This causes the daytime video to look all washed out and over-exposed. The doorbell will work properly for about 36 hours, then night mode is stuck. I have called and written to Ring about this problem. They say that if my porch is covered and dark, that this is normal. My porch is covered, but the doorbell points out into my front walk which is very bright. The doorbell does work properly for a day or two after I perform a hard reset, so I don't think staying in night mode is normal in my application. I have asked if the programmers could adjust the sensitivity of the doorbell camera for a new firmware update, but crickets so far. This could be an easy fix if Ring would create software that allowed adjustment or even to turn off night mode.

I am sorry for your poor experience. There are several reasons why a Ring Doorbell can be stuck in night vision during the day. One of the most common is that the Ring is under an overhanging porch or a particularly shady area during the day. If the light levels get low enough, it can automatically switch to night vision.
