Doesnt capture anything, I have deliveries come and drop off packages multiple times a day and It does not alert me or show up in any event history. We have to be within 2 feet of the camera for a few seconds for it to capture motion. I have great wifi and have gone through all the settings normal and advanced set up everything for maximum efficiency and will not work outside of a 2 foot range. My amazon delivery drivers are able to stand in front of the ring, take photos of the dropped of packages and I would have never know they were there if it were not for the amazon alerts.

      Hello SierraGaleries.

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home. Ring understands the importance of having the motion detection and battery work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell is not picking up the correct motion. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. If you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion. We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of “false positive” motion alert. Constant Connectivity Issues and Slow Video

Not sure how this has gotten such high reviews. I have constant issues with video loading and/or the doorbell connecting to WiFi. I live in a small townhome and there is no reason why there should be connectivity issues. I think they intentionally make the connectivity poor so you have to purchase the WiFi extender. I would not recommend the Ring brand and would advise looking at other competitors.

      Hi JustinS.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us.

We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal to your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation). Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is not receiving a strong wifi signal. Follow these steps to check wifi signal strength—or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)—in the Ring app:

      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices and select the Ring device you'd like to check.
      Tap the Device Health tile.
Under the Network section, look for Signal Strength.
If the RSSI value listed is green, your device has a strong signal. If it is gray, amber, or red, it may have a moderate to weak signal.
The larger the number after "RSSI," the weaker the signal.
For example, a device displaying "RSSI-36" has a stronger signal than a device showing "RSSI-64".

Visit our support center for tips on improving the signal strength to your device.

      Hello Bennie,

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team is always striving to improve our products and their performance.

The more events captured by your Ring Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD Video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the Live View to look or speak through your camera. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, adjust the motion frequency to best fit your needs, or adjust the direction of your Ring device.

Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our customers. Hello Jimmy,

Ring understands the importance of having the battery work as intended. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.

Also, we would like to note that while the Ring Video Doorbell 2020 has the option to be hardwired, its main source of power is the rechargeable battery. Your Video Doorbell (2020 release) battery is charged using a common micro-USB cable (an orange one is included in your Ring box). The micro-USB cable can be plugged into any USB power source, such as a computer. Your battery will take around five to 10 hours to fully charge, depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or into a wall outlet. Hi VijayrajkumarG.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the battery life concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed with the ability to work wirelessly or be hardwired with or without an existing doorbell.

Follow these steps to install your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) with an existing doorbell:

Disconnect power to the installation area at your circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning installation. Always use caution when handling electrical wiring. Installation by a qualified electrician may be required in your area. Refer to your local laws and building codes before performing electrical work; permits and/or professional installation may be required by law.

To begin, set it up in the Ring app before mounting it at home.
      1. Charge the built-in battery. Fully charge the built-in battery by plugging it into a USB power source using the provided orange cable. When only one of the two LEDs on the battery is lit, the battery is fully charged. Tap here for more information on charging your Ring battery.

      2. Set up your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) near your wifi router. In the Ring app, select Set Up a Device and follow the in-app instructions.

      3. Try it out. After setup, push the button on the front of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) to see video from the camera in the Ring app.

      4. Install your Ring Doorbell. For the best results, mount it around four feet (1.2 meters) above the ground. If you're connecting to existing doorbell wiring that's higher than four feet and want to angle your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) down for a better view, you can purchase a Ring Wedge Kit.

      5. Remove your existing doorbell. If connecting to existing doorbell wires, shut off the power at the breaker. If you're not sure which breaker controls your doorbell, turn off the master breaker for your home or contact an electrician. Once the power is turned off, remove the doorbell button from the wall and disconnect the wires. Your Ring Doorbell is compatible with doorbell systems supplying 8 to 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz, and 5VA to 40VA.
      6. Mark the screw holes. Use the bracket as a template to mark the four corner holes.
      7. Optional: Install the wall anchors. You'll need to install wall anchors when installing the device on stucco, brick, or concrete.
      8. Install the mounting bracket. If you are connecting it to existing doorbell wires, feed the wires through the hole in the mounting bracket first. Using a Philips head screwdriver, drive the mounting screws from Bag A into your wall (or into the anchors, if installed) until they are flush with the mounting bracket.

      9. Connect the wires. Connect the wires coming out of your wall to the screws on the back of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.). Either wire can connect to either screw. The order doesn't matter.

CAUTION! Do not connect to a DC transformer, halogen or lighting transformer, or intercom.

      10. Attach your Ring Doorbell to the mounting bracket.

Hook the slot on the rear of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) onto the tab near the top of the mounting bracket. Then, let the doorbell pivot down to sit flush on its bracket.

      11. Secure the doorbell. When securing your Ring device with the security screw(s), only use the small star-shaped screws that came with your device. Do not use any other screws. Use the star-shaped end of the included screwdriver to insert and tighten two of the security screws from Bag B into the bottom of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.).

      12. Restore power at the breaker. Turn the power back on at the breaker. It may take a moment for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) to power on. You'll know it's ready when it lights up and speaks to you.

We invite you to reach out to our community if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. The Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another by sharing their feedback and experiences with each other.

This product does not provide a wide view range and is too large to fit inside the average doorway. You have to install it in the bricks away from the door.

Can come off the hooks for it kind of easily, and battery is a bit less then what I expected for it, but overall, yeah, I'd say it's a good purchase, plus it has a much bigger range on the camera then what you'd expect

I wanted the one that takes a battery not the one you have to remove and charge.
