Worthless

Never would show up on my wifi like it stated it would during set-up. Called support and they suggested I call an electrician. They think my home doesn't have enough power to the doorbell. House is new and product is low voltage so that is obviously not the issue.

Don't spend your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a Doorbell Pro for Christmas and was really excited until I went to set it up. I could not get it to connect to my wifi. I called the help number and they first suggested a wifi extender. They said that my wifi signal was not good enough. So I spent $100 for a extender. Then after spending another 2 hours on the phone , they decided that the Doorbell I had was defective so they sent me a replacement. After getting the replacement and putting it in place, still couldn't get it to connect to my wifi. Called the help number and spending another 2 hours on the phone, they transferred me to level 2 support. He decided very quickly that the problem was in the wiring in my house. I setup a circuit with some wire and a transformer. I found that wiring was not an issue. Never got it to connect it to wifi. Credit where credit is due. Best Buy was very happy to take it back and the most of the people at Ring support was very nice and trying to help. The guy at level 2 support was incredibly unhelpful (review rules won't let me say what I really want to say)..

Great...when it works

My second device isn't any better. I've had to reset the device three times in one week. It defeats the purpose of having a "smart" doorbell if it stops working and I have to continually reset it. For $250, this is unacceptable. I will be trying to return it.

Pro model is the worst

After spending hours on with tech support they had to send me to level 2. After a week I just decided to return it because I hadn't received a response. They claim to refund in 72hrs... 10 days later im still waiting. I had to call Ring and speak to a manager then they "fast tracked" my refund. Overall its a cool idea, but it doesn't work and their customer service is terrible. Save your money and buy something else.

Still didn't work. Next tech rep told me that it is in the process of updating software and could take 24 hours? Didn't say anything about that anywhere I could find. Been two days now. Still doesn't work. Rep then said needs to be less than 10 feet from router? What? Said I have to go buy a wi fi extender. Debating on just returning product. Needing 24 hours to update software and needing router to be within 10 feet of doorbell was not advertised to me.

Not reliable at all

Motion detection and doorbell fail to work more often than work. A little comment searching revealed this is common. Tried each step of Ring's troubleshooting to fix motion detection not working. Didn't help. Diagnostics within the app indicate my voltage and signal strength are very good. I can get it to work once or twice before it fails to respond to motion or pressing the actual doorbell button. I've stood in front of the doorbell and waved my hands. It doesn't detect a thing. Pressed the doorbell, heard the doorbell inside, but no notification to my phone. My old doorbell already does that. I've performed the side button reset maneuver on the unit - which is ridiculous, quite frankly, as you need to be home and part of the idea is to provide a service when you're not. I imagine they'll refine their product at some point. But I'd stay away for the time being. It's simply unreliable.

Chime Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed Doorbell Pro as instructed. The hardwire installation was pretty much as instructed. It seems everything was working. Then, I noticed that my existing home doorbell chime went to silence when I pressed the Doorbell Pro button. I changed the setting in Doorbell Kit Setting, and selected that Ring my in-home doorbell to be on, and saved the setting. Once I changed the view to Dashboard, the Ring my in-home doorbell changed automatically to off!! I checked the device Health Report and the power and Wifi signal were good. I called Customer Service and they informed me that this issue is something need to be resolved on their end, and they don't have any solution in the meantime!!! This is an expensive doorbell device and I don't want to wait until Ring resolve this issue. I'll return this device even if I have to uninstall all hardwire work...frustrating!!!

Poor performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this hoping it would be an improvement over my Ring Video Doorbell, due to dual band wifi. I have two Apple Airport Extreme routers with dual band wifi in my house, one was only 25 feet from the doorbell pro with two walls in between. Wifi read as "OK" with voltage at "very good". Video would rarely even load when someone would ring. I even bought the Ring Chime Pro and placed it in between the router and the doorbell and that still didn't help. I returned both items and kept the regular Ring Video Doorbell and will have to live with it's mediocre performance for now.

Absolute Garbage

While it was working volume was very low and people at the front door could barely hear us. It was not reliable at all even when being approx 10 feet from our router. On 3/23/2018 after the postman rang the bell to advise of a delivery the unit just died. Nothing...............not anything from the doorbell unit. Thinking it might be the transformer I went to The hardware store and purchased another for 15$. After installation , still nothing. Went through troubleshooting with ring support and after determining the unit had died they TRIED TO SELL ME ANOTHER!!!!!!!! I need not say more. I have over $300 invested in this crap and now I have to go get a wire doorbell. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS GARBAGE !!!!!!!!!

Unreliable

I have 100 MB upload and 5 MB download. On top of this, I have a google wifi mesh system and I have tested my speed ranging max. For some reason, I can not view Live video. The blue circle keeps spinning and nothing shows up. The door bell does ring and gives you notification but you can not view the who is outside. I had bought Ring spotlight camera as well and I looks like I will be returning all products soon. I have read some reviews who advocate super high internet speed. I do not believe you need more than 5 upload and 50 download for it to work. I will appreciate if Ring customer service will get back with me.

A Circle of Broken Trash

We returned that one. Brought home a second box today to discover that it was a returned item too. This box all of the items and plastic are open. Pieces are missing. It also does not turn on at all. It appears to have been fried. Attempted to call our local store who cannot help us. We will have to drive back to the store. Return the item and wait for a new one to be ordered which will take up to 5 business days. I am currently on the phone trying to get customer service from our local store, but I have been on hold for 14 mins 22 secs. I had asked to speak with a manager, and I am just left in the hold status. Wonderful customer service.

Overpriced and bad delay

I am only able to see a Live View or Answer a ring about 50% of the time. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing that wheel spin and eventually telling me that "We're having trouble connecting to your Doorbell Pro". When the miracle happens and I'm able to connect them my visitor has already left because it took so long for me to answer. I have a powerful supply to the camera and fantastic internet signal but when I am unable to do what this thing is designed to do then I consider it a piece of useless junk. It pains me that I bought two chimes to go with it since I live in a three story apartment but I'll box it up and give it to someone I really dislike as a gift.

I'm really sorry to hear about your poor Ring experience. I see that you noted having a fast internet connection. Do you happen to know what your upload speed is? You can check by visiting www.bandwidthplace.com on your cell phone, and running a speed test right next to where your Ring Doorbell is installed. We also recommend running a speed test right next to your router and comparing the two speeds. Sometimes, even with high internet speeds, the connection isn't as strong at the front of the house. Right fit if you're the right person
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.There's two types of units for Ring Doorbell, Hardwired and Battery. The Pro requires you to install the Pro Hardwire Kit into your Internal Door Chime inside your home. If you do not have one or are installing the doorbell for the first time, you have to use a transformer. I have a unit that plugs into the wall, to verify I called Ring's Customer Support. The person was very impatient and was having trouble understanding my situation. He kept offering to send the Power cable used if your using the transformer option, but was still impatient the entire time. Based on the poor support, I don't recommend this product unless your confident wiring up devices by yourself and have the internal door chime.

Worst customer support and product

I replaced the transformer per the support's suggestion, but it did not resolve the issue and posted this result to them, and even worse, the support has not responded anything after that. The voltage of both transformer and doorbell OK after I checked with a multitester. The product may be good, but their support is worst. I have to explained my issues again again once a support person was changed. My claim posts on their support web site were changed to "CLOSED" without my permission or any confirmation. So I have to reopen my claim post. I wanted to return the product but it has already passed 15 days after I purchased, so I am not eligible to be refunded :-(

Great idea but the hardware is junk, camera is horrible, and the system works about 20% of the time, I have great internet at the doorbell and the camera still is not fluid if I am lucky enough to get a picture at all. Customer service just has you reconnect the camera again, and again, and again until you give up! Total waste of money!

Everything is downgrade from the original

Given the significantly higher price tag and the name of "Pro" I was expecting a superior unit, but this should really be called a mini because it's a downgrade in almost every way. The field of view is more narrow, the audio had an echo, the doorbell would activate the app, but after nearly 45 minutes of troubleshooting it still would not activate my door chime. I've installed two of the original Ring Doorbells for others, and those are easier to set up, easier to install, and simply work better all around.

Live view does not work after initial setup.

After following the instructions and setting up with the ProPack, after the factory sending a Pro Cable, after the customer service representative saying it needed a WiFi Extender since my router was set upon a glass table which I bought and installed but did not solve the issue, and after the last service representative saying it was a software issue since the live view had to travel through multiple servers, I finally returned to Best Buy to credit my account.

Terrible Product

After following the instructions which said to install the doorbell first then to go inside and install items on you inside bell it said to go to front connection and transformer connection and hook up small box connection to bell. My bell had 5 wires so I called Ring Pro for help. After arguing with a rep for 30 minutes I asked to speak to a manager. I told him I cut out the frame of my storm door to make the Ring Pro fit and did not want to return it as suggested, they sent a technician out. The man did not know what he was doing and I took the bell back for a refund.

Dont BUY!

Rings Customer support is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. Chick-Fil-a has better customer service. I have been trying to trouble shoot my almost $300 Video Doorbell and 5 attempts later they keep asking me to rest my device. They offer no additional help none what so ever! you see ghost trails in the video feeds, video pauses but audio continues and now My doorbell has no Audio at all and yet they keep telling me to hit the reset button. Complete wast of money!

Returned it the Next day Could not get Two Way

Had Solid 5 Bars of Wifi Signal, but half the time it would not call me phone. When it did reach my phone, the second I went to talk from my phone to the Ring Door Bell, it locked up. And I couldn't receive Video or Audio from the Ring Door Bell. My Wifi AP sits only 15 feet away. Additionally I have a mechanical Door bell and it had a 5 second delay to ring the bell and would only hit one of the bars. So you didn't get the complete Ding-Dong. Only the Dong. Total disappointment.
