This is easy to setup and very useful device to family home and neighborhood.

We purchased the ring because we needed a new doorbell and wanted to be able to have visual remote access when traveling. I thought I was ordering the pro version, which allows viewing from the device at any time (whether the motion or ring is activated). We still love this model, though. The battery life is really great - it's super easy to recharge using the USB cable provided.

The doorbell was easy to install and operate for beginners

This was a free item when I got floodlight, this door bell is not very responsive and I am not satisfied with it but it will have to do for now picture not that clear sound is good, I am guessing newer models are much better and improved from this one.

This product has the most unfriendly, lengthy and complicated set up of all electronics I own. To top it off, it has been a nightmare from the first day and Ring will blame every single issue on your internet, while the connection has the required speed and the units are positioned accordingly to operate to a minimum standard. Days later I bought through a shopping channel the Ring 2 thinking it may perform better and return my first unit, but the nightmare continues without any resolution! This is by far the most expensive useless piece of (insert your favorite descriptive word) I have ever purchased. I say, wait until Nest debuts their doorbell next year. My Nest thermostat has been a joy so far, and the tech help received from their personnel, is top notch. No more Ring for me. I really hate to think that if my safety, or even my life ever depended on such a usless device, I would probably be dead by now.

While it's nice to have the ability to deter thefts of packages left on the porch, after the first month there is a fee for retaining video on the Ring cloud servers. Real time, by the time the "motion detected" alert on my phone displays the video, the person is usually gone. I still need to make further adjustments to reduce the constant "false alarms" from things like a car driving by or people walking their dogs. Even though the video features are a disappointment so far, having motion detection integrated with Alexa is nice. It was easy to set up Alexa with the Ring and Hue lights so that when someone rings the bell, the inside and porch lights turn on. When I get some time, I believe I will be able to program it so that when motion is detected, it turns the porch light on low for a short time. I would recommend the product for it's Alexa integration.

Nice idea to have at your door, but this does not catch a lot of important times. It’s supposed to be motion sensor, but 5/10 times if a delivery comes by without actually ringing, a video won’t get captured.
