We understand how important privacy is when it comes to your home security. Customer privacy, security, and control are foundational to Ring. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you have some concerns regarding the privacy features of your device. Ring offers the ability to disable audio recording and/or video recording (if you have a Ring Protect plan) in the Ring app. You can also disable motion detection to prevent recording or use Ring modes.

The Ring app also offers privacy features to comply with applicable local and national laws and respect your neighbors' privacy. A Privacy Zone is an area within your Ring device camera's field-of-view that you can define as off-limits. The Ring app won't display anything within that area in Live View or record anything within that area.

You can set up to two rectangular-shaped Privacy Zones. Each zone can be compared to a small piece of tape over the doorbell or security camera lens. The recorded video in these Privacy Zones is blocked out and cannot be recovered. A Privacy Zone only prevents recording in that space. It will not prevent the triggering of motion detection. Hi Snoopy, I know it's important to be notified of visitors at your door. When someone rings your Doorbell, you should receive a push notification on your phone as long as Ring Alerts are toggled on. The Ring Video Doorbell can also be hardwired to an existing doorbell circuit if you have a chime kit in your home. It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. With Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. Enjoy enhanced features like upgraded video quality from 720p HD to 1080p HD, "Near Zone" motion detection in areas as close as 5 to 15 feet in front of your home, and a reimagined mounting setup that simplifies installation.

We are happy to share some tips with you for troubleshooting why your Ring device may be experiencing issues with video quality. If your phone or tablet has poor service or internet, it could be affecting "Live View" or your video downloads. Try turning Bluetooth off, then open "Live View" or view a recorded Ring video. Poor wifi can often cause Ring device issues, including video quality. We recommend following these steps in the Ring app: Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your device. Tap the "Device Settings" tile. Tap "Device Health." Under the "Network" section, you'll see your device's "Signal Strength." If your "Signal Strength" (RSSI) is amber or red, your Ring device likely has a poor connection to your location's wifi. Reboot your Ring doorbell or camera by following these steps: Open the Ring app. Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your device. Tap the "Device Settings" tile. Tap "Device Health." Scroll down and tap "Reboot This Device." Wait a few minutes for your device to reboot.
