Device app dependent. Android app is garbage.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy if you have an Android device. My roommate has an Android and every time the app updates he has to redo the setup. Works fine, so far, on my iPhone. This is going back. Do not buy cameras that are dependent on someone else's computer, e.g. Amazon, Google, etc.

Posted .Hello Chuck, Thank you for bringing the pairing concern to our attention. We understand how important it is to quickly connect your Ring device to your new router. Our specialists are here to help you find a solution. If you haven't already, please ensure you have the correct wifi password for the new router. Oftentimes, these passwords are generic, and can be found on a sticker on the router. Depending on the internet provider and equipment, you may have to reach them for direct support. If all else fails, you can hard reset your Ring device. This helps clear out any underlying software issues. Please hold down the set up button for 15 consecutive seconds and then release. The device will reset and be ready to set up in a matter of moments. Can you please contact us directly? We'd love to pair you with one of or product specialist who can help find the best way forward. Looking forward to turning your experience around. Regards, Marlom at Ring.

We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. Being able to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device is a valuable feature of the Ring Protect Plan. It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the optional Ring Protect Plans. The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for your Ring device. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Posted .Hi Craftsman57.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how critical it is for your hard-wiring to function as intended. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) was designed to work with compatible, existing doorbell systems to receive a constant charge and to notify you in your home of any visitors. We would love the opportunity to provide you with a concrete resolution today.
It sounds like there is a compatibility issue with your hardwiring. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) can be hardwired to a transformer with a rating from 8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA. The Ring Video Doorbell is not compatible with wireless door chimes or any chime/intercom system using a DC transformer. Using incompatible power sources can damage your device and cause electric shock. Visit our support center to check whether your existing doorbell chime kit is compatible with Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) from our list of tested and confirmed chimes.

Posted .Hi Kathy.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how critical it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) to notify you of meaningful motion events where the device is installed. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here today to provide you with solutions that will assist you in finding the best device settings for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your device is not picking up the motion you expect it to. The proper placement of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is important. It depends on a number of factors, including the layout of your yard, the distance from the front door to the street, objects within the Ring Doorbell's field of view, the height of the door, and more. One of the biggest mistakes people make is mounting their Ring doorbell too high to catch people's faces. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) should be mounted at the correct height of approximately 48 inches above the ground for optimal motion detection.
The motion sensors in your Ring Video Doorbell are designed to detect motion up to 155 degrees horizontally and from five to 25 feet outward from the fixture. They're also more sensitive to horizontal movement across the detection area than vertical movement. If you mount the Ring Doorbell too high, you're more likely to catch the heat of passing cars than the heat of incoming visitors.

Posted .Hello
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process, as this allows you to start using your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) right away. What you describe is not the experience we want you to have, rest assured we hear you and are here to offer our help.
While not comprehensive, the three most common causes of failure to complete the setup (after entering an incorrect password) are your Ring device being too far from your wifi router, having a problem with your internet connection, or some type of issue related to your wifi modem or router.
If you've already brought your Ring doorbell inside next to your router and the setup continues to fail, try rebooting your modem and/or router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, the devices like to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance.
To reboot these devices, please follow the instructions below:
-Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don't just turn it off). If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them
-Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in and wait for your internet to be restored
-Confirm that your internet has been restored by connecting another device to your wifi network and trying to access a website, then repeat the setup process for your Ring Doorbell.
We appreciate the value you have placed in owning a Ring doorbell for your home and would love to offer our assistance to ensure the setup completes. Please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support. Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our customers. Posted .Hello Quality,
Your experience with Ring is our top priority. We understand the importance of having your home security devices work properly, and we would like to offer our help! We agree that getting the most life from your Ring Doorbell (2020 Release) battery is essential, so that it can provide you with around-the-clock coverage.
While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring Doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges. Here is a helpful article that details more steps that can be taken to increase time between battery recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773-The-Battery-In-My-Ring-Device-Seems-to-Drain-Too-Fast.
