A doorbell and a camera all in one. Reasonably priced. If I were to purchase again, it would be one that is connected straight to the electricity instead of a rechargeable unit.

The motion detector is constantly going off for cars in the street or even squirrels in the yard. Battery lasted less than a month. Can't wire it due to an existing intercom system.

      Hi BoTy,

Oh no, this doesn't sound right. Setting up the motion detector does require a bit of maneuvering to find the sweet spot, however, we can assist you with honing these settings to make sure you receive the alerts that matter to you. Additionally, Battery life is contingent on usage so the volume of alerts you receive per day will affect it but we can provide optimal settings to conserve your battery. Would you reach me today at [email protected] so that I can work to improve your Ring experience?

      I would appreciate your time.

Let me say that I first tried the Ring Pro version and it was a disaster, because I didn't have enough voltage out of my doorbell transformer, but only found out after the fact and encountered so many issues getting it resolved. However, liking the concept, I read that this unit can be hardwired with any doorbell transformer, or not, you can just use the internal battery of this unit. So, I figured I'd give it a try. And I'm glad I did. The install took literally only about 10 minutes, everything needed was included, it was well thought out and went off without any issues at all. I decided to hardwire mine, which is simply two wires from the existing doorbell, and it keeps the units battery trickle charged so it is at 100% all the time. Note, heavy doorbell activity, or alot of live views will use up the battery, making it longer for the battery to get back to 100%. But I may do a live view maybe 2-3 times a day, and rarely does anyone ring my doorbell. I don't use the motion detection recording feature of this unit, I have cameras that do that already. But you can set it up that if someone comes close to the area it will set off an alert and record the activity. There are motion adjustments and such, but since my front door is my door to come and go, it just would not work for me - and do note, there is a time setting that it can only notify you after hours for example, midnight to 6am or something. Or maybe when you aren't home, you might have it set to notify you if motion occurs. Or maybe you just have it record and not notify you. The one downside to this is that the wifi radio inside of it, needs to get a really strong wifi signal. In my case this meant putting a wifi repeater in my powder room, which is very near to the doorbell. It makes sense, the unit is mounted to wood and the signal has to go through solid wood and brick to pickup the wifi signal. Just be prepared for this. The only other downside is that it can take upwards of 10 seconds for the unit to "wake up" and show you the live view when you first activate it. When you want a quick peek of what is going on out front, that can seem like 10 minutes. But is only about 10 seconds, sometimes a bit less. Anyway, the images it generates are okay for viewing, to see who might be there, and the recorded images stored in the cloud and played back look decent. It costs me $3/month to store the images in the cloud for a 6 month history of recorded video. I don't like paying monthly fees for such things, but considering how much room it may take up for videos, it seems worth it. And you can download any of those clips very easily. If you don't subscribe after the 30 day free trial, you will have live views and connectivity with whomever is at your front door, but you will not have any recordings. Oh yes, it will record your interaction with someone at the front door after someone presses the button, or if you are interacting with someone based on a live view event. I'm glad I got this and am glad this was so easy to install. I've heard of so many times people answer the door, social engineering and all, yet they end up in a situation they didn't want to be in....don't take the risk when you can answer the door safely from inside without putting yourself in harms way by opening the door.....also, if you aren't home, you can answer the door and tell someone to go away or that you aren't interested. They won't know you are away from home.

Camera was easy to install and setup. Only issue is sensitive is a bit off. Records when no one is near the camera and doesn't capture motion when someone is near the door all the time.

i have had ring doorbells since they first came out and i don't think i can live with out them now. there great and reliable as long as you install them properly. the trick is they have to be close to your router very close. if you have a good internet connection and a good router there just as reliable as a regular doorbell. i have three ring doorbells one at my home one at my summer home and one at my business. they all have almost instantaneous video and sound and see very well in the dark. and i haven't lost a package since i installed them. i can also keep a eye on my grand kids when there in the yard. i think there the best invention ever

Fairly easy to install. The doorbell function works well but the motion detector function is glitchy and hard to set. Overall, I'd recommend but only for the doorbell/camera/intercom function.

I love how easy it was to install. Makes me feel very secure as a single woman living alone. I like have a heads up when someone is at my door. There are a few issues I had to Google to find fixes for. I hardwired it into my existing doorbell and it wasn't ringing my mechanical doorbell until I linked it to my echo and changed the sound setting in the app. Weird. I wish the camera was a little bit better quality but that's why they have the newer models which are a hundred bucks more. I've have several cameras out front so if someone tries something stupid, I'll catch them from one device or another.

I bought this for a little more security and to know who is at my door without opening. We have a lot of packages come so it is nice to keep an eye on them before we come home. I also like that it works with Alexa and that she can tell me if there is motion or if someone rang the doorbell. I change up the ring every now and then so my dogs dont know that someone is at the front door. Was very easy to set up. I have it for almost a year and have only needed to charge it once. I use the battery a lot too by watching live video waiting on someone to arrive. Great product and will definitely recommend.

    Found my cat

We got this to see if my missing cat was coming around at night after he was gone 10 days. First night- there he was! Also used it to help us catch him to get him back inside. And watched a raccoon, possum, and birds. Now that we are using it just as a mounted doorbell, the settings have never adjusted well to facing a well trafficked street and it will show motion but kicks in slow enough to not show what the car was. It did great for porch motion when set at ground level. Two way audio works well. App works well. It fell in a puddle and came back to life after drying out. So pretty darn good!

this item installed easily but programming was confusing. When that was done I like it a lot. hopefully the batter will stay charged so that does not need to be done too frequently.

My doorbell quit working, so I was thrilled to get the Ring that can be installed without hardwiring it. I love the fact that I can answer my door even when I am not home! And I can see who is outside of my house. The only problem I had was having to recharge it, and it was difficult unscrewing it from the base each time to recharge it. Actually, I dropped it on the pavement while doing so. It still works, but the lens got scratched, the Ring only stays charged for about 3 weeks, and the speaker is muffled. I loved it before I dropped it, so I am considering buying a new Ring, because all the reviews are 4 star ratings. I just wished it was less than $200 !
