    Dependable Awareness of my home

I travel a lot for business and haven't even completely moved into my new home. This doorbell has given me the comfort of "being there" without being there... Along with great neighbors I've been able to receive packages, let servicemen in, and observe a neighborhood emergency and viewed policeman approaching my home at midnight - all in the course of 1 month. I am patiently awaiting the release of their security camera now. The clarity of the picture and crispness of sound makes this like watching a movie. I love that I can download clips of video to my phone. That was very helpful when I went to police headquarters to follow up on the policeman visit at midnight.

    RING VIDEO DOORBELL

Overall I'm elated with the product. I had a minor issue during setup, but with the help of Customer Assistance I was able to rectify the issue. My only issue is the inability to access the app on my Fire Tablet, Acer Tablet or my expensive treadmill tablet. I called Customer Service and was advised the app works with Samsung tablets. The app does work on my Dell computer and my Samsung smart phones. Bottom line is I like the Ring Video DOORBELL in part because it offers me the ability to see and record events taking place in front of my house 24/7.

Great Concept - Execution Not so Much

Bottom Line Up Front - There is nothing inherently wrong with the Ring doorbell once you get past the problems with Ring's MS Windows app and the Ring doorbell's setup instruction limitations. It is just disappointing that you must pay a yearly fee if you want to store video (and I assume audio) data from the device on Ring’s Cloud storage rather than having the option to store said data using your own media if you wish. Even without paying for storage, you can still use the Ring doorbell to answer your door remotely. You just don’t get the “nice to have” added feature of seeing when people are at your door when you are away from home without paying Ring a yearly fee. The Good Instructions for Physical Installation are clear and physical installation is pretty straight forward. Once I finally got it installed, Ring Video doorbell works adequately. The Bad MS Windows based App has major issues (Android App seems to work okay). Instructions for Installation onto your network are poor and it appears you MUST use a device that has a wireless connection to your network to install the Ring video doorbell onto your network (something not noted in installation instructions). Ring requires you to pay a yearly fee to store data from the doorbell in their cloud storage and provides no provision for local data storage (on a hard drive connected to your home network for example). Note that while "I would recommend this to a friend", I do so only with the above caveats. It is a shame because with a little more work on their setup procedures and more of a customer focus (instead of trying to make more money off their customers), this could have easily been a five star product.

As a whole, it gets the job done. The Live View feature only seems to work when it wants to. Doesn't always catch the motion alerts. I will get motion alerts from cars driving by on the streets, but not always when someone walks up to the door. The ring button sometimes takes a couple of pushes to work. I got it at the sale price, so I would still say it's worth it. Hesitant about buying the various outdoor lighting ring cams that I was looking at.

Most burglaries occur during daylight hours and are preceded by the perpetrator ringing the front doorbell to ascertain whether the homeowner is present. The Ring Video Doorbell's easy connection to your smart phone to allow a conversation with the visitor will significantly reduce the likelihood of a break-in. Increasingly burglars' recognition that most Ring video doorbell's owners opt - as I did - for the optional cloud-based video repository serves as evidence for the police, so will avoid such properties. Key to allow functionality is a very strong WiFi signal. I successfully boosted mine with a WiFi repeater (also bought at BestBuy.)

I like it a lot more than I thought I would! When someone approaches the porch, the separately purchased chime and my phone both give the sound of a wind chime. When the door bell is pushed it gives a ding dong tone. Yesterday fed ex pushed the door bell and I answered him from my cell phone in my office 35 miles away! I could see him standing there too! I know what time my teenager leaves the house and what time she gets home too because my phone gets alerts from the motion detector telling me someone is on my porch...if I choose, I can turn the camera on from my cell phone to see what's going on.

Got this on sale and for the purpose I think the resolution is suitable. The installation was extremely easy using the existing doorbell wiring. I don't like the subscription cost but at least it is fairly reasonable. One quirk is the motion alert will not stay enabled on the app but I probably wouldn't use it much as I would be inundated with notifications. Another quirk is that the camera starts recording a second or two late. I extended the motion zones but then this give more false positives Even with these quirks the product is great.

    Ring 2 Doorbell

I purchased two Ring 2 doorbells. They were easy enough to connect to the internet and link to my devices for viewing. I purchased a spare battery, but it turns out that these two doorbells do not have removable batteries, so that was money wasted. I ended need a couple of wedges to properly angle the doorbells. I thought I'd be clever and order them for instore pick up and avoid the black Friday lines inside. The web site indicated that they were in stock, but they were not. The order ended up being a ship to store and pick up at some latter date. The trouble was that there was no record that the order to my Best Buy account was in the queue, so I ended up ordering them from Amazon. The amazon order showed up in two day, while the Best Buy order arrived at the store two days after the Amazon order was fulfilled. Needless to say, the Best Buy order was not picked up. To summarize - the doorbells work just fine. The purchasing of accessories through the Best Buy web site, not so much. I also got a $10 Echo Show 5 which off set being sold a $30 battery that I can't use.

I bought this at the urging of my wife due to package thefts and other stuff in our neighborhood. All I can say is that I have fallen in love with this doorbell. Installation and setup was easy especially after watching a few videos on YouTube. I like the notification when movement is detected since the delivery people stopped ringing doorbells. That way I can grab the packages before they sit out too long. The field of view is excellent even with the doorbell pointing across my door and not toward the person standing at my door. I would definitely buy this again especially at the price I paid.

Easy to install with the included tools. I installed using existing wiring, with no problems. Had to install in corner of entry way but still had good viewing area. WiFi setup was a breeze. For $30 a year the cloud recording is a great deal. As far as false positives for motion detection goes it does pretty well, on ours it depends on the time of day when the sun reflects off passing vehicles. Not many though. The performance of this is going to depend on your Wi-Fi and internet speed. Great product.

Unless you have a very fast network connection, you're going to be disappointed with the performance of this device. Even if you do, it takes longer than I'd like to connect and start showing video on your phone, and there's sometimes pixelation and buffering. Battery life is also too short. I wish I didn't have to dismount it and bring it inside for a charge with the included USB cable every few days. I'd recommend this product, but with reservations.

I work from home (basement) & needed something to help me determine if the doorbell ringing was worthy of running upstairs every time (depending on if it's a customer or delivery). Just installed it and I can't be happier!! It works perfectly and will help me hear the doorbell and know if it's worthy of answering. Not to mention the motion detection...pretty cool!! Very easy to install! Super happy with this purchase!

I've had the Stick up Cam on the back deck for months, so we put a doorbell on the front porch...Work's good, as with any new product, some glitches, which can be linked to your wireless signal in your home, or your smartphone. As with any paid monthly security service you subscribe to, this over time should pay for themselves, and be cheaper in the long run. Clear picture most of the time, All in all we are satisfied with the security it provides...kinda fun to speak to the delivery guys when they aren't expecting it!!

    Great Doorbell Camera

Great doorbell camera. The biggest thing to consider though is to make sure you have a good wifi connection wherever you decide to place this doorbell. The signal was weak outside by my front door so I ended up setting up an access point nearby which allowed the Ring to have a good signal. The camera is very wide, people standing to the side of the camera can still be seen. Keep in mind that cloud recording is $50 a year. Biggest downside is that you can't access the Ring live on demand. You can only see live video if someone rings the doorbell or if the Ring detects motion. Video quality was pretty good in my opinion.
