I bought this for my parents home back during the Holiday season of 2017. My father is out of town a lot, leaving my mother home alone. With the passing of our canine friend, my father did not feel comfortable knowing my mother was home alone without someone to keep her safe. Seeing that this was on sale during the holidays, I picked it up. I was skeptical that my parents would like this -- it could go either way. Thankfully, my parents were super excited about this doorbell. Not only does it have the added security, but my parents get alerts on their cell phone/iPad rather than listen for the doorbell whether they are home or away from the house. I only have two cons I can think of. Con one - You get a 30 day trial of utilizing the camera footage. After 30 days, you must purchase a membership with Ring to access any camera footage (whether it's motion detection or the doorbell). It is not too pricey, but was an expense I wasn't aware of. On the bright side, purchasing this membership gives you a warranty from Ring that if your doorbell ever breaks or is stolen, they will replace the unit for you. Con two - My parents' house faces out to a street that has some traffic of neighbors going past, and the motion detector picks up on these cars passing. Yes, this means that they receive an alert every time a car drives pass. They still keep on the motion detection to the lowest distance setting, but they don't check the motion alerts quite as often. I will say, it is a fun toy (I can watch my parents taking the dogs out) that can give you some relief when it comes to added home security.

I installed this today and can relate to all of the negative reviews concerning the supplied anchors which for starters are too small, especially for stucco and brick installs. The problem is if you purchase the correct sized anchors at HD or Lowe's the pan head screws interfere with mounting the unit to the backplate since they are not low profile like the supplied screws. I had to counter sink the heads into the plastic backplate to get it to work. If I had to do over again, I would cut a piece of wood to mount this to using the supplied hardware and use the anchors I purchased to mount the wood. I am not sure if Ring improved on the mounting design for the Ring 2 or Ring Pro, but they need to and then I would give it 5 stars.

Does what it says very well. CON: can not disable camera in the app. If you hang out or work near this you will get constant alerts. Would be nice to be able to disable ring products from the app / like blink products allow you to do.

the doorbell does what it's supposed to do. it will notify you if someone pressed the button or when motion is detected. but here are some things to know that made me return the item. - whenever you make changes, you need to press the doorbell for it to be applied and saved. if you're not at home, the new settings won't be saved until you press the doorbell. - you need to create a ring.com account. in my situation, i used it for a day and decided to return it. there's no way to delete your account. i sent an email to support. they're response was that they can't delete the account. if their system detects inactivity for a period of time, then it will be deactivated/removed. with all the security breaches going on, it's likely that your information will remain in their system even after you no longer use their service. i don't like that at all. - the motion detection is either too slow or inconsistent. i've read reviews on the pro version being better. - the app is sometimes buggy. there's times i deleted the video but it remains for a few minutes then it disappears. sometimes the video is on my phone's app but online it doesn't appear. stuff like that. so the bad stuff out of the way... it is a nice device. everything you need to install is included. the installation is easy and there are videos online that can be followed easily. the software pairing is easy as well. it can potentially be a great product but still needs some improvements. i might be nitpicking but just sharing my experience with it.

I've had this about a year now and while the installation was easy, the motion recognition needs a little work. I have the motion sensing set very close to the door but I still get notifications of passing cars.

This Video Doorbell is the best on the market for sure. After I installed it I liked it so much I went and bought the second one.

The Ring doorbell met my expectations. It was easy to install and now provides me a view of my front porch so that I can see what is happening. It's also good to know someone is now at my door because my old doorbell was broken.

LOVE this item, easy to pair to mobile phone. Step by step install video. Enjoy the fact that you can set cities and get live update notifications to mobile device of activity going on in homeowners porches

I now know any time a person comes to the door. Deliveries, visitors and package thieves. It is easy to use and easy to install and best of all runs on my door bell power!!! (No charging required) I would recommend this to everyone!

This is the first iteration so there is always room for improvement. Install is super easy regardless of hard wiring or just using the provided rechargeable battery. Both should take less than 15 minz. The bronze color looks great. It work as you would expect it to. The quality of video could be better but that’s what the newer versions are for. One thing with the quality of the video is it depends on the orientation of your house as too much direct sunlight will blow out the image. I’d recommend buying it and give it a try and if you don’t like it just return it. Always worth a try.

The Ring delivered everything that was promised and more. Easy installation, setup and usage with superb video quality playback. Connected to your existing doorbell wiring, or operate the Ring off its internal rechargeable battery included. Setting up the app on my phone was a breeze. I was also able to program the Ring to announce all alerts, detected motions and the ringing of the bell through my existing Echo Dot(s). Have already recommended it other family and friends!

The doorbell is very nice. We could not wire it in because our bell is on a narrow piece of plastic going around the door, we would have to remove that and the calking so we put it on the house and got the ring chime for in the house also. What I don't like is that it does not always chime at the same time of the bell, it may be one or two minutes later and by that time someone could be in the house or have taken what may have been left out there. Basically I am happy with it and feel more safe knowing that most of the time it will capture a picture. Once in a while it will not chime at all but it will get on our phones. Even tho people have to ring the old doorbell the Ring will chime and capture the picture.

System works as described, especially when used in conjunction with the chime. Not giving it 5 stars because the motion detection system is almost too good, it gives a lot of false positives, so your phone is always ringing.

Very easy to install and use. Needed to purchase a booster for our wireless signal but that was also easy to install and connect to.

bought one for my parents and they love it, hooked right up with their existing doorbell, very simple to set up and the app is available in spanish definately worth the money, subscription is only $30 a year rhats $2.50 a money!!

It's easy to set up and install and mostly does what it promises. However, a couple of issues should be considered before purchasing. First, your wi-fi network must be strong enough to connect to the device outdoor. Ours wasn't, which meant coughing up another couple of Jacksons to buy a wi-fi range extender, which isn't the fault of the Ring. We've also had trouble with the video image quality at night - no, it's not too dark, but rather too bright. The night vision LEDs over expose faces at close range, creating a featureless white blob. If you've ever dealt with the video on a baby monitor, you'll get the idea. You can probably fix this with something opaque, but there ought to be a software solution.

Super easy to install and use. App is simple and easy. Although the video review should be included in the purchase in my opinion the annual fee is just an annoying upcharge. That's my only 'complaint'

I was hesitant at first due to mixed reviews. I purchased two so that I would have video coverage at both of my doors. While it works very well off the battery I will be installing a transformer so I don't have to charge them.

I got this because my old doorbell wasn’t working. It was easy to hook up and is working great so far. It streams good. I had to get the range extender because it’s pretty far from my router but that seems to be working well.

Easy setup - mounted one on front door, and one at side garage door area. connected them to my original doorbell transformer wires to charge the Ring battery. Works Great ! Can monitor my home area through my Ring phone App.
