Ring knows the importance of having the motion detection work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.
It sounds like the Motion Frequency feature may not have been set up properly for your environment within the Ring App. Ring's Motion Frequency algorithm is an internal program that runs inside of your Ring device. It analyzes the traffic patterns of detected motions, looking for repetitive patterns. When it detects such a pattern, it essentially "sleeps" your device for a certain period of time, cutting down the number of motion alerts you'll get from the same set of stimuli. The more time a repetitive pattern of motion continues, the longer the time between issuing motion alerts. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. We would love to get to the bottom of this to ensure your device is operating as intended.
The more events captured by your Ring device (including live views), the more your battery is used. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your Motion Settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change Smart Alerts to Standard or Light, or adjust the direction of your Ring device, so it doesn't detect as much motion. Cheap Plastic terrible screws

If you over tighten mounting screws even a little bit it deforms the whole unit(very cheap plastic) Once it deforms the cover wont go on. Try to remove screws and they strip because they are made out of the cheapest metal known to man. GARBAGE. very disappoint with this purchase.

What building material are you mounting it to? If you are mounting the Ring Doorbell 4 on brick, concrete, or stucco, please put the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to get the anchors in. This should prevent the device from flexing and deforming as you install it. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.
This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773. The more events are captured by your Ring device, the more your battery is used. Also, using Live View often can drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In order to prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change the motion frequency to "regularly or periodically," or adjust the direction of your Ring device, so it doesn’t detect as much motion.

Good doorbell, bad deal.

Ring gives customers a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After the 30-days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan or not. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications.
