Did not work with my wifi. 2nd one purchased and neither worked.

Spent several hours trying to get ring doorbell to work. No luck

I wasn’t two hours trying to set it up. So frustrating

I was looking for a camera for my front entrance so this item sounded like what I wanted. I read the reviews, didn't sway me too much. I purchased it online, received it and I was surprised. I needed a drill which was something that I was not made aware of. Now that I think about it I really don't know what I was thinking with regards to the actual installation but a drill never entered my mind. The Ring came with a drill bit but it was warped. Luckily my friend had his own drill bit that fit my needs. We commenced to install the RIng. It was not so easy and because I did not have a door bell in place I had to install it with the battery usage. I made sure to charge it before installation. Installing the backing on the stucco wall was done, the Ring needed to be latched on to the backing and that was the most difficult part of all. It would not hook into place. Needing it to be secure onto the backing it took quite a bit of time. We needed a flathead screwdriver and jamming it in between the stucco and the back of the backing to try and lift it so that we could get the Ring to latch on finally after about 20 minutes it latched. We put the security screws in place under the device. it worked and the instructions say that the battery is suppose to run up to a year without having to be recharged and that is not true. It lasted about 2 months before I needed to remove it from the wall and recharge it. You can imagine trying to put the device back on to the backing was a chore so much so that I needed help. So, my friend came back over and together we reinstalled it back on. The camera has a delay and the recording does work but not all of the time. If there is too much going on at the same time around the camera it captures the initial encounter but nothing else after that. Like the camera can only capture one moment at a time. Back to back it does not work. The camera records with a RED tint from time to time. The speaker device does work when needing to answer. One thing I do like about it is that if I am away from home and someone comes by I can answer the Ring from wherever I am. All in All because of the installation and the removal of the device for charging is such a chore I would NOT purchase this again. But for the recording aspect it does work and does provide me what I was looking for. One thing I think should be mentioned is that you have to purchase their plan which is $30/year. Without it there is no recording being done. It does record at the moment of the activity but it does not hold it for any amount of time after. That was a complete surprise to me. Sometimes when you are in the middle of something and cannot answer it or see who is there knowing I could go back and see who it was that was all I needed to do. Well, unless you purchase their plan if you do not answer it you are completely out of luck because it is gone. I think this should be made clearer which it is not. I hope this makes sense. They should offer a Yes and No option on Recommending this to a friend not just Yes OR No.

Well, the doorbell works. I can interact with whomever is outside and it records decent video. It also now allows you to see a live stream from the camera, which evidently it didn't used to do. However, the reason why I bought it was primarily the motion detection video capture. Unfortunately, that doesn't work very well, so far. It's not very good at detecting motion, and when it does, it doesn't capture a long enough clip. I'll have to mess with it a bit more to see if there's anything I can do to make it better, but so far it's just okay.

We are really impressed with the Ring / Chime combo. Installation and hook-up to WIFI was easy, taking maybe 20 minutes total. Ring has worked flawlessly since. We use the battery option, so that we could have a better placement for the doorbell. We have used it numerous times in the past month, and have even answered the doorbell while at work and on vacation. For the first time ever, we purchased the cloud video recording service, and it greatly extended the usefulness of the Ring. Finally, a device that lived up to our expectations. Their customer service is efficient and helpful, with prompt replies. The Ring, Chime and customer service are a really good product, and we are really pleased with our Ring.

Very easy to install and even easier to setup. All the tools you need come in the package and the instruction are well written. I was even able to hook the unit up to my existing wiring. This allowed the unit to be AC powered and use my current doorbell chime. The cloud recording feature is also nice add-on but will cost you $30.00 a year. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to know what happens when they are away. The only reason I did not give 5 stars - You can not activate the camera on the unit manually. It will only send you an alert if it detects motion (once setup) and when someone rings the doorbell manually.

Great concept but it wouldn't connect to my phone.

Very disappointed in the ring,had to many problems

My wife and I have been researching home security camera systems for a long long time. We've never been able to commit to any due to the many challenges that each product presents. High prices, complicated installation, and limited capabilities are just a few of the negatives that have pushed us to keep looking. Then Ring came along. What a very different yet simple product. No holes to drill for cables..... no worries about where to store a centralized DVR to store security footage .... everything you need is in a compact easy to install security powerhouse. It's amazing !

First, let me preface this statement by saying that I'm a custom integrator by trade. So, none of what I'm going to say is due to user error. I purchased this unit for a client who didn't have a doorbell in a house they just moved into. This unit is a piece of junk, and that's coming from someone who sees a lot of junk that's being manufactured these days... Here are the problems I experienced, which I've since verified as real issues by reading other reviews. 1. It's slow and sluggish. I have excellent WIFI throughout the clients home, so the WIFI isn't the issue. It's the unit. When it does respond to a button push, it's slow.. 2. Sometimes the button simply doesn't work. You stand outside and press the button, but it simply doesn't work..However, the lay person would have no way of knowing that the unit isn't responding because they don't know that the blue light is supposed to light up when the button is pushed. So now you've got some poor sap standing at your door, and you have no idea he's there, and he has no idea that you can't hear him. Problem with doorbells, they have to work 100% of the time to be effective. 3. The unit has 2 small hex screws that are used as security screws. (think eyeglass screws) the kit comes with a screwdriver to install them..That's fine on paper, I can't wait until thousands of homeowners across America lose that little screwdriver. They're literally screwed. (I couldn't help myself), because you won't find it's replacement at HomeDepot. 4. It falls of the network constantly. (For me, 4 times in 2 days) So much so, that I'm driving out to the clients house to remove and replace. The initial installation of this unit took me about 10 minutes. The troubleshooting has cost me 2 hours, plus an additional service call to replace it. Not in a million years would I ever recommend this to another client. Take it from a person who does this for a living (and who NEVER writes reviews) stay away from this thing..It might work for you initially, but the quality is simply not going to last. Look for alternatives.
