Better than nothing but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera isn't the best resolution. Somewhat blurred at night. Sometimes doesn't capture everything it should. Slow in loading video to review. I think this probably more the app than the hardware.

Posted .Hi Watergirl2o. I definitely understand wanting to get the most out of your home security. I'd recommend checking through the troubleshooting steps here https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205348254-Poor-Video-Quality-Troubleshooting for video quality concerns. If the video in the Ring app is loading slowly, ensure the wifi or cellular data connection on your phone is strong. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask them on the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/ to see what worked for other neighbors. Best wishes, Ashley from Ring.

Posted .Hello Sunny,
We understand how important it is to only receive relevant motion alerts. Please know that we are here to resolve this concern.
Adjustable motion zones is enabled in all battery-powered Ring devices, and uses passive infrared (PIR) sensors to detect motion. By enabling you to adjust the sensitivity of your existing motion sensors, you can receive only the alerts that you care about most. Adjustable motion zones work by identifying visitors based on a change in temperature, and sending a signal to your smart device when it detects one. You can control the sensors' range and sensitivity using the controls in the Ring app. It is also optimized for low-power operations to save on battery power.
Please reach out to us directly via our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ so we can find a solution to best resolve this and ensure the device is functioning as it was intended.
Thank you,
Antonio from Ring

Posted .Hi MorganW.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We value the experience you have with Ring, and want to ensure the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is meeting the standards it's intended to provide. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is designed to be a DIY home security solution that can be trusted to provide you with lasting coverage. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
1. The footage is crisp and clear.
If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
2. The footage is heavily pixelated.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
2. There are severe pauses in live video.
If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
3. There is a long delay before your video starts.
This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Test an event when it's back online to see if there's any difference.
While subscribed to one of our Ring Protect Plans, you will have access to videos of every motion and live view event. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone and have access to the live view feature.

Difficult Mounting
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product, unfortunately does not sit well if you have vinyl siding outside of your door. Purchased an adapter online specifically for a ring doorbell on vinyl siding, did not work. Really only purchase this if you plan on installing on a flat surface.

Posted .Hi PrepaidKing,
We agree that a flat surface for your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) will provide you with the most peace of mind when installing your new device. This ensures the doorbell has a good contact with your wall and operates as intended. One great feature of the Ring Doorbell (2020 Release) is that it operates solely on battery power, and can be installed anywhere you choose at around 49 inches from the ground. If you find that you need to mount your device on another wall or area of your home, you can adjust the view by adding wedge kits or corner kits to ensure proper motion detection. From our Help Center, we offer useful articles that detail how to install your Ring devices within certain environments. This article will go over the best positioning for your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release): https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040763812-Proper-Positioning-for-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.
We would love to look over your specific environment with you, to provide you with solutions that work best for your security needs. Please don't hesitate to reach out to one of our product specialists at your earliest convenience, so we may get you moving forward as soon as possible!
Kindest Regards,
Caitlin with Ring

Posted .Hi Darrick.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to read that you are enjoying your new Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.)! At Ring, we believe in keeping people close to what’s important. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. Together, we’ll make neighborhoods safer!
We recommend following these instructions when installing your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.):
For the best results, mount it around 1.2 meters above the ground.
There are two types of screws included in the product packaging:
The four wood screws are used to secure the mounting bracket to your door or wall.
The two star-shaped security screws are used to tighten the screws into the bottom of the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) faceplate to help deter theft.
You'll need to install wall anchors when installing on stucco, brick, or concrete.
Grab 4 of the wall anchors from Bag A. Using your Ring doorbell as a template, mark 4 drill holes on the wall. Use a 1/4" masonry drill bit (not included) to drill the holes, then insert the four wall anchors.
Install the mounting bracket.
Using a Philips head screwdriver, drive the mounting screws from Bag A into your wall (or into the anchors, if installed) until they are flush with the mounting bracket.
Attach your Ring doorbell to the mounting bracket.
Hook the slot on the rear of your Ring doorbell onto the tab near the top of the mounting bracket.
Then, let the doorbell pivot down to sit flush on its bracket.
Secure the doorbell.
CAUTION! If you use the wrong screws to secure the doorbell, you could damage the battery during installation, create a fire hazard, and be seriously injured.
DO NOT use any screws other than the included short security screws when securing your Ring doorbell to the bracket.
Use the star-shaped end of the included screwdriver to insert and tighten two of the security screws from Bag B into the bottom of your Ring doorbell.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
Thank you,
Amilia from Ring.
