The Ring Video Doorbell 4 was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.

Gives decent line of sight to whatever you have it pointed towards. Audio is also solid if you need to hear what's going on. Battery life is very good and the app provides alerts when it's nearing time to charge the battery. Some adjustments to the settings will be needed to provide exactly what you want. Highly recommend, especially if you don't want to hard-wire.

We bought this model of the pre-roll, pre-record feature, which is great. But this model does not have the delivered package view nor the delivered package alert, disappointing. We needed to replace an older doorbell, and picked this model for one reason, the pre-roll. In terms of video quality, no significant improvement over the 2nd generation doorbell.

It sounds like the device is not detecting motion as you expected. This camera uses Adjustable Motion Detection and runs using passive infrared sensors. Package Alerts can also be enabled under the Smart Alerts tab in the Ring app.
To enable Package Alerts:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Smart Alerts.
Tap Enable Feature.
Tap Continue.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the bell and the camera under Package Zone to enable Package Alerts.

They demonstrated their knowledge, skills, and abilities in installing the Ring Video Doorbell. Also, they showed me how to charge the battery and how to install the battery. They were personable, respectful and sensitive to my every concern, question, and inquiry. They responded with patient. Thank you for having them on staff.
