Not ready for prime time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve put off writing this review to see if the issues I’ve had with the Ring Doorbell Pro would get resolved over time. Unfortunately, they have not. I’ve also hesitated because it is really a nice little unit with a small footprint compared to other video doorbells. A nice unit when it’s working! Since installation about a month ago, I’ve had recurring issues with the doorbell not sending alerts and/or live view not functioning. This happens at least a few times a week. I’d estimate the doorbell isn’t functioning about 15% of the time. I’ve called, e-mailed and had live chat with tech support more times than I can count. They’ve had me reset it, go through setup again, just wait for a firmware update, do modem speed tests, etc. It’s almost impossible to get a straight answer on what the problem is. They frequently point to my modem as the potential issue, but I don’t have any issues with any of my other wifi connected devices. The fact that numerous others here have had similar problems tells me it’s probably not my wifi network. As a security device, it’s really inexcusable for it to go down as much as it does. It went dark while I was away for a weekend recently! Just the use case it’s designed for! It pains me to say it, but this device just isn’t ready for prime time. Wait until they get the bugs out (which is hopefully soon).

It works!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was fairly easy to install. The video is clear, but the sensor had to be turned all the way down, otherwise, it goes off constantly. My husband has a samsung phone, and we never could get the ring notifications to work. Only notifys with a vibrate, no sound.

Not reliable, and I don't recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an extensive home automation environment, and all that was left to do was to add my doorbell. I bought the Ring Doorbell Pro after reading many, many, reviews; and thought to myself that I should be able to handle this. I have very fast internet , my router is only 20ft from the front door with only the exterior wall in between, I have excellent wifi coverage (including outside), and I have excellent power at the existing mechanical doorbell (19v verified with a voltmeter). Even though all those requirements were more than enough for the Ring Pro, this product just would not stay connected to my wireless network. When it would stay connected, I would NEVER get Live View to work, and I only received notifications (via the Ring app and the mechanical doorbell) of a button being pressed only a few times. The pro power kit was easy to install, and setup wasn't too bad, but no matter what I did this product was just too unreliable to be included in a home automation system, or even to be considered as part of a security system plan. I must have performed a dozen system resets to get everything to work, and even that wasn't enough. Half the time Device Health said everything was very good or good (green text indicators), and the other half of the time it said I was disconnected from my network. I need something that works all the time, and is reliable enough to be part of my HA/security environment. This product requires way too much tinkering to maintain. Also, considering firmware releases are not within the customer's control to install, Ring can push out a bad update anytime they want and cause problems for your doorbell. If you have one of these in a vacation home, or you're away from home when this happens, this can be a real inconvenience. Luckily I bought this less than 24 hours ago, and as soon as the Best Buy opens - I'll be returning this for my money back.

Poor execution! Quantity over quality.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife purchased the Ring Pro doorbell for me as a Father’s Day gift and has not worked as it should from day 1. For $250 this device is WAY over priced and doesn’t works like it should. If someone pays that much money for a doorbell you would expect top notch performance with minor flaws but instead you get top notch flaws with minor performance. Her is a list of problem that I have had with this unit that consistently keeps failing; doorbell chime wasn’t working then out the blue starts working (chime is not as strong as normal), camera stays in night vision mode (black & white) after 24 hrs, loses WiFi connectivity all the time with great signal strength at the location of the doorbell, live feed sometimes shows a black screen like others have mentioned, constantly having to turn off the breaker or pull the cover off the doorbell to reset it to clear up an issue that comes right back, and while setting up it does not accept your address. The Ring Pro is nowhere near ready for production and should be ashamed this made it past testing. Now that I want to take it down for a refund I have 2 ugly holes that I must try and cover up from mounting. Do not waist your money or time on this thing. Learn from other people’s mistakes because this product should be pulled and completely reprogrammed and more testing done to eliminate all the flaws! Better off buying the Arlo Pro 2 way cameras.

Don't buy it, it does not work.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My doorbell pro did not record a thief stealing some packages from my front door --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjslfKs2uJs . I should have returned this device to BestBuy when I could, I deeply regret contacting Ring customer support and letting them make me believe that was a issue they could fix. I've contacted them multiple times in the past weeks and the problem still there, unsolved. In fact, every now and then a new issue appear. Today while I was talking to their customer support my device stopped working and they couldn't explain why. They ask you to wait, they send some freebies (they sent an useless doorbell chime pro promising it would solve the problem) then you wait and after 30 days you can't return it anymore. Don't buy it, don't wait, don't trust when they say they can fix it, they can't.

Might be worth it after a year of firmware updates
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would be much less disappointed with Ring Pro if I had been provided it at no cost as a beta tester. It isn't ready for mass release, and I strongly recommend against buying it, except for the most extreme early adopters. Motion sensing is mostly a failure. A sunrise or crawling bug will set it off. The app doesn't allow you to control the sensitivity, so I get dozens of alerts about motion when the lawn mowing crew is in the yard. I have to manually disable motion alerts and then remember to turn them back on. Motion sensing at night doesn't work, even when you stand just inches away from the doorbell. There are so many other annoyances and aggravations. I'm hopeful the company will issue a recall so I can get my money back.

Posted .Hi JoeStL, I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience with your Ring Pro. You will receive a motion alert whenever something/someone enters your custom motion zones you drew out. If your mowing crew is within one of the motion zones you enabled, you will receive motion alerts when they're working on your lawn. But you can easily disable your Motion alerts from your Ring app during their working hours. Would you kindly reach me at yul@ring.com today so that we can address this issue and improve your Ring experience please? I'd appreciate your time, Joe.

Do not buy Ring Video Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On my sixth day trying to get this product to work. 4 customer service calls, all telling me something different. Waiting for additional equipment that was supposed to be here yesterday and customer service says it won’t ship out until next week. Terrible customer service. P.S. Do you know what the voltage is on your doorbell transformer? Who does! Ready to trash the product. Have spent entirely too much time and effort. Much more than the product cost! IF I COULD GIVE IT A ZERO RATING I WOULD! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Buyers remorse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I bought this for safety, however, we bought the unit from BestBuy and it worked well for about a week then we couldn't get any video. We contacted customer support and they tried to help and had to set us up with tech support appointment the next day at 5 pm, tech support remotely looked into everything and said it should be working so they sent us a new unit. That one the video worked for about a day and then quit. Not only does the video not work but neither does the motion detected notification work either. I called customer support and was told that what I was experiencing was wrong. I had to ask for a supervisor 5 times before he would let me talk to someone. I talked to someone else who still wasn't a supervisor because they were ALLin a meeting.. Four hours later I got a call from a supervisor long story short, doorbell still broken, i have two units sitting on my desk and one can't be returned to best buy anymore. I would give it 0 stars if I could but 1 is the lowest.

Does not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, my credibility as a reviewer; Elite Plus member - which means I've been purchasing quite a number of items from Best Buy for several years now, mostly major electronics such as gaming laptops, home automation systems, PC deaktops and PS4 games. Plus, I am also a major nerd and techie. I purchased this item 8 days ago with the hopes of adding it to my home automation project. It used to work, but now it's completely dead. It worked for 8 days, and that's it. I called their tech support, and their solution is to go to a Best Buy store and replace the unit. They advised that my house may have issues with its electrical. I told them my house is a brand new construction - built in 2013. All my home automation peripherals are working without a hitch - and YES, even my WEMO peripherals work (just FYI, a lot of people complain about WEMO devices. Just see the reviews in the Best Buy website). The first thing to go was the picture. Live view would not work - the devise would not connect. Then, the recorded videos from the server which I pay $33.00 per year, could not be viewed from the app. There are sync issues. Finally, the thing just stopped working - no ringing, no lights, no notifications. I recommend passing on this one if you don't want the hassle. But if you don't mind the hassle - knock yourself out.

Posted .Hi ElitePlusMember, thank you for purchasing a Ring Pro! Ring Pro was placed in retail stores at an earlier date than requested, however, we're in the process of completing a rollout for a firmware update. This firmware update will alleviate many of the issues you have mentioned, and you'll enjoy your Ring Pro experience much more once that firmware is loaded to your device. Firmware updates happen over the air, so you won't have to do anything to receive it; your device will search for any new available firmware daily. The updated firmware version is 1.0.29. I apologize about your initial experience but would like to get in touch with you to address any other inquiries you may have, and assist you further. Please reach me at yul@ring.com today.

Slight Delay But Useful!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a delay so the real time effect is +\- 10 seconds. We changed the detection zones to just people and it still picks up cars, garbage trucks, and lightening. Very helpful for detecting deliveries. We hardwired it in under 30 minutes with full set up.

Horrible camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the ring doorbell a while back. The concept is great. However, it doesn't work as advertised. It is very inconsistent. I can walk outide and it will pick me up and then literally walk out on the porch a half hour later and stand there and it has no idea that I am 4 feet away from it. I have called and emailed to complain. All they do is make u jump thru a whole bunch of hoops. Uninstall the app, Reinstall the app, remove the doorbell from the account, add the doorbell back to the account, speed test the internet by the router, speed test the internet out by the doorbell, take the doorbell down, and test the reaction time with the doorbell by the router, and a few other tests. I even went out and bought a much better router. I'm getting 60mps on the front porch. And yet, the thing works less than half the time. It is junk and they refuse to stand behind it. I wish it worked. The concept is great. But it just doesnt.

My problem was resolved.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.About two months after the purchase, my Ring Doorbell Pro got stuck in black-and-white night mode, even in broad daylight. I finally got color back in daylight after the engineers at Ring worked diligently to tweak the algorithm. Kudos for their successful effort.

Doorbell Voltage Sensitivity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Pro unit requires 16-24 VAC from your existing doorbell system. I measured my system voltage before I bought the unit at 16.9 VAC. I purchased the unit and followed the installation instructions which included the power pack unit. After hooking everything up and applying power, the unit powered on and I was able to simply connect it to my wifi network and was able to test the system. Live view worked, remote notification also worked as advertised. Very happy. The next morning, the unit would not respond. All indications pointed to loss of power. I reset the circuit breaker, but nothing happened. I contacted Ring and was asked to ensure that I had the required voltage to the unit. Upon checking, the measured voltage was only 12.6 VAC?? I then removed both the ring and the power pack and reinstalled, the unit powered on, connected to my wifi and worked fine. After a couple of hours, the unit was unresponsive. I removed all the components and restored my original doorbell. The Ring Pro is headed back to Best Buy for a refund. Hopefully Ring will come out with a more voltage tolerant unit.

Does not deliver as promised.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.NOT resolved. I am going to return this item to Bestbuy in 24hrs. Ring Pro is too expensive to continually have issues and not deliver as promised. It will ring the mechanical doorbell but provide no video. If I try to "view," no picture is shown. Only audio works however, the audio coming to and from the device is indiscernible majority of the time. Before I updated the Ring, by following the steps outlined in the previous email, I did get video 25% of the time, but the video had extreme lag and the picture quality was not as promised. Also once activated the ring takes too long to send me a response to my phone and if the "ring" does reach my phone it takes me to the dashboard in the app and does not respond to the actual call. Just to clarify, nothing is wrong with my internet. I have an ADT security system (Which is supposed to be compatible with RING) with wireless cameras. I have WeMo light switches which are also Wireless. I have Nest thermostats and Nest protect smoke detectors all of which worked just fine with my internet. I have tried to operate this Product with my Samsung Galaxy S6 and my iPhone 6 Plus and the same problems occur on both.

Nest has better options for paid subscribers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has great video and audio. I would only say that Nest has 24/7 recording options if you are a paid subscriber. Ring only records when there is motion or somone rings the doorbell.
