      Hello HKul,

The main functionality of our Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) is to be able to see and speak to whomever is at your door, from wherever you are. We understand how important it is to be able to retain those videos, for some of our customers, which is why we offer cloud storage. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with more information regarding your video storage options.

While subscribed to one of our optional Ring Protect Plans, you will be able to access videos from every ring, motion, and live view event for up to 180 days (US). You can also access, download, and share past Ring videos. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone, as well as have access to the Live View feature.

Additional information about the optional Ring Protect Plan can be found on our support website at: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001671383-Ring-Protect-Subscription-Plans.

      Hi CurtF.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We understand the importance of a seamless installation and setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) right away. The security features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) are incredibly valuable to your peace of mind. We would love to provide some information to assist in getting your device installed and ready to help secure your home.

It sounds like some additional information is needed for the installation of your device. You should fully charge the battery and set up your Ring Video Doorbell in your Ring app before mounting it to your home. Then, to install, follow the instructions below:

For the best results, mount the device around four feet (1.2 meters) above the ground.

Use the bracket as a template to mark the four corner holes. Grab four of the wall anchors from Bag A. Using your Ring doorbell as a template, mark four drill holes on the wall. Use a 1/4" masonry drill bit (not included) to drill the holes, then insert the four wall anchors.

Using a Phillips head screwdriver, drive the mounting screws from Bag A into your wall (or into the anchors, if installed) until they are flush with the mounting bracket.

Hook the slot on the rear of your Ring doorbell onto the tab near the top of the mounting bracket.

Then, let the doorbell pivot down to sit flush on its bracket.

We recommend visiting our support center to verify which device you have and ensure the accessories are compatible.

Hey ThomasK, we know it's important to be able to rely on your Video Doorbell to see who is at your door. Delays in notifications are typically associated with a weak or unstable signal strength. Hello DeeDee,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home. Ring understands the importance of having the motion detection and battery work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell is not picking up the correct motion. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. If you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion. We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of “false positive” motion alert. For more information on adjusting your motion settings to better fit your needs, please see our help center article titled: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041248971-Using-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.

      Hello Review,

Thank you for sharing your Ring Doorbell feedback with our team directly. We appreciate it. Your device is intended to quickly connect to the video feed so you may see and speak with visitors at your door. We are here to provide you with steps to resolve this issue for you.

It sounds like you may have recently received a notification on your mobile device of a Motion Event in your Ring app. But when you opened your Ring app to view the event, you got a blurry screen with a message that the app was having trouble connecting to the Ring device. Receiving this error means that there's an issue with the data transfer between your Ring device and the app. As a result, your Ring app is unable to display the video image from your Ring's camera. The three most common causes of this problem are the following:
A poor connection between your mobile device and the internet.
Slow internet upload and/or download speeds.
A poor connection between your Ring device and your router.

Here is a helpful support article with steps to resolve your concern: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001499906-Ring-App-is-Having-Trouble-Connecting-to-a-Ring-Device-and-Showing-Video

      Hello Paul,
Thank you for leaving a review. Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products and services. We truly value our consumer's feedback, simply because it helps us improve not only the product from a consumer standpoint, but also our standards of service. If you are noticing that the battery in your Ring Video Doorbell is dying, we recommend adjusting your motion settings, as frequent motion alerts can drain your battery faster. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773. Ring Community was launched to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our neighbors.

Also,  it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Video Doorbell  picking up correct motion. The Ring Doorbell sees the world is through a network of PIR or "Passive Infrared" motion sensors. These are heat sensors that detect motion by monitoring heat within the detection area. Since people are hotter than the surrounding areas, as a person enters the detection area, the heat measurements change. The motion sensors register this change as movement and send out an alert. If this is the case, we recommend you to adjust your current set motion zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of “false positive” motion alert. Hi Sunny.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We understand the importance of the motion detection working properly on your Ring Video Doorbell so that you can be notified of anyone that might be near your door. The Ring Video Doorbell was designed with advanced motion detection and near zone motion detection so that you don't miss any visitors, even if they don't ring the bell. We would love the opportunity to work with you to set up the motion settings optimally for your home's environment.

It sounds like your device is not detecting the motion you are wanting it to. The first thing we will want to check is that your device is mounted at the correct height of approximately 48 inches above the ground. If you mount the Ring Doorbell too high, you're more likely to catch the motion of passing cars than the motion of incoming visitors. This article will describe how your Ring Video Doorbell "sees" the world and the factors that go into good Ring Video Doorbell placement: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040763812-Proper-Positioning-for-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2nd-Generation-.

Hi Ou812. Being able to rely on your Video Doorbell is key to your peace of mind. Try charging the Doorbell using the provided charging cable for at least 6 to 8 hours. Verify the power outlet works by plugging in another device and ensuring there are no problems with the outlet itself. We have more information on charging the battery for your Doorbell here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/206129023-How-to-Charge-Your-Ring-Doorbell-Battery. Hi cobbbe56.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to work with you to make sure we get your device online and working as intended. We are confident we can resolve this together today.

It sounds like your device is not connecting to wifi during setup. If you're having issues setting up your Ring doorbell or security camera, such as connecting to the temporary Ring network or your home wifi network, try the troubleshooting steps below.

Reboot your device (shut it off completely), then try setting it up again.
Change your cellular data settings. If you don't see your home wifi network when you're setting up your device, one of your mobile device settings may be preventing setup. You can always switch your settings back.
Change the wifi settings. This often helps when you're trying to connect to the Ring network.
Tap Settings (the gear icon), then tap Wifi.
Under this setting, you'll see a list of different network names. Below that list, tap Ask to Join Networks, then tap Ask.
Try setup again to see if the Ring temporary network appears.

Visit our support center if additional troubleshooting is needed.
