This is a great doorbell but only if you wire it directly into the transformer of your existing doorbell. Plus you need a strong wifi signal to get the images and reaction time you need. It works well but can be extremely sensitive to motion. It works best when you sign up for a year of cloud service and that way you can go back and see happened in the past.

This is a great invention! When I am busy around the house I can see who is at the door and answer I without coming to the door! Also works great cause I know when my kids are home from school!!

I read mixed reviews on the Ring doorbell before I bought it, but I decided to take a chance on it and I love it. The only thing I have not figured out how to get to work property is the motion sensor recording, which I am pretty sure I am doing something wrong to set it up. Other than that, I love the doorbell. I have mine hardwired directly to where the old one was and I get near real-time alerts once someone rings the doorbell.

I am so happy I bought this ring doorbell. It so easy to install and very, very useful. Even if someone is home we don't have to worry about opening the door to strangers. I can just talk to them through my smartphone. Or the best part was the situation when I had scheduled a service and I could't make it in time to be home, so just using the Live View option I talked to the person and immediately reschedule it for next day. As homeowners we highly recommend it to everybody.

It is not a high end video doorbell but it does its job. The software could be better as there is a noticeable time lag between alert notifications and videos available to view. It sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to process the video. Easy install (15 mins max), good and clear user/installation manuals. The neighborhood alert feature is nice to have.

Sometimes it captures motion, sometimes it dont. There seem to also be a delay.

This Ring doorbell gives me a measure of security that you don’t have with a traditional doorbell. The range of motion that it picks up is adjustable. When you’re not home, or home, you can hear and see who’s there. I didn’t feel the need to go for the upper price model as this one suits my needs perfectly. We hard wired it so never have to charge the battery. Very easy hookup. All tools included in box. A+++

I am using other 1st Gen Ring video doorbells, for three years so far. They hold up to the weather (heat/cold/sun/rain). The 1st Gen is not a motion senor, but a heat sensor. It is not triggered by falling leaves or swaying tree branches like the 2nd Gen doorbells. It works as designed and meets my requirements. This unit is battery powered has run for 4 to 5 months between charges.

I love the fact that the picture quality is very good and you could hear perfect. Easy set up

I purchased this for a Christmas gift. I am so excited to give it to the family member I purchased it for. I believe he will be very pleased with the gift. He is a Wi-Fi person from the get go!

Been meaning to get one of these for some time. The box came with instructions and tools and there were lots of videos on the Ring website. I had two install problems. First, the included masonry bit was junk and would not work on the stucco of my house. Luckily, I had my own drill bits. Second, and more confusing, was that it looked like the network setup was working but then got stuck. Turns out, after digging through their site, that the WiFi in the unit is only 802.11b or g and only 2.4GHz. I had my router set to 5GHz so it wouldn't talk to the Ring. After changing the settings on the router, it all worked. With that out of the way, it's been great. After the first, free month, I signed up for their web video recording feature. It's only $30/year and lets you see everything that's happened - either people pressing the button or via motion detector if you set that up. Great if you're away on vacation. Also nice that it comes in various colors and hooked into the existing doorbell wires for power and rings the old bell in addition to the phone alert. Will probably get another for a relative.

Excellent product. Simple to install and easy to use via your cell phone. I was looking for a security system that I didn't have to drill or run wires throughout my entire house and this is it!

I like the device. It is not without it;s faults. It's a little slow to connect and see what's happening from your phone but overall it works well and would recommend it

This camera has already paid for itself by allowing us to answer the door from anywhere. It really helped during the holiday time to know when our packages were dropped off at the front door.
