Overall two thumbs up. A few years ago I bought a professional Swann system with two cameras and a dvr for $500... never liked it... not user friendly at all. This Ring doorbell for $99 is light years ahead of the Swann system

Note: When installing, the factory backplate is held on by a strong magnet. Grip in the center and pull off and upward. I only wish they would start making Ring Doorbells with a 2K or 4K camera.

None of the special. screws that is required to install the camera, was missing. The hardware is supposed to include, because it uses a special screw to install that will make it very hard for a thief to remove the device. Make sure you check the box before leaving the store.

However, I had some issues getting it to charge when connected to the existing doorbell wiring. Even after consulting an electrician, we couldn’t resolve the issue. Fortunately, charging it via USB works reliably—the battery typically lasts three months or more on a single charge.

Video quality, and notifications when motion detected is excellent. However, be aware that after 30 days, monthly subscription is REQUIRED to continue receiving real-time notifications. This should be more apparent in product description and packaging.

At Ring, we believe it is imperative that our customers receive all pertinent information regarding additional benefits they have the option to subscribe to, such as the Ring Protect Plan. Having this information allows someone to make the best purchasing decision for their needs. We provide information to our customers about the optional Ring Protect Plan on our Ring website, your Ring app will also notify you during the free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in an email after a successful setup of a Ring device.
A Ring Protect Plan is required in order to replay video footage for each device on your account. Ring Protect Basic activates video recording for one device per location and is $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year, per device. There is also another option, Ring Protect Plus activates video recording for all devices at your location and is $10 per month or $100 per year. The Plus plan also includes extended warranties for all devices. The entire system we bought through ring was around $400. At a mere $100 per year for professional monitoring, this system is a steal and extremely easy to install!
