    I order this for my daughter because she brought one and I told her I would buy her another one. It was easy to set up. Now all she need is the "RING" flood light.

    This is our 2nd ring doorbell and I recommend this all the time to friends and family. I did not find benefits of more expensive model, this works great for us!

      The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection.


      After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell 2020 is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below:
      Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off).
      If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.
      Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
      Wait for your internet to be restored.

    Initially purchased due to "ease of set up", bought this and an indoor stick camera. The stick camera set up was super easy. Charged this doorbell, tried setting it up and fails every time. Keeps telling me the Wi-Fi password is incorrect and despite what Ring's troubleshooting and the rest of google believe, I entered the password correctly. The second suggestion I kept seeing was "try connecting other devices to Wi-Fi", the laptop, two TVs, two phones, iPad and another ring camera all seem to connect to it just fine, so I don't know.

    Bought this doorbell 6 weeks ago. Today Geek Squad showed up and told me that my doorbell will no longer work once I replace my doorbell with the ring-- meaning no longer will I hear a chime in my house-only on my phone. He told me I needed to spend another $250 to buy a Pro2 for that. In the meantime re-charging the battery on this one when it's plugged in is not at all convenient. I had an extension cord and a US plug plugged in for 3 hours outside and it only charged up to 46%. Total hassle. Would have been helpful to know all of these things before I bought it. It was not easy like the videos suggested because this battery doesn't slide out.

    drops of network, fails to reconnect, unreliable

    garbage. falls off the internet regularly. stops working for days at a time. when you reconnect, you have to get a special tool to take it off the bracket and push a reset on the back of the device. this worked for the first few months. it will no longer reconnect to the internet. now i get a silly error message that says "Hmm. Something went wrong. Sometimes, devices just don't want to connect to the internet....." junk. do not waste your money.

      It sounds like the device is not operating as expected. With Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. Enjoy enhanced features like upgraded video quality from 720p HD to 1080p HD, near-zone motion detection in areas as close as 5 to 15 feet in front of your home, and a reimagined mounting setup that simplifies installation.

      Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is compatible with b/g/n WiFi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is having trouble connecting, the Ring app will show an error with a code that will help you with your issue.

      Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity:
      Your Ring device may be too far from your wifi router.
      Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection.
      Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic).

      To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
      Tap “Devices.”
      Select the ring device you would like to test.
      Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
      Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
      The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
      Move your WiFi router off the floor. Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router.

      Check your mobile device's signal.

      If your mobile device has one or two bars, this could be causing issues accessing your Ring device. For best results, make sure you're connected to wifi from wherever you are.

Most internet service providers range from 100–400 mbps (megabytes per second) for download speed and 10–100 mbps for uploading.     This is nice to have. Pairs easily in the app along with my other ring cameras. I will say that it went to watch my son go back across the street after he brought me the mail and it did not show him walking back. Not sure what that was about.
