Email and Biling Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a ring doorbell. It works and I have been happy with its performance other than the delayed video feed when traveling. I needed to change my email. You cant just change your email on your account online. When you call or chat, in my case a 15 minute wait, you are notified that you have to delete your account, create a new one with the new email, reset your doorbell by taking it off your door, set it up again, and then reinstall it. I was just billed for a new year on 1/12/2018 with no prior or after notification of any kind. Just showed up on the credit card. This email change request took place on 1/14/2018. The lady I was working with deleted the old account, and stated that I would receive $27 back. (For two days usage!) Small change, right? She stated that the system billed me for a full month, even though a full month would have been 1/12 of $30 or $2.50, not $3, though both represent a systemic overcharge. I told her that wasn't acceptable, and she adjusted the entire amount off. This is the first requirement to delete and begin a new account in over 50 email changes to other accounts. Finally, in order to maintain an account (which allows you to keep the video and have live view), it is necessary to leave your credit card information on file with them. With an antiquated system that can't handle a simple email change, and their demonstrated inability to communicate a new charge, it certainly makes one uneasy about the security surrounding credit card information in their systems. The whole process began around 1pm and I am completing this review at 4pm. Three hours to change an email!. The lady who helped was nice, helpful, and did her job well. This issue is management accepting a sub-par system that penalizes the customer.

Functions Well and Looks Classy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Functions very well and the design is very classy. I use it all the time to see who is at my door. There even is an app that notifies you to your phone when there is motion at the door.

Maybe It was my Phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never got this to work. The unit wouldn't signal the phone (Samsung S4) to let me know someone was at the door. Spent several hours setting it up and on the phone with Ring support. Ring cheerfully refunded my money.

Subscription Required For Full Functionality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The doorbell was relatively easy to install and works great... at least for the first 30 days while you get the trial subscription. Once you decline to pay a monthly subscription fee, even with all diagnostics showing it running perfectly: strong wifi connection, good internet speed, full power (hardwired); the live video functions won't work. I'm not referring to it storing video for you to review later of who/what caused the motion sensor to trigger, I'm talking about the ability to see live video as someone is there, or just to turn it on to check. It simply says it has to activate the device, but that it can't. I can literally stand on my porch in front of it, it will trigger an alert to my iphone/iwatch, then it won't let me call the Ring doorbell or activate the camera to see myself. I'm sure this would all be rectified with a subscription, but the features I'm talking about are included features of the device with NO SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED. Avoid this device/company if you expect to receive the service the device offers without them trying to leech money from you on a monthly basis with an unnecessary subscription. I would NEVER recommend this device/company to a friend. You shouldn't either.

Ring has changed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring was great. They now send you a message saying they detect motion and charge you to view it. I understand that subscriptions are where it's at but people are just going to find doorbells that aren't $200 and put a cheap camera outside.

I ❤️Love my Ring Doorbell!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Busted!! A man snuck thru the bushes avoiding my walkway. The Ring has such a large motion zone, it went off with flashing lights. The man did a U-Turn back into the bushes!!

Ring has extreamly poor customer support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a Ring device. It worked initially for about one month. We brought it back to Best Buy and they indicated we must go through Ring to get it repaired. We went back and forth with Ring for over a week and we simply cannot get to any person that has ANY idea how their product should actually work or get a replacement. DO NOT BUY. We have absolutly no recourse other than to throw it away. Bottom line, if it does not work, you just wasted a lot of money.

It's fine... when it works.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this model for a number of months now, and while it's handy, I will also say it's "buggy", too. The WiFi antennae in it seems to be on the weak side - you have to be pretty close to your router in order for it to work well - but even with my router no more than 25 feet away and a good signal, I have still had 3 instances where the Ring has messed up and I've had to remove it from the door, reboot it manually, and re-install it in order to get it working. And that's the problem - you can't reset/reboot it from the app! You have to remove it from your door to do that (not so great if you're traveling). The makers are offering "free" WiFi boosters and pretty much admitted to me these may be needed after a firmware update (which I guess they're saying has weakened it's signal). Anyway - when it works, it's handy and lets you see who's at the door and speak to them. But then when it decides to not work, you're left in the cold until you can remove it and reset it. For this reason I don't recommend it until the bugs are worked out.

Ok but needs to charge weekly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the idea of a video but doorbell but after having it for a while the hardest part of owning it is the poor battery life. I can’t hardwire it and have it set to only alert me when it rings and also the closest distance allowed, even after all that I get a t best 2 weeks of battery. Dealt with customer service and they just blame the battery.

Unreliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've installed two of these over the past couple years. Each started strong and then stopped functioning in one way or another. First one stopped connecting to my wifi after many months of using it. I can't explain why. Ring actually gave me a Wifi Chime but unfortunately I dropped the Ring doorbell while reprogramming it and it stopped working altogether. I purchased a replacement. I installed the new one and it worked perfectly...for a few weeks. I get a pop-up message from the app that my Ring doorbell battery is running low...even though it's hardwired. I just spent a few hours rewiring it, flipping the diode back and forth, but it won't activate my hardwire doorbell, and it won't recognize the doorbell power. The hardwire doorbell still works fine if I cross the wires, so the problem has to be with the Ring. I've spent too many hours trying to debug this thing. I'm back to my old fashioned doorbell which is by far more reliable than Ring. Excellent idea, but unfortunately the product just isn't there yet.

Poor design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I had done my homework, but apparently not enough, I live in an old house without a doorbell. I had no idea that recharging the battery would require taking it off from the base, taking it inside, and allowing it to charge for 10 hours. The port for charging is on the back of the device. Why not use solar tech to insure regular recharging or constant use? Removing this item from my front door on a regular basis renders it completely useless and therefore it was promptly returned. Disappointed,
