I really like this device. Set up was easy. The actual chimee is a little delayed (1 second or so) when someone presses the button. Also trying to look at the video when you get an alert is delayed. But overall satisfied with the product. I really like the fact it keeps a history of all events.

Ring DoorBell Pro Customer Support is Fantastic

I had read customer reviews on this product before purchasing. I knew that I would need to upgrade my internet speed. I did that and self-installed the Ring DoorBell Pro. I liked it well enough that a month later I purchased the Stick up Cam with Solar Panel. The device worked well, although it was extremely hot to touch. I also had a hard time getting it to work with my existing doorbell . Throughout 4 months I might of called Ring Customer Support 4 or 5 times. My customer support experience with the company was excellent. Always polite and tried to be as helpful as they could. Three months after purchase the DoorBell Pro quit working. The Stickup Cam worked great. I stewed for another 4 months on what to do as I had spent quite a bit of money with the company. I had originally came to this review section to re-read other's experiences with this device. I noticed that Ring was reaching out to those with bad experiences and urging those people to email Ring customer support. I thought what the heck? What do I have to lose? I sent off the email, got a prompt reply and the ball was immediately rolling. Within a weeks time a new Ring DoorBell Pro was installed and is working great. As stated in other reviews. You do need a fast internet connection, if you lose internet or electricity - you will need to set up the device again. Now that Ring Customer Support came to the rescue I am extremely happy with the DoorBell Pro.

I bought the last model and loved it. My husband wanted the new one because of the 1080p, so we upgraded after the software fix. We are having all the problems that they said the update would fix. 4-5 seconds delay on the ring. Complete whiteout of the person at the door on the video at night. Although great street video at night. And you have to shut off alerts at night. Even though we have it on the shortest range, every car sets it off, all night long. But it works great during the day. The video is wonderful if it never got dark. Unfortunately I do t live in Alaska. I called the company. They said I have current update. They want me to take screenshots and video and email. Not worth the hassle. They are not paying me, I am paying them. I will return this and go back to my old one for now. Wait till next year when they have worked the bugs out.

Hi Susanzmoon, thank you for purchasing a Ring Pro! Ring Pro was placed in retail stores at an earlier date than requested, however, we're in the process of completing a rollout for a firmware update. This firmware update will alleviate many of the issues you have mentioned, and you'll enjoy your Ring Pro experience much more once that firmware is loaded to your device. Firmware updates happen over the air, so you won't have to do anything to receive it; your device will search for any new available firmware daily. The updated firmware version is 1.0.29. I apologize about your initial experience but would like to get in touch with you to address any other inquiries you may have, and assist you further. Please reach me at yul@ring.com today. Ring

    Great potential, poor implementation

I purchased this device with great enthusiasm for my parent whom I wanted to provide extra security. Like many folks around the country, they aren’t all that technical so I setup the device both physically and via a new router-setup I built for them specifically to integrate IoT devices. The installation is very simple, and when the device is working it does as advertised. However, in the 3 – 4 days that we’ve owned the device it’s “gone black” i.e. disconnected from my network 3 times, causing me to lose access to the camera or get doorbell notifications. The first time it went black, it only did so for 2 – 3 hours. However, the 2nd and 3rd time it went black and stayed that way for an entire day in one case, and indefinitely thus far, on the most recent one. The last two times I’ve called their techs, and the only solution I’ve gotten was to physically unscrew the device and press the hard-wired restart button. According to the tech, the device is designed to automatically reconnect to your network, but I found that this is not the case, and there is no way to reconnect the device via software which is a huge design flaw. Basically, if you’re out, on vacation, etc., and for whatever reason, your internet blips out (which is common in most of the country) for a few minutes, causing your modem/router to restart, the ring doorbell pro cannot consistently reconnect to your network, and thus you’ll be without sight until you can physically restart the device. Other IoT devices like the Wink/Hue/SmartThings do robustly reconnect to your network if there is a small outage/blip/etc. automatically. I can attest to that, and obviously mobile phones/tablets/laptops are the same way. So this should not be an amazing feature to implement. And since the common use-case for this device probably involves things like being able to see your home when you’re on vacation/at work/checking up on elderly relatives etc., I cannot recommend it to the average consumer as it clearly is not robust with respect to connectivity. For a tinkerer, techie, this may be a good apparatus to install in your home if you’re willing to forgive it’s faults and continually unscrew/screw in the device if/when it goes dark. However, purchasing this from Best Buy, I expected the technology to be ‘ready-for-prime-time’ which it is not. I suppose if you live in an area where the internet NEVER goes down or goes down say once a year (and your Router/Modem also never inexplicably restarts as they tend to do once a while), this won’t be too much of an issue, but that’s a fairly candy-land scenario for 90%+ of Americans I suspect. The tech honestly suggested I return the device, which I plan to do. It’s a great concept, but concepts don’t win markets, implementation does, and there definitely are many bugs to work out on this device.

This item performed just like it is promoted. Very good picture. A bit sensitive on the motion detector though. My phone kept buzzing when it was windy. There was a short lag on the phone to show the image at the door.

Installed my Ring Doorbell Pro a few months ago and cant rave enough about this product enough. It took less then half an hour to install and configure. The configuration with the IOS app took 5 minutes. The quality of the video is great and once I adjusted the zones so I wont get so many motion alerts product worked Great!!

Just installed this device and the instructions made it super easy. Everything works as it's supposed to, great video quality and I don't have to worry about battery life. The reason why I took down the one star because the motion sensor is very sensitive and I can't adjust it to how I want it.

I own the Pro and I really like the way it works. If I am not home, I am able to see when packages are delivered. I have even responded to the deliverers a few times from the doorbell. We had Chinese delivered the other night and I we were able to talk to her before she even rang the doorbell. I recommend this product.

    Love this high tech doorbell

The installation of the Ring Pro was fairly simple. The hardest part for me was actually figuring out which switch on my breaker controlled the doorbell power. I love being able to monitor package delivery, my kids going in and out, and talking to solicitors from my phone. Like many other people, I did encounter the poor power/voltage issue. It started well above 4000 mv and then gradually decrease to the point where my mechanical chime would no longer work. I then decided to get the Ring Chime. This helped the power to get back up over 4000 mv, but it then steadily decreased again. I called Ring support and found that I should have selected "none" for my doorbell setting instead of digital. Once that was done, the power has shot back up over 4000 mv and it appears to hold steady in this range over the past 24 hours. I am not out of the woods yet, but I have a feeling I have finally fixed this issue. My advice is to get the Ring chime and bypass your mechanical chime; it's only $30.

This video doorbell is easy to setup and works great. The camera is a fisheye lens, which gives a wider view and is best for the purpose it has. The sensor is adjustable which is perfect for deciding at what point you want to be alerted if someone is at your house. Highly recommend this product for anyone.

This is a great product, ignore all the negative reviews, the unit was being sold before it was supposed to, there were bugs but the AP and firmware were all updated to correct all the bugs in the unit, the live view and motion settings are great, unit was very easy to install, step by step instructions on the AP.

Great product but still room for improvement

I had my eye on the previous generation of the Ring video doorbell but the two main reasons I didn't splurge on it was because of it's width and inability to view live video. You see, I have a wooden trim about 2" wide on the outside of my front door and then decorative stone. I really didn't want to drill into the stone. Plus, no live video? Those were deal breakers for me. Now along comes Ring Pro, which addressed both of my issues above. The slimmer unit now fits nicely and wholly on my trim (no drilling into stone) and I can get a live view of the camera whenever I like. There are also additional features that are a great plus such as 1080p video, interchangeable face plates, configurable zones for motion detection, and probably some more that I'm forgetting. Overall, I'm very happy with the product. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well, I believe there's still room for improvement. First, all the units don't seem to be created equally. The first one I purchased was defective (the swirling blue light wouldn't stop swirling and when I disconnected and reconnected it the doorbell, it acted as if there was no power). I had to return that unit and exchange it for a 2nd one. The 2nd one worked. I noticed others who left comments experienced similar issues and took similar actions. Second, There is a noticeable delay in pushing the doorbell and hearing the actual "ding dong" (about 3-5 seconds). I'm not sure what's happening in this delay but I believe it should be rectified. Also, as a technologist myself, I believe the video streaming technology needs to be analyzed a bit more. It seems to be using a protocol that may not be widely adopted. I already noticed a couple of places where the live video feed seems to be blocked. And if it's blocked, the application should inform you. Instead, you just see the swirling circle as if it's going to connect at some point but it never does.

The new Ring Pro doorbell is a definite upgrade from the original doorbell. The camera is 1080p vs 720p, it’s got 5Ghz WiFi in addition to 2.4Ghz, the faceplates come in a couple of different colors already in the box, and it’s a good bit smaller than the original and looks great! I read the reviews but love Ring so decided to pick up the Pro. Installation required a few more steps but was overall easy to do. Pound for pound Ring is one of the best home monitoring systems you can own! By the way the recording to the cloud and my laptop is pretty much instant once the motion sensor see them enter your property it records everything it sees. You have them recorded and more then likely their vehicle and tag number also at 1080P! In most cases a professional burglar will just avoid it all together unless you have something in your house that they absolutely want! In that case their going to get it no matter how good your security system is! Note! You can also add Ring Stick Up Cam for added protection and viewing of your property.

Summary I did have an initial hiccup getting it to connect to my wi-fi network but because I had access to an iPhone I was able to surpass this hiccup. The physical set up was easy with their tutorial videos. The alerts are nice and have had no issue responding to the alert and instantly seeing who is on my doorstep. I live on a busy street and with a busy sidewalk and the ability to define a specific region to monitor motion Pros: Ability to give other family members access to the video. Turn off specific Alerts: Ring and Motion. Motion Zones Fish Eye camera for wide angles Cons I wish the provided power pack had just a bit more wire. Currently, no ability to directly store video locally. (must download every video and move to local storage, such as a NAS). Minor gripe - when filter different alerts, the UI should scroll back to the top - It currently keeps you at your previous filter's location.

Install was easy. Video quality is great. Notifications are quick and the ability to adjust the motion detection for my particular situation is great. I have two issues that have caused me to give a less that excellent rating. First, the audible and video was sporadic and stopped all together when the doorbell was pushed. Highest issue for me is that the "Always Home" is not always. Because of a power flicker, the Ring lost wifi connection. It is supposed to reconnect automatically. However, I had to remove the cover and push a button to get it to recover. I bought this for when I'm traveling. How can I push the button when I'm 1000 miles from home?

I had the previous version of the ring door bell and was very disappointed with it, the motion sensor was triggered by any car passing on the street, when someone walked towards the front door, say a delivery person, it would only start recording when the person was already leaving, picking up only their back. I ended up returning that old model and decided to give Ring Pro a try, what a difference, much improved, from the motion settings and triggers to the time it takes to start recording. Now I can say that I like it. It is still not perfect, for instance at night when my front porch light turns on or off, it triggers the motion alert, but that's pretty much the only ranting I have with it right now and this is something I can live with. I had to contact their customer support and they were very good handling my questions. Overall, I'm happy and I recommend it.

    Great Product (Once working)

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I originally purchased the Ring Video Doorbell and before opening the box I decided I wanted the newer features available on the Ring Video Doorbell Pro. So I exchanged the product for the new version. I was prompted to purchase because I built a new house and had a shortage in my wired doorbell and decided I should install this cool device rather than keeping my standard doorbell. Everything is packaged great. Ring pretty much gives you everything you need.and even things you may not need. The product feels like it is made of high quality materials and feels like it will be very durable. Physical installation of the actual device is pretty straight forward. If you have an existing wired doorbell, it is pretty much plug and play. You may need to make new screw holes or drill holes depending on your existing setup. While the power pack installation seemed pretty easy and straight forward, I believe this is where trial and error comes into play depending on the type of power supply you have, etc. Mine did not work (chime didn't ring) with the supplied power pack so my device is connected directly to my existing doorbell's terminal. I haven't had any issues, even at night (night vision). The setup of the wireless network can be pretty tricky. When I originally setup my doorbell, the wireless connection was not strong or fast enough to give me a good video stream so I decided to go out and buy a wifi extender since my router was in my basement where my office is located. Once setting this up, everything worked perfect. Ultimately, this will never work perfectly out of the box unless the user's setup is completely optimal. It just takes a little troubleshooting to get everything right and working. It takes patience and research to see what others have experienced. Once setup, the device works great! Oh and you may want to turn off notifications. An insect can set of the motion detectors depending on how you have your zones set up. However, I have noticed that after a few days, the sensors don't seem as sensitive and aren't set off by motion as easy. It is nice to be able to see live view and watch previously recorded footage. I do recommend this product for those who don't mind troubleshooting. I didn't contact Ring support because there was enough info online but I have read that their support is really good. Great product, underwhelming guidance. Good luck!

Installation took a few minutes of thoughtful review, after which, it was very easy and straightforward. Just have to follow the steps. They were exactly correct for my home. Love that the subscription service is actually affordable! My ONLY complaint is that it doesn't work with Google home hub. That was a big personal requirement and I was told it would work with Google home hub but after installation, tried to link it only to find that it isn't supported. Was very frustrated but it works so well with the Ring app that I'll be waiting a couple weeks to see if it's really that big of a deal and decide then. Honestly, I think I may just keep it because I like it that much. Ring, if you are reading this, Google Home Hub support would be amazing!
