars a year but Ring should be up front and put it on the packaging. The earlier version ring 1 has less video quality but you do not have to pay this yearly charge to view and share the videos. Without purchasing the plan with ring 2 you just have another doorbell. Come on Ting. Let’s be up front about your product

I bought this wanted to have some sort of security camera since Im limited with what I can do where I live at the moment and this was a perfect fit! The camera is extremely clear the quality drops a bit when the night vision comes on but not enough to complain about. Would recommend.

I have the ring doorbell 2. I have been using it for a few weeks and love it. I had no doorbell prior so I was not able to hardwire it. I am using the rechargeable battery and it lasts a long time. The battery has been in for a few weeks and is only at 50%. The set up was very easy.

Most of our neighbors have a Ring Doorbell. We had children ringing our old doorbell and running away. This bothered the dog and the last time it happened she fell off the ottoman! So now we are safe from those little scalawags. The video is clear, sound is good. Installation went well. Happy as can be.

We’ve had this doorbell since Black Friday, and it’s been excellent so far, except for a few minor issues. The good: • Wide camera angle- I can see my entire yard, even though the camera is angled slightly away from it • Camera quality- it’s pretty good during both night and day, considering it’s a video doorbell. I’d love if the quality were even better, but it’s fine. • Audio/One-Way Video Chat- this has actually been super useful. I’ve had a couple instances where I’ve had to use it, and it’s been great. The not-so-good: • Motion Sensor Range- some might consider this a pro and I do as well- to a point. I’ve had several instances where my phone has gone off saying there’s motion at my door, only for me to see that it was only a car passing by on the street. It sounds trivial, but gets annoying after a while • Speaker Quality- it’s really not the best. But, it’s an outdoor video doorbell, so I wasn’t expecting much in the first place. Overall (and so far), I’ve had a pretty positive experience with this doorbell. Compared to the other doorbells Ring offers, this is a relatively middle-of-the-road one. So, if you’re willing to splurge a bit more, go for it. If you’re not, and want to stay under $200, I’d say this is a pretty good option.

Unit works flawlessly as expected. My only con which is why I gave it 4 stars is because the 2 way talk option has a lot to be desired. Volume level is very low and the person you are trying to talk to through the app cannot hear you unless they are right up on the unit. Sure wish there would be a simple firmware upgrade to fix this issue in the near future but I would assume that Ring will release a new version with louder speaker which will force you to buy another unit. Other than that - the unit is compact and I love the lithium battery which makes it portable. I recently used it during our home remodel. We moved all of our personal items into the living room of our house and I moved this unit and placed onto a shelf to keep guard to watch not only our personal belongings but also to keep an eye on the front door entry. It stayed on that shelf for a week with constant video recordings triggered for motion due to the entry and exit of the remodel crew and never lost but maybe 20% of battery life after all that recording and live viewing at times. This is surely a multi-purpose unit so don’t just think of it as a doorbell video camera. Now - if Ring can only fix that speaker issue......

Easy setup. Video is very clear. I had to drill through brick, so if you have to do that, the drill bit that comes with the kit is not very good. I was only able to drill one hole with it. Went to hardware store, bought masonry bit and drilled remaining holes with no problem.

    Installed and Prevented a Burglary

Installed the Ring Doorbell 2 on 12/15/2019. Burglar was detained by police on 12/21/2019. I am extremely pleased. We were 1000 miles away from home. I was alerted by the App at 7:21 and 7:22 AM. I called my dispatch center on my cellphone. The dispatch center sent the local police. The burglar was apprehended, his drugs were seized, and he was arrested on an outstanding warrant and new charges. I was able to share the ring video with the arresting officers by email and they were able to use the video to confirm they arrested the correct person. I was also able to use Ring live to watch the police gather evidence outside my home. Two things: 1. You MUST know how to contact the correct dispatch center for your local law enforcement. 911 doesn't do the job from 1000 miles away. I knew the number and called direct. That saved maybe 20 minutes and the burglar never got to kick in my door. 2. Ring worked GREAT!!! and saved my home and my Christmas Holiday.

I love this thing. Being able to see my front door from my phone and echo devices is fantastic. There is a subscription fee to keep recorded videos, but it isn't too bad. Video quality is decent too. So far battery life is good. Expect to get month before having to recharge it.

Installed easy, battery last quite a bit and fully recharged overnight. Image is great in Day and not too bad at night. Worth buying a backup battery. Connects with devices and accessories very easy. Sometimes a bit of a delay with notifications, maybe 20-30 seconds. Nice to see your family leaving the house while your at work and actually speak to them!

Was amazed with the ease of installation. The included angle brackets is a genius idea. I have solid wifi and it has yet to fail to show the video when getting an alert. I get an alert typically within 10 seconds. Since it is hardwired I haven't had to worry about battery. Overall solid product.

It does the job . It works really well for iOS devices , and it’s open ups fast when notifications arrived. I did have a slower response in my dads old phone (iOS 7). It was very easy to install, pro tip lol make sure u charge the battery all the way before you install it.

Love this Ring. Has a very wide view from my porch. I'm unable to wire it in and it came with the rechargeable battery. It lasts about a month. Able to see deliveries, which is very helpful. Its $30/yr to keep the recordings made, and that has come in handy.

We've been looking for a solution for outside our gate that didn't require us to run power or install a phone line. Ring works great. It is battery operated and the installation was simple. We don't have a strong WiFi signal at our gate due to the distance, but we still get our notices. It has been a game changer for us as we have been able to get contacted by deliveries, visitors and any motion within our designated distance outside our gate. Two issues we've run into is that the picture at night wasn't clear enough to get a license plate off a truck that damaged our property. Also, we've had issues answering the app when someone rings our bell and our phones are locked. The sequence of answering from an iPhone XR usually means we end up missing the notice. Some of that may be due to our slow WiFi connection or perhaps even user error, but what pops up when you swipe from a ring is not as simple as responding to motion. One other thing to note is if you want to be able to keep the video and not just view it live, you will have to pay for a subscription. There isn't an option to use an SD card or just have it record to your device. This was disappointing, but the cost for a year was only $30 so we went ahead and signed up.

Installation was super easy with included tools and drill bit. Setup was easy using the app. Captures what feels like almost 180 degrees, more than enough for what we need. Can customize sensitivity, notifications, etc. To be able to record and watch any past recordings must pay $3 monthly or $30 annually but we’ll worth it.
