Ring Doorbell - battery life better than expected

It recharges through a USB port just like a typical smartphone. Did have a problem connecting it to our existing doorbell system, but it chimes and notifies to your phone, so it's really not a problem. I do need to get a corner kit since it mounts next to a wall (recommended if you have the same circumstance), it will increase the field of view.

For higher traffic areas, the battery does seem to deplete more often. Personally I have opted for the solar panel add-on accessory. Would be nice if Ring were to start just producing these with built-in solar panels overall it’s a very good doorbell and it gets the job done.

There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

I connected it up to my standard doorbell wires, which was real easy. Video quality and sound work great. The motion sensing works too well and can't fully customize areas of view, but you get what you pay for. The app "Ring" does not work well for quick view when there is motion or the bell rings. However they have another app called "Rapid Ring" which is faster for viewing, but you can't adjust settings with that one. So really requires 2 apps on your device. $30 fee for a year to keep videos in cloud is not too bad.
