I thought I was buying the Ring Doorbell 2 ... (not Ring Doorbell 2 Gen). It wasn't labeled clear on the box what actual model this was. They told me in the store this was the Ring Doorbell 2 - which has the "quick release" battery. I bought it because I have the Ring stick-up cam that uses the same battery. That way I could interchange them and always have a full battery ready between 2 units. Well, only after it was installed was I told that this model is the Ring Doorbell 2 Gen which has a "built in" battery that needs to be removed off the door and brought inside every time it needs charging. This is a poor design, in my opinion. It's very inconvenient to have to take the entire unit off the door every time it needs to be charged. So I'm not entirely happy with this product. I called Ring and they admitted that the names are way too similar and both shouldn't be called "Ring 2" and that lots of people make this mistake. I would have taken it back and replaced it with the Ring 2 with quick release battery, but I missed the return window by just a few days.

And the dog loves that the little chime gives him something extra to bark about.

I wasnt going to buy the storage but I did and I would recommend it. I like being able to check on my home. I like that I can see who is at my door. The personalized message is cool.

After about a year the sound got very muffled and crackly. Replaced it with a used doorbell camera from Amazon. Picture quality is still decent so we use it in another location.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When i first got the ring doorbell it worked fine i had no issues .. than all of sudden it starting acting crazy and not showing any videos or alerting when theirs movement sometimes it doesn’t work all day than it will start working I’m not sure if it’s my WiFi connection or the ring itself !! It’s a good device when it’s working ..
