      Hello Oskr,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, our top priority is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products and services. We truly value our consumer’s feedback, simply because it helps us improve not only the product from a consumer standpoint, but also our standards of service. We understand that you are interested in a local storage option for your home security device and invite you to share your suggestion for this feature directly with our product team here: https://community.ring.com/c/products/feature-request-board/24.
A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. Please see the following link for more information regarding the Ring Protect Plan and the benefits it offers: https://ring.com/protect-plans?undefined.

      Hello Hyper,

We understand how important it is to receive a trickle charge to your Ring Video Doorbell - 2020 Release. So long as the correct hardwiring is used, you can expect a supplemental trickle charge to your Ring doorbell. Please know we are here to help.

This device can be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer for continuous charging Please ensure your transformer is rated at 8-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz.

If your current hardwiring is not working, you may consider a Ring Plug-In adapter. This accessory will keep your device powered with a standard AC outlet.

You can learn more about this accessory here: https://ring.com/collections/accessories/products/video-doorbell-plugin-adapter-gen-2

      Hello David,

Most pairing issues are caused by distance from the router or incorrect wifi passwords. If possible, bring the device near your router, and try the set-up again. Should this fail, double-check the wifi password to ensure there are no errors.

You can reach us directly for live support. One of our product specialists would love to connect with you directly. We look forward to speaking with you soon.

They store videos for you until the device is no longer returnable, then they erase everything and try to coerce you into purchasing their subscription in order to store events. This is extortion. Never purchasing anything from Ring again. I’ll be selling this thing at the next garage sale and buying something with internal storage.

      Hello Neighbor,

At Ring, we believe it is imperative that our customers receive all pertinent information regarding additional benefits they have the option to subscribe to, such as the Ring Protect Plan. Having this information allows someone to make the best purchasing decision for their needs. We provide information to our customers about the optional Ring Protect Plan on our Ring website, here: https://ring.com/protect-plans. Your Ring app will also notify you during the free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in an email after a successful setup of a Ring device. This communication is vital to your home security, as this impacts your experience with the Ring Video Doorbell, and we want to ensure you are receiving these alerts properly.

With the optional Ring Protect Plans, you have the ability to review, save and share your video recordings for as little as $3 a month. Your Ring videos are stored in the cloud for up to 60 days (in the US). Without a plan, you will still receive real time motion and ring alerts, as well as have access to the Ring live view feature.

We invite you to reach out at https://community.ring.com/ if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring experience. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences with Ring.

      Hi MercedesN.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of your device working as you expect it to. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We would love the opportunity to work with you and ensure the different features of your device are working as intended.

It sounds like there is some concern regarding your Ring Video Doorbell device behaving differently in the Ring app compared to your other device. We recommend checking the Rich Notification setting for your device. Rich Notifications are snapshot images that appear with your camera or doorbell notifications that can show you a preview of your event video. With a quick look at your notification, you can know immediately if you need to open up Live View to take a closer look or if you’d rather wait and review your video later.

When a rich notification appears, you can expand the notification to zoom in and see a bigger version of the image. Rich Notifications work on devices that are subscribed to an active Ring Protect plan or a trial. Visit our support center for more information.

      Hello Rhonda,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) feedback with us directly, we appreciate it! While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with assistance to get the most out of your Ring device's battery life and walk through a factory reset of the doorbell device.

If you’ve tried everything else, and are still not succeeding to set up your device, you can try performing a reset/restore on your Ring doorbell device by holding down the set-up button on the device for 20 seconds and then releasing it. Here is a helpful article that walks through this process in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217240386-In-app-Setup-Failing-Repeatedly.

If your Ring doorbell or security camera battery is draining too fast, it might be caused by a poor wifi connection. Your doorbell or camera may be frequently disconnecting and reconnecting to your wifi network. Each time a disconnection or reconnection happens, your Ring device uses power, which then contributes to the battery draining too fast. Here is a helpful article that has some tips and tricks to improve your battery life: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405531384468-How-to-Fix-a-Ring-Doorbell-or-Security-Camera-Battery-Draining-Too-Fast.

      Hi Cruz.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) to record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the video quality concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Please be sure to remove the plastic film from the front of the device. If the film is left on, it can cause the video footage to appear blurry. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.

Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.

Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.

We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:

      1. The footage is crisp and clear.

If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.

      2. The footage is heavily pixelated.

If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.

      1. There are severe pauses in live video.

If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.

      4. There is a long delay before your video starts.

This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Test an event when it's back online to see if there's any difference.

While there are no video settings that allow you to change exposure to sunlight, there are other ways you can fix overexposed, washed-out videos. Using a wedge kit or corner kit can change the angle of the doorbell. There are many different corner kits and wedge kits, so make sure you get one that is compatible with your particular model of doorbell.

For more information on your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.), we invite you to reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback and experiences with Ring.
