We understand how important it is to have your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) capture all the correct motion events and alert you to activity around your home. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed to capture motions and alert you based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to person detection and alerts. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."

Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

If you're having issues getting notifications, make sure you're connected to wifi and that your mobile device settings are set to allow notifications from Ring. Reboot your device.Turn your mobile device completely off and back on again. Make sure Do Not Disturb is off. Check the Control Center on your iOS device to turn Do Not Disturb on or off.

If you recently updated the Ring app and your push notifications are no longer working, we recommend uninstalling the Ring app, then reinstalling it.
If you are not receiving notifications after enabling Ring Alerts or Motion Alerts and confirming they’re active on your Android device, please follow these steps:

Open Settings on your Android device.

Select Apps or Applications.

Select the Ring app.

Tap Notifications.

Ensure Allow Sound and Vibration is checked (not Deliver Quietly).

Tap Notification Categories.

Toggle all devices to the ON position.

We are saddened to read that the Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) didn't fit where you needed it to on your home.

This product's dimensions are 2.4 in. x 4.98 in x 1.10 in (62 mm x 126.5 mm x 28 mm). If you're installing your Ring Video Doorbell on a house with siding or on a house where the door is atop a set of stairs, you can use a wedge kit to properly position the Ring Video Doorbell to catch visitor motion but minimize "false positive" motion alerts such as cars in the street.
