We understand how important it is to have your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) capture all the correct motion events and alert you when activity is detected. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the motion detection and physical damage issues that you mentioned in your review.

It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."

When you purchase a new or Certified Refurbished Device (which, for clarity, excludes Devices sold as “Used” & Used Devices sold as Warehouse Deals), we warrant the Device against defects in materials and workmanship under ordinary consumer use for one year from the date of original retail purchase. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device.
