Fair for the money I paid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works, but at night it's hard to see who it is. I had to set the range at full to pick me up unless I was right in front of it. What I don't like the most is if I want to get a recording after the trial I have to pay $3.00 a month. If I would of know that I would of bought something else. There is no reason for that other than greed......

Poor Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When watching the installation video one of the first steps after removing the current doorbell, was to use the included caulking compound to plug the hole where the wires protruded. There was no included caulking compound in my packaging! When I called customer service, they put me on hold to find out why, and then came back with we no longer include that in our new packaging. When I asked why their instructions for installation, which is a YouTube video link from within their app, included those instructions, the customer service representative become noticeably hostile, and re-stated that the caulking compound was no longer included in the new packaging. A rather small issue mind you, but the attitude of customer service, convinced me that for a $200.00 device, it was not worth the trouble. I cannot attest to the functionality of the device, except to say that the iOS app has an error loop should you choose to enter your address manually as my automatically located address was incorrect.

Works Good When It Works Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd Ring in about 2 years. The first one never worked and I returned it. The 2nd worked for about 6 months and suddenly quit. I recommend the extended warrantee on this item and I purchased one for all 3 units. Once installed the Ring does what it advertises but it took me several tries to get all 3 up and going. In my opinion Ring has a long way to go to have a great 5 star product but the peace of mind makes it worth trying as nothing on the market compares. I recommend it if you also purchase the extended warrantee.

Never works when you want it to
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first installed my Ring doorbell, it worked pretty well. Lately however, the only notifications I get are when cars drive by. Literally, as I was getting ready to write this review, a guy for UPS dropped off some packages right in front of the camera. Nothing. A few minutes later, a car drives by and I get a notification. So glad I pay for the subscription to view the history of cars that drive by but not the people that walk up and knock on my door. Any time I try to answer a doorbell, I get the loading wheel and it never connects. I give it 2 stars because when it works, it is nice to have. But horribly inconsistent.

I really wanted to like it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Ring based on my neighbors love for theirs. Unfortunately, after drilling the holes in my brick I attempted installing two units and neither would work. We'll start with the first one... #1 - This one wouldn't connect at all. I called customer support and the guy ran all sorts of tests and said that according to all of the numbers that came back it should work. My house is 1392 sq feet - not huge - and the router is in the middle of the house, so certainly close enough to the front door. We decided maybe it was the app and I was to hang up with him, reinstall the app (I was on the phone that had the app - don't have another phone) and he would call me back in 10 minutes. He never called back. I attempted to call back and ask for him by name so I didn't have to start over with someone else. Twice I was told he was on another call and he'd call me back. He never called. Poor customer service experience. #2 - I returned that one to the store and exchanged for the exact same model. Got it home and the holes on plate that you mount to the wall did not match up to the first one - weird! I got it connected with one screw because I didn't want to drill more holes in my brick scared that it wouldn't work. I got it connected and it was working (so now I know that my wifi can support it) but the unit completely died after 10 minutes - wouldn't charge, wouldn't turn on, nothing. Returned it to Best Buy. Given that I had holes in my brick (so upset about this) I wanted to give it another shot since #2 worked for a minute (and my neighbor's works well). Third time is a charm, maybe? Unfortunately, the price had gone up significantly as I got the first and second ones on Black Friday. I wasn't up for paying the higher price at the moment so I've been on hold trying to decide what to do. P.S. I'm still irritated about the holes in my brick. I got an estimate to have them patched (I'm not handy like that) and they quoted $325 - nope. If you do buy one, I highly suggest testing it out before drilling into your house in case it doesn't work. Given my experience, I'm hesitant to recommend it to a friend. My co-worker recently bought one and has been happy with it - he also subscribed to the cloud storage service which he says is a must.

Not Ready for Prime Time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Caveat emptor. My experience with Ring parallels that of some others who complain about the problems around video capture.. The motion capture feature only captures video after the fact. That is, when the UPS person drops a package on my porch, the capture simply shows the box on my porch. It does not capture the UPS person walking up the walk, up the stairs, down the stairs and back down the walk. There seems to be a delay from when the motion occurs to when the video starts recording. In a different test, when a USPS delivery was attempted, the video camera did not turn on until the USPS person’s finger was an inch or two from the button. (Yes, the sensitivity is turned to max). Tech support seems to have no answers. Frankly, their attention on the matter was seriously lacking. It seemed to be the type of support where if things moved off their script, they became lost and ceased to respond to emails. One other annoying aspect of Ring is should you miss the Ring, you can not press a button and have it reconnect you with the door. You literally need to answer the bell while it is ringing to establish connection with the visitor. This is not always practical with a cell phone that may be in a purse or pocket. Interesting technology with promise but the implementation seems to have some bugs and their support seems woefully inadequate to do more than throw canned responses back to the customer when there is a legitimate problem.

Posted .Hi John, I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience thus far. Motion detection does require a bit of maneuvering and experimentation to find the sweet spot. Live View is actually now available for hardwired Ring Video Doorbells - I'm happy to enable this for you if you would reach me at [email protected] today. I'd also like to make sure our CS team looks into your motion detection and assist with honing your settings. I look forward to hearing from you soon, John.

Great idea, still needs work, better than pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great idea, execution still needs refinement. I purchased both a Ring Pro Doorbell (for the front porch) and a standard Ring Doorbell (for my garage). The pro says it will connect to 5ghz wifi, but I found that it was extremely difficult to get it to connect and stay connected. I have a brand new, state of the art router (it cost about $400) that is well within wifi range, and it still struggled to connect to the 5ghz band. Unfortunately, video & audio quality on the 2.4ghz band was not great and the connection on 2.4ghz while reliable for a few days at a time, would keep disconnecting randomly also. I actually tried it on 3 different routers over the course of a little over a month, and all three routers had the same connectivity & reliability issues, so I know it has to be an issue with the ring hardware or software, not the wifi routers. I am a highly technical individual with degrees and certifications as well as 15+ years in high-level technical fields, so I'm pretty sure I have a good handle on how this stuff should be setup and how it should work. While I loved the concept of the Ring, it just wasn't reliable enough for the $250 (pro) + $200 (standard). I need something that will connect, stay connected, and be consistent. It also kind of sucks to have to pay a subscription for cloud recording on EACH device. Seems like one subscription would be enough to cover at least 3 devices. The ring standard is a bit more reliable than the pro version, but still not 100%.

Posted .Hi Mousikos2, that doesn't sound right. We do recommend that your routers are no farther than 30 feet from your Ring devices for optimal performance but the closer it is, the better the performance. Thank you for sharing your feedback here - we'll look into bundle costs on cloud fees for the future. Would you kindly reach me at [email protected] today so that we can take a closer look at your device/account and ensure a stable connection to your network?

Theoretically great, practically worthless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love the idea of a product like this existing. Unfortunately, the product doesn't live up to the hype (or the hefty price tag). I have had to take mine off the wall several times a week since I bought it to reconnect it to my wifi. Then it will work for a few more days, and then lose connection again. If you are one of those people who wants to know when EVERYONE who comes to your door, and not just the ones who show up while the thing is functioning, then this may not be the product for you.

Great if you don't live in cold weather
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the ring video in early December for my Mom. Installed without issues and worked pretty well as advertised until I started getting low battery warnings. The system is hardwired to the current doorbell with 16VAC but system draining battery. turned all motion sensing off and manually recharged it but still loosing charge. Service help line shared that with below freezing temps( Kentucky) system drains and suggested i bring it in when its cold and recharge it...Great when your mother lives 200 miles away. Not practically!! Maybe should be advertised as a spring and summer device.

Posted .Hi Retiredman,
I'm sorry to hear about the battery concern you are experiencing. At temperatures below 40°F, lithium polymer batteries are less effective at holding a charge. Ring Doorbell and Ring Stick Up Cam use lithium polymer batteries, so when the temperature drops below 40°F, it may be necessary to charge your Ring product more often. I would be more than happy to go over this as well as any other concerns you may have. Would you please email me at [email protected] at your earliest convenience? I look forward to hearing from you and turning your Ring experience around!

Love My Ring Doorbell!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this doorbell about 2 years ago for the battery option and I'm so glad I did. It works perfect and I love that I can customize everything. Ring customer service is absolutely amazing and I love that they do so much for the community as well. You won't be disappointed!

Motion Detection Delay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased. Hook up was easy! The area where motion should be detected is defective. I walked up to camera from street and moved side to side and no response and after 60 secs (too long) the red lights came on! Blink Cameras are more efficient and respond to motion quicker. Looks like I will be returning immediately for refund!

Nice Doorbell
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as addition to my home security. It is a great product if you meet what it needs to work but if not it can be a headache. If you have Arlo security cameras this probably will not work because of 2.4g interference that the Arlo will cause. I ended up returning for the pro version. The pro version works great just had to program it to work on 5g. I would recommend this to a friend with the proper requirements it needs to work.

No live view, unless wired. That sucks.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 1 ring video doorbell and I wired it and the live view( video on demand) worked great. Sadly, cam was on the side and I could not see well who was at the door so I changed it to the front, without a wire and was great and interestingly the live view continue to work great just on battery only. It actually did not use much battery actually and did not need the wire as they said. So I called ring and they told me that within 30 days all cams will be working with live view on battery, like mine was working, so I bought another cam. Guess what? They removed my live view from the camera that was working just fine and it has been 6 months since then and no live view on battery yet. Since I do not need the ring anymore, I bought an Arlo system with 2 cameras for the backyard and it is cheaper, works great, on battery and with live view (video on demand)
