It was super easy to install. The video is super clear and you can adjust how far beyond the front door to pick up motions. Comes with various ring sounds notifications which you can switch up from time to time if you choose. Get the membership to save recordings and to have it properly work for you. The yearly membership is an annual $30

Love the Ring Doorbell

It was so easy to install. I combined it with a no drill door bracket that I ordered from Amazon so installation was literally 5 minutes. No holes in the door frame. The camera works wonderful. It picks up all movement outside my door. I have one at my front door and one on my patio door. I can watch both doors simultaneously.

Good Video Doorbell

It seems to me that you have to have a strong Internet signal for it to work at least in my experience. I use the battery, which has a pretty decent battery life. The only real drawback is the fact that for each doorbell you would need a separate subscription if you wanted to record or look at prior video events.

The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues.
Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity:
Your Ring device may be too far from your WiFi router.
Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection.
Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic).
To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your wifi router off the floor.

Lots of pros over the thinner Ring doorbell model

Ring Video Doorbell 2

I have it mounted to the side of my house along with the Wasserstein Solar Charger to monitor that side, which it does well. The Solar Charger is keeping the battery in the 70% range, saving me the task of charging the battery.

I can’t hear people knocking at my back door and this allows me to see and speak to those who are outside. It was easy to install and set up. I can also see my backyard and know what is going on outside if I need to.

Now, no one can walk up and disable it without having a nice video of themselves beforehand. Much clearer images and sound than my last doorbell, too.

I love the fact the picture is clear when seeing what is happening outside on the porch. I have continued to work with the sensitivity of it and now it doesn't alert me every single time a car drives by. I did end up purchasing the RING plan to store the data in the cloud after the 30-day trial. In the end, I would rather have access to that data than not.

I was concerned if this being the base model would mean it felt limiting in some way to use, but it does everything I hoped. Clear video, the setup is easy, and the battery so far is lasting a good while. Would definitely recommend.

Charged it for about an hour and it was good to go. We haven’t had any issues. Only thing i don’t like is how you have to go to the actual website to manage your account versus being able to update in the app.
