That’s the only gripe I really have and thats considering I didn’t tweak setting to conserve battery. For being wireless it does a good job. Easy to install, good hardware provided.

Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. With Ring Video Doorbell 4, stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the features of the device. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring doorbell so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

Since I'm not very tech savvy, the associate helped me determine which Ring Doorbell fit my needs.

You can talk to people through it. It is very clear and understandable. The one we have is a little pricey but worth every penny.

Only thing is you have to buy a subscription for recording but it's not too much. Gives you peace of mind.

If you purchase an additional battery you will be able to keep the camera going at all times. When the battery dies I swap it for the new one

The quality of the camera is great and since I’m using the battery powered, I only have to switch my batter maybe every month or so.

Bought this, a spare battery, and the solar kit for prolonged life. So far it has been great. Quality of videos is amazing compared to older model.

Great camera otherwise and pretty good way to stay in touch with going on at your home.

They integrate well into smart home ecosystems and are overall very user friendly. The only drawback I have noticed is that without the monthly subscription for ring protect you lose a significant amount of the features and functionality.

Better and Worse than the Ring Doorbell 2

When it works, that is. For some reason my router keeps trying to connect using the 5 rather than 2.4 band, which gives me abysmal strength. 2.4 goes through brick better, and since these are outside, you'd think they'd give you the option to select this from the Ring App.

Wife had me return this item due to how big and bulky it is. We would have had to mount into the brick by the door instead of where the doorbell currently is, so we opted for the smaller version.
