If you plan on hardwiring it, I'd suggest the version lower (the one that requires the hardwire) because they do the same thing. This one is more to have the wireless option, but you have to remember to charge it. If I had realized before I would have gotten the hardwire only one.

For higher traffic areas, the battery does seem to deplete more often. Personally I have opted for the solar panel add-on accessory. Would be nice if Ring were to start just producing these with built-in solar panels overall it’s a very good doorbell and it gets the job done.

There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

Ring Door Bell
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these for my self and my children for Christmas eight I bought Two did not work took back to Best Buy said I had to contact Ring I contact Ring they said go back to Best Buy get new ones Best Buy would not take them back and give me new ones . I had to call Ring go through the set up again to show them they did not work.Ring did finally replace them with new ones. I was Disappointed in Best Buy I felt like I was getting pushed back to Ring that they didn’t want to deal with the product. Best Buy would not help all they kept telling me is they can not give me new ones go to Ring. The door bells work real good easy to set up on your own . I also purchased the alarm systems to work with them and that works real good and easy to set up . Pleased with the products but not the way Best Buy handled my problem with the products I purchased at their store .

I watched the installation video and they said that soft materials such as wood or vinyl, only need to be screwed in with a screw driver. They showed someone effortlessly doing it. However, I needed to top and get power drill to make a little hole first. Made the job a little longer, since I had to unscrew the stuck screw and start again. The image quality is excellent, but the sound through Alexa echo is very faint.

Taking it off and charging is fairly simple task. I considered putting on solar panel but I dont get direct sunlight for more than couple of hours so I decided against it. If recharging get's annoying, I will come back and update my review :)
